Interesting. Seems like there is another factory (DLF) making the iPad 2.

Yes, that's what looks like. I will wait for some more units from there and then I will add that one to the table comments. I am calling it 'F-' of course...

By the way, Grimes, confirm us your serial starts with DLF, not DLX. Just to be sure having in mind that is the first model from that factory if it really is DLF.

Added to previous table, thanks.

You are right, no idea...

I believe factory T is also in Shenzehn, China...

based on the other thread where people were posting Apple/Fedex/UPS shipping tracking info, I think there is no factory T... it's is a second code used by the same factory in Shenzehn, China. (or perhaps this factory has two assembly buildings and one code for each building?)

on the other hand, I've searched a bit and found a statement by Foxconn chairman who stated that they have four factories in China making iPads for Apple.

Since it's widely believed that Samsung LCD panels are not affected... all we have to do it to find out shipping information between Samsung and Apple/Foxconn factories in China. :)

Mine is DQTFJxxxxxxx
100% light bleed free

Spiderman0616, edit your message and remove the last letters of your serial number. We just need the first five. Better not to have so many digits of your serial number published on a forum. Thanks.

I'll double check after my meeting and confirm for you.

Thanks!

Fixed--I don't know why I did that--not thinking.

Is there any methodology to the serial list? I don't understand the point if both good and bad screens are coming from the same factory and same week. I mean what does that that tell us? Seems like the desire of the tech to align and assemble the unit properly is the only thing that matters...

It does seem, however, that some factories/weeks have better percentages than others. Whether this has to do with supervision, training, better quality control, etc. in one factory over another, I don't know. Could it be as simple as who was on duty that day?

All I can say is if that is the case...God bless the person who put mine together. They did an excellent job.

DQTFP replacement brown box unit. Damn near perfect! Will settle for this one now I think :)

There was a small scuff on the back metal. But can't be without my iPad for 2 weeks again and the BSE skin has covered it up now!

Yea, typo on my part... DLXFL is the correct beginning of the serial number on my good (zero bleed) replacement iPad.. Must have have fat fingered it in my earlier post.

Found the serial number of my original bad bleed unit: DN6FN. Horrible bleeding on that one.

Sorry about that typo

that's three "perfect" or "near perfect" ones being reported in one day... all from factory "T" (third digit in serial#) same as mine, which is DQTFQ :) I'm going to guess that factory "T" might have used a lot of Samsung LCD panels?

I have revised my opinion of my iPad 2 now. I thought it was only worthy of 99.7% perfect. I now think it's 100% perfect. Just spent 10 minutes playing with it in the windowless bathroom with all the lights turned off. There is absolutely no backlight bleeding at all. I will try to take a couple of pictures later tonight.

DN6FNs seem to be the WORST. My original (which I only had in my hands for ten minutes before I reboxed and made an appointment at the Genius Bar for replacement) was DN6FN. Blotchy screen with bleed all over.

The DLXFK is perfect.

oh, don't worry, I wasn't in there because nature called.... :)

it was purely just for backlight bleeding testing! I actually sat on the edge of
the bathtub. :) it was the only room in the house without a window. :)
