I have got to find a way to get Apple to give me cash for my store credit ($900). A store manager, who seems to be being honest with me, has said since Sat. he would hold a 64GB at&t for me but I'm starting to question that they haven't gotten one of these this week. I just want my $ at this point so I at least have the opportunity of buying the 1 at a significant discount.

I can only imagine if the one he held for me has any of these issues and we start the merry-go-round again. Really cool guy and I do think he's trying to help.

Mine is fairly bad, don't see any reason to exchange at this point. Either return it or wait it out. One thing for sure is that Apples exchange policy is great and sure this issue will be resolved on the manufacturing front within a couple months (at the off the shelf level). Will definitely keep an eye on the situation as I'm sure all of will. Even going to spring for the AppleCare, have had a handful of iPhones exchanged an noting that AppleCare was purchased only adds argument to replacement.... Incidentally checked a friend ipad2 and his is almost perfect, they are out there, just few and far between.

still so much talk about backlight bleeding..and now seeing threads about raised glass by the home button. I'm starting to consider just getting a cheaper ipad 1

Thats the route I went man...

Trust me I was so hyped and excited for the ipad 2. After a month of so many replacements and constant problems I decided to just stick with the ipad 1. I got a 64GB 3G with a case for 500 dollars. That is damn near unbeatable. Cheaper than the new 16 GB WiFi!

did you have an ipad 1 before getting an ipad 2? just wondering

I gave in and sold mine. Fed up with the bleeding, looked ugly. My 1 is perfect and videos look fine. Plus I bought a new 52 inch HDTV :D

Reading this thread would make someone believe that all iPad 2 are somehow defect.
Mine is almost perfect and I couldn't be happier about it. There are also approx. 2,6 million iPad 2 owners that are very probably happy too. That doesn't mean that there is no light bleeding issue. Some iPads have it more than others and they should get replaced.
I also get the impression that most US iPads have issues...Maybe it was the first batch...

Yes I did. Which is why I kind of felt even more stupid, but then again all I had was a 16GB wifi that I sold for 400 anyways, so for 100 more I got a 64GB 3G which is what I really wanted.

I agree with you, however I notice you don't live in the USA. I travel outside the USA a lot for work, and notice Apple products are better quality outside the U.S. I don't know why, just what I noticed.

I don't know about that, I am just saying that maybe the first batch of iPads had extreme bleeding issues. Mine doesn't have them. I got it on the first day it was available here in Germany (March 25th).

that really is a good deal though..
where did you get it? do apple stores sell them still?

I also returned my iPad.

It's crazy how many lines I waited in for the ipad 2 and how badly I wanted it, but this whole thing has just made me not care anymore.

Dont get me wrong, the iPad 2 is awesome. And I am not trying to sound all high and mighty... but I cant believe how just truly happy I am going back to the ipad 1. I am so disappointed, but I guess the iPad 3 will just be that much sweeter to get
Yes, unfortunately it seems like declining quality. My 3GS was better than my iPhone 4, but it's understandable.

Apple's not the only fast growing company that suffers not being able to manage the increased sales volume.

I kind of lucked out on craigslist. I found a guy selling it for 500 with the case... he had just purchased it in December for Christmas and literally used it for one month.

The iPad is in absolutely perfect condition, and I have a warranty through December to boot.

ATT is also selling brand new 64GB 3G models for $529 on their website. It would be more after tax and a case, so i would suggest trying to find one on craigslist as most of them include cases anyways.

if you are one who is wary of craigslist or used items, I would definitely jump on ATT online deal. 529 for the 64GB 3G is not bad at all.... but it is online only.

Mine, bought in the netherlands is really bad...

Mine was really bad too! Took it back to Apple last night and my new one is perfect! Glad I swapped it now :D

I am glad that the "perfect ones" exist! It gives us all hope! :)

I was willing to accept a small amount of bleed, nothing could be worse than the one I had, which was bright light all along the bottom. When I took it to Apple, they went up to a dark room to watch a film and told me it was bad. Took a new one out the box and tried it in store and there's nothing!! Got home and thought it might take time for the bleed to appear, but so far I have it on 100% brightness and there's no bleed that I can see :)

Thanks for sharing it with us! :) Highly appreciated!

Exchanged iPad 2 today and it is flawless! Hopefully this means they have started shipping new improved units.

Wowww this is a big improvement!! I think those are the first two good comments of this thread!!

I could replace mine yesterday because they they didn't receive any iPads but they told me to call Tuesday!
I hope I also able to post here that the new one is a perfect one! :D

Mine finally arrived yesterday and it is also flawless. No screen issues at all. :D

Any chance of posting pics at 100 percent brightness. I hope this is true because if these reports keep coming in I'm going to make another visit.

Other than the leakage it's a great device and by far the best on the market IMO, will make a great belated bday gift!

It's about the only tablet on the market right now. Just hope the other tablets coming out don't have this issue. Not sure why apple still has screen issues with their products. Their QC has gone done hill so bad in the past 4 years. It's actually sad from a company that prides itself on perfection.
I'll be steering her toward a different tablet this summer for a belated birthday present. For what a tablet can actually do, don't need to spend an amount that equals what a laptop would cost. Sorry apple, will pass on a iPad 2.
