.. and where does the government get those funds? Simple math people.

I just don't get how the average person, when given a choice to choose for themselves or have the government choose for them think the government can do a better job. It's one thing to get it when you need it but it's another to think and live the philosophy that more government is inherently better.

Well put PBz. The government is now complaining about to little money, and keep raising taxes. And further more is now talking about taking money for services that once was free, but keep the taxes as they are. Great system.

Well this is not the right forum for this discussion, so let's end it here and get back to the backlight bleeding issue.

I've just been told via Apple Support, depending on your model: Replacement iPad2 via apple support are delayed up to 3 weeks.

I'm getting a refund. And if this problem is solved. I'll buy one in a few months.

Just came back from the apple store, and they replaced mine, and i got one which is alot worse. and I mean alot worse. I am so angry and tired of driving to the apple store.

one photo is 100% brightness and one at 50% and one is right out of the friggin box. IM SO FRUSTRATED.

got a noticeable spot on the top left, nowhere else. Considering what to do with it, but then again it's only a little worse than the first ipad I had, and this is only an issue at low light AND black background conditions.

My personal advice is if you have decent access to an Apple Retail Store and are on your 2nd+ iPad at least give it 12-13 days as there have been posts about it getting better. I personally would not go outside of my 14 days with an iPad I am not happy with but it may be worth the time to see if it's a glue issue (I don't personally buy it but whatever) as well as possibly let better quality stock hit the stores.

I am hoping my 3rd is in today and this is exactly what I plan to do. If it is bad I will take it back in 12-13 days and exchange or refund.

LOL can't believe it.. I sent mine off to Apple and they received it today. I just checked the repair status there and it tells me original product shipped back. "Could not replicate issue" LMAO this one is worse than the previous two I have had and even the genius said at the store they were bad. If they turned the brightness down in a dark room it would show up straight away!

This along with recent comments of Apple being a bit less patient is what makes me nervous about leaving the 14-day period. Once you are out, you are at the discretion of the "Genius".. not to mention a refurb (which some people are OK with and some are not).

FTR, Apple is still being super-patient and helpful in my case.

Yeah. I am on the phone to them now. The guy is going to speak to his supervisor. If nothing comes out it I'm just going to get them to refund me as I am still within my 14 days of purchase.

I shipped my iPad 2 (and not-so-Smart Cover) back the other day and Apple just processed my refund. I'll re-purchase if they correct the issue in the future.

I have to send mine back. to them... and wait 7-10 days....

Just got my new one from apple store, returned a white 32 version on saturday, got the black one today (after a lot of headache!)

Nervous to open it up, but at least I got the color I wanted

Spoke to the supervisor on the phone and he told me he is not sure why they have said they can't replicate the issue if the genius at the store could see it.

He told me that he can't see what they have done and to wait for them to return it and see if the issue is still there when it is returned. He gave me his email address and said if the issue is still there give him an email and he will send me a replacement.

Apologies for the bad pics, resized them.

Brightness at 50%, last pic is with the room lightening up a notch, very noticeable in a very dark room with very little lighting.

Going to the Apple Store tomorrow, what do you guys think?

Not my ipad 1. Perfect.

Not any of the ipad 1's I have seen. The lighting was uniform on them all.

When opening my ipad 2s, and the 'I need itunes' pic is displayed it was the first thing I saw. I was convinced that they had been dropped, such was the problem.

I have never seen this on any ipad 1 I had.

This is the exact same experience I had that got me googling this issue. I never would have searched out this thread if I hadn't initially seen those backlights bleeding from under the bezel on my initial start-up screen.

And in a nutshell, there you have it. :)

If it were not for the problems we see, we would not be here. It is not the other way around as some have suggested.

Google has brought us here because we have seen a problem and looked to find what that problem is.

This is starting to sound like the iMac screen issue fiasco. Was planning on buying a iPad 2 for the wife birthday present, but won't now. Will look elsewhere.

I'm sure the issue will resolve itself, Apple probably are working behind the scenes (we live in hope!). Other than the leakage it's a great device and by far the best on the market IMO, will make a great belated bday gift!

Returned mine to Target without a problem due to the backlight bleeding. Cannot justify spending $600 on a device that has this defect. I may pick up one later or just use my wifes ipad 1 32GB that we got at Verizon for $399 recently.

I also returned my iPad to target.

I have gone through so many iPad 2's in the last month it is crazy.

I decided to just say **** it, and for once not be an impulsive buyer and have to have the new thing.

I was able to get a 64 GB 3G ipad 1 for 500 dollars including a case, and I honestly could not be more happy. No screen issues and no ********.

It's crazy how many lines I waited in for the ipad 2 and how badly I wanted it, but this whole thing has just made me not care anymore.

Dont get me wrong, the iPad 2 is awesome. And I am not trying to sound all high and mighty... but I cant believe how just truly happy I am going back to the ipad 1. I am so disappointed, but I guess the iPad 3 will just be that much sweeter to get
