I am also very anxious to order my MBP. However beside the BTS iPod deal, I also need to wait until August for NC's Tax Free holiday. That amounts to another $150 plus savings. Uggghh the waiting.....

wish the new ipods would be released before the end of the promo

I'm contemplating when I'll purchase a 13" MBP with the education promotion this summer. Last year, they released all the new iPods the day after the promotion ended. Normally I'm not one who always has to have the latest and greatest, but I have a feeling the next generation of iPod touch is going to be a lot better.

Anyway, I imagine they'll do the same this year. Does anyone know if I would be able to purchase the MBP and iPod touch towards the very end of the BTS promotion, and catch the 14-day new product release return policy, return the iPod that I got during BTS for the newer generation, while still getting my iPod rebate? Or am I just too hopeful?

idiots

You guys are idiots for really thinking apple checks. I have bought 6 macs since they started the educational discounts, none of which i was enrolled in any kind of institution. They dont care, and its obvious why because they have a bunch of ******* like you guys who are afraid, big deal. Stick it to them and save the money just pick any school in the world they dont care. Sorry but it was annoying how many of you really care and are afraid of getting caught, GROW A PAIR!

It would be really sweet if the iPad could be added into the back to school promo. Instead of getting an iPod Touch, imagine a 200$ credit to an iPad!

Since when does being cautious or wary make you an idiot. Yes, we get it, you've bought (or pretend to have bought) 6 macs using the educational discount, congratulations. You have successfully bragged on an internet forum and acted like a douche at the same time, when you could have just politely informed people about your actions.

hmmm....

does anyone sell the 15" imac with the hires screen without tax?

as it stands, im going to wait for the BTS sale but after some calculations, if i can buy the 15" i7 with the hi-res from a store that doesnt charge tax to CA, then i would be ordering it right now...

i checked macconnection and they only have the i7 with the standard display...

Do you think mac with have the 2.4ghz processor in the mbp by the promotion? If you are buying the 13 in mac for $1100, is it safe to assume you would get $150 resale for the touch and $50 resale on the printer, making a new mbp about $900 excluding tax? Not too shabby...

I hope the promotion starts this wednesday or at latest next wednesday

Are you saying Wednesday as a random day of the week or is it when Apple usually launches the promo? I also can't wait for it to start, but this Wednesday (or this week at all) sounds too early :(

Just read, that the free printer promotion is going to end on may 26th. So probably BTS starts on May 27th - at least that would make sense. But don't they normaly extend the printer promotion? I always read about printer+iPod for BTS on the forum.

Damn it I have been playing the waiting game for a LONG time and wish BTS is soon because I am getting impatient. Going to be getting MBP15 anyone have any possible dates...I thought of buying and then hoping that they will release the BTS within the 14 days.

I have waited for the ideal time to purchase a MBP but am really getting tired of the waiting game.

I am getting sort of impatient as well. I guess it'll be worth it to have something "free" after rebates especially if it's a gadget that you'll be using even though you already have an ipad or iphone 3gs. Otherwise sell it to discount the cost of the MBP even further. I don't remember last year, but I went for the BTS promotion and don't recall getting a free printer, only a free ipod touch 8gb. For a person who already has an iphone 3GS and first generation 16gb ipod touch, along with an iPad, and last summer's ipod touch from 2009 BTS promotion (my mom is playing with it now days), I ask myself if I really should wait for the BTS to get an iPod touch. It's just that the concept of being practically "free", sounds very appealing.

At the end of the day if you can sell an 8GB iPod Touch on Ebay for $120 then that is $120 you've saved off the price of a Macbook. Whether or not the wait and rebate is worth it, is all up to personal preference.

Question: When is the estimated or leaked BTS date (i know it sounds a little ridiculous because I'm sure we are all in the same clueless boat but a little hope and date looking towards helps)

Where'd you hear it was ending? I just looked through the rebate details and it seems that there is no end date.

there usually is no end date. from my experience it's always an on-going rebate and the terms and conditions do not say anything about an end date

What's the difference?

1st Post. Hello Forum.

Could somebody please outline the difference in the current Education pricing for a college student and the upcoming BTS pricing?

Planning on purchasing 15" i7 Hi-Res Glossy soon.

Education Pricing = $200 off
BTS = $200 off + free 8GB iPod Touch?

Is that all?
I'm interested to hear about the printer too, I need a new one.
I wish MacConnection offered the Hi-Res screen =/
Can't beat no tax+shipping.

the site that promotes the educational discount in my country posted a 'news status' on fb, stating that you'll get a free printer from march 3rd to may 26th.

that probably means nothing, but as the BTS startet on may 28th last year it is maybe not that wrong.

so my guess for the start this year is the 27th of may :)

It's called integrity.

Thanks for the confirmation. Guess I'll be waiting for the BTS Sale.

I am actually at an Apple store right now on here on one of the iMac's. My appointment for a sales rep is at 6PM EST, so just over an hour from now. Is it possible to get the student discount in store or do you have to order it from the education store page to get the discount? I'm starting my post-secondary education in a week, so.... Need it now, but $200 off the i7 15" MBP would be nice:D

EDIT: Education discount in store = go apparently :D Proud owner of a new 15" i7 :)

Education discount is always on, its the back to school promotion people are waiting for.

It consists of a free ipod touch after mail in rebate, on top of the price savings.

BTW all you guys who don't technically qualify for Education Pricing (I'm in high school) if you get the right representative and plead your case well enough, some of them will crack.

Success rate 1 of 1 so far but I wasn't ready to purchase.

I said it was for my cousin in college and apparently the guy was gonna ask me for some easy info (name of student and college) and go through with the transaction.
EDIT: I told him that it was actually for me but we would use my cousin to get the pricing and he was fine with it.
