Just received mine today (UPS) and it has some bleed on the left side. Like others, will keep it for the time being.

oh no that's horrible

my ipad 2 (white) on launch day didn't look that bad..

black arrives thursday.. probably same crap like yours

wow

that's almost perfect.

lol - isn't that funny we are making concessions with apple now over a faulty screen? :p

id hold on until things get better.

Here are the comparison of my original purchased iPad 2 on 05/14 and the replacement on 05/15. Sorry, that some of the edges are cut off (on the camera they looked fine). Also, on the replacement, that one spot on the lower left is actually worse than what the picture shows. These are taken in our living room, no lights, only the lights from windows, so not a completely dark room (the original was taken around 10am Sunday morning and the replacements were taken around 3pm today): Thoughts on keeping the brown-box replacement??

One just came in, here at work - for deployment. iPad 2 WiFi 3G - turned off the lights, looked at the black backness of the screen - no bleeding at all.

just arrived this morning. no dead pixels but has two small scratches at the back and this... :(

Ick. You gonna return that immediately or wait it out?

I don't know yet. Called the apple support and they are arranging a refund for me and I don't want that. I asked if I could bring this to a nearest apple store and said yes but it will depend on the manager of the store if they will allow me to exchange this.

Not really helpful. Do local apple stores allow us to exchange items bought in the online store? I'm here in MA btw.

I felt like punching the apple guy I spoke to. He was like can I help you? I was like yea..my iPad is bleeding light..dude cut me off..WHAT!, I repeated myself then he took my iPad in the back.

Came back and said yes u have bleeding..turn your brightness down so you can't see it and it will save your battery..Lol I just stared at the guy and walked off..

Really? Just turn my brightness down? He even said he saw it. Why do I have damper my viewing pleasure because of your faulty device.

That is horrible. I'd go back and ask to speak with the manager. That guy should be fired.

I plan to later this week. This time anything short of here's your replacement I am going to go off.

I don't blame you. The response you got was unprofessional and unnecessary. I guess the guy could have been having a bad day, but there is still no reason to take out his frustrations on a customer...

Good luck next trip!

Hey guys just wanted to leave a note saying I am finally very happy with my iPad 2 64gb 3G. This is the sixth one so I went through five swaps, two at Regent street and later three at Covent garden ( in one day ). Anyway I have no backlight bleed anywhere movies look perfect with blacks being very neat, no stuck or dead pixels, and a screen that shows good clean whites. No dust under the screen. London UK.

My serial number is Dlxfkc I noticed it was a later revision in serial numbers when I was getting swapped out for a few stuck pixels. I knew from dealing with swaps last week that the regent street store was out of brown box swaps and were due to receive shipment this week. Seems it's a new batch here because in addition there are no scratches or marks on the back like the ones from the lot I had been swapping my way through last week suffered from, and my friends new iPad 3G 64gb that he received also last week came with a giant scratch on the back.

Anyway I love it and the backlight bleed is fixed on it. 100% no spot is bleeding. Good luck to everyone and for those accepting it enjoy your splotchy movies

edit: threw in a couple screenies to show no backlight bleed.

first 2 shots at 50% brightness, last at 100%. no bleeding, hard to take a good picture of this stuff, but anyway i'm stoked.

My iPad 2 has X on the third serial number and it has back light bleeding when brigness is turned up to 100%. Hardly noticeable when it is at below 75%. Should I ask for a replacement? They told me that I can no longer return my iPad for a refund since the serial numbers on my replacement is not the same. What do I do?

Same here...DLXF with no bleed and no scratches/marks, etc. It definitely seems to be a new production batch with fewer reports of problems, though not 100 percent, obviously...

California here...so the DLXF serial numbers are being shipped everywhere.

That looks a lot like my launch day black 32gb wifi. I've hung onto it because it's clear after 110+ pages that I'm likely to get one with just as much bleed with possible scratches and nicks and dead pixels. Meanwhile I use it mainly in daylight and once it seems Apple has corrected the problem and has ample stock, then I'll see about exchanging it.

You bought an iPad so you can sit in a dark room, and stare at a black iPad screen?
No, he bought it specifically as a troll magnet.

Seriously, I use the iPad a lot in the dark. Taking care of my 11mo old son in the middle of the night = lots of nighttime iPad usage. And even though I turn down the brightness in such cases, the bleeding issues are still very apparent.

are you serious? Come on man that's just not a quality display. Really, there is no reason for a conusmer to be suffering through that type of backlight bleed

So write a lengthy complaint letter to LG and Samsung. They make the panels.

Just checked mine and DLXF starts serial number for me as well. No light bleeding here.
