DLXF Screen comparison

Seems like the DLXF batch is looking good.

For those of you with DLXF iPad2s, how's the brightness compare to the earlier units?

Ok, I got a Verizon model because they didn't have AT&T. A week later, they had AT&T, so I bought that one with the intention of returning the Verizon one. Fired up the AT&T iPad, and noticed light bleed right away. I remembered this thread, so I got up to speed on the issues. I put the Verizon iPad (DLXF serial number) next to the AT&T one, and the AT&T one was noticeably warmer and just didn't seem as "crisp". I would say the DLXF is slightly brighter as well, but nothing dramatic.

The DLXF pad has a very slight bleed in the lower left corner, but not too bad. The AT&T one had them all over, most were very bad. Needless to say, decided to keep the DLXF one and return the other. Sorry, I didn't think to take pics to show the difference before I returned!

my first and replacement ipad both have serial start with DLXF.
1st: terribly bleed!
replacement: still, about haft of the 1st!

overall brightness of my unit seems to be actually between the previous one which was dim + Yellow and the first one which was overly blue + super bright.

at 100% it's acceptably strong, at 50% its still good, I am loving it more and more it seems like they struck the balance in the middle.

Edit: I just wanted to note that my previous one was DLXFKA and this one is DLXFKC or such, and the DLXFKA was scratched, dead pixels, and overly yellow/dim dark display.

This one is still warm, compared to an Ipad 1 screen my friend brought over; but i thought his was overly blue anyway. This one has good clean whites, is still warm, but strikes a balance between the first panel i saw which was super bright (too bright IMO) + blue with massive backlight leakage. This panel is warmer, but not as warm as my previous one, and the whites are clean white. The image is really great and accurate.

For those that care my serial number begins with DQTF and it has minimal bleed (acceptable). This is my 4th replacement and it's a keeper. No noticeable bleed in ideal conditions, and very minimal in extreme conditions. Way better than my iPad 1, and it is also brighter than my iPad 1. I suspect it is a Samsung but am very happy with the display. I received this replacement about 1 - 2 weeks ago shipped express via AppleCare.

Correction I do have bleeding very small on the center left side didn't notice it till i really looked but it's not major..it's way better the the pic of your guys/girls iPad 2 I'll Post a pic when I get home from work..

Pictures of my second DLXF.........waiting for the third to arrive. If I get the same issue I will ask for a refund. This is completelly unaceptable !

The first one had 7 dead pixels and a scratch on the back.

Dang! That's bad. I'm dying to order one, but I don't want to go through this mess... plus I'm waiting on my Portenzo case anyways (which looks like it'll be another few weeks at least).

Did you guys get your replacements through the apple store or via mailing it back to apple?

Ordered my original online, found the bleeding problem and took it into a local store for a replacement. The replacement is flawless by my eyes. The local store is only a couple miles from me, so it was a no-brainer to try that before going through the process of mailing it back to Apple.

to the people who just bought or got there Ipad 2 in the last 7 days without screen bleed does it come with version 4.3.3 software or 4.3.2 ? .

and people with screen bleed is yours version 4.3.2 or 4.3.3?

as when LG said this was fixed 4.3.3 was just relested and maybe we can go off the firmwre version as anything with 4.3.3 would of been built in the last 14 days i would of thought.

My brown box special replacement two weeks ago had 4.3.1 on it.

The one I ordered online (bleed problems) came with 4.3.3. --> Not a DLFX Serial Number
The replacement unit I got at the local Apple store (no bleed problems) came with 4.3.2. --> DLFX Serial Number

i have a verizon dlxf serial ipad 64gb and i have so far no back light bleed i can see and the screen brightness is at half and its as bright or brighter than my ipod touch 3gen at fulll

My replacement for my black 32g wifi is perfect. My wife's replacement for her white 32g wifi is as bad as her first iPad

well this seems just like a lottery does not matter what serial or firmware version you have some have it some dont

At the very least, it seems to be less hit or miss than before.

I picked up a DLXF ipad today at target. I will let you guys know how the screen is later. How do you test it?

I got a bad one that came with 4.3.3, and I got a good one that came with 4.3.3. The bad screen had a cold bluish tone, and the good one has a warm tone, which I prefer. It seems more like natural daylight to me.

As for the DLXF serial numbers, I wouldn't put to much stock into that. All four of my iPads were DLXF and three had bleed problems.

This should do it. Try maxing out the brightness and looking at it in a dark room.
