@ 50% that isnt too bad....I would hold off, chances of getting one worse @ 50% seem pretty high to me. However I would definitely watch your 14 day or return window period. If you are not 100% happy return it. Im past my 14 days and keeping my fingers crossed they allow me to warranty at a later date.

PS - I logged a complaint with Apple and call every other week to confirm my case is still open in their system.

See the thing is I waited for the iPad 2 so I had been waiting for over a year. I defiantly will not return this one for a refund but I will be picking one up for someone I know in canada before I go there this summer. If the iPad I pick up in June does not have the light bleed issue I know that it is safe to switch mine out (or I will just give them mine)

I will be opening a case with apple about the issue soon to make sure that I will be able to get a replacement down the road if they fix the issue.

For now I am going to have to live with it but at least my iPad screen is one of the better ones!

Picture taken at 100% brightness in darkness.

It was taken with a black screen, but the iPad is so damn bright on 100% it looks blue in the image.

Looks good to me. When did you buy it?

It's a replacement from Applecare, I had to wait two weeks to get it (just got it Friday). They told me it was brand new, so maybe the newly assembled ones are not having the issue?

Question: if I replace through AppleCare and the one received is worse... Can I keep my original and send back the replacement?

If you're going to post a pic, please list the brightness percentage used. Also post pics at the percentage that you actually use the iPad, not 100%. if you really want an accurate photo, post a pic, at normal brightness, running an app, playing a video, or showing a picture. Sorry, I don't stare at black screens at 100% brightness.

I consider 50% pretty normal...and starts out of the box at this level.

Now that's what I'm talking about. Keep 'em coming.

That looks like a very good screen to me. One of, if not, the best I have seen. And I have seen a lot of ipad 2s.

Just got off the phone with apple support

They say that they are investigating the issue and they are trying to correct the issue

He agrees with me that i should wait until they fix the issue to swap my iPad

He gave me a case ID that I will use to get my iPad swapped out in a few months.

For now I will have to just get used to it.

This is great news!

really sad. I bought an iPad1 64gb wifi/3G for my wife from ATT for $529. the screen is perfect and no light bleed.
Mu iPad2 not so good. I wish I had gotten an iPad1 one..esp at that price point. cant return my ipad2 as I am beyond 14days.

My bleed appears to be getting better, only a little in the lower corner, and if i hold the ipad by that corner it goes away. It seems when the case is torsioned, the bleed alters, and in some cases improves. It sounds stupid but at night ive had my pad on a flat surface with laptop on top as a weight.

Gonna keep this one as its not so much of a problem as i first thought.

Need to get some pics uploaded so you guys can see it.

I've had one spot clear up on my current iPad. So far the others only slightly better but I've had this iPad for a month now.

My Local apple store ordered me a replacement that should be in soon? But I have a question, should I:

Call them and tell them to cancel it until the problem is fixed
or
Wait for it to come in and when I pick it up inspect it at the store to make sure its good and if not ill wait. ?

I have the same question. The last thing I want is for the replacement to come in and be worse.

I went to the apple store got a great genius worked with her before...she said I have to do the return, but I could try it. This one isn't as bad but pretty bad she said tomwait a month guess I'll wait at 25 percent brightness it isn't bad at 50 it awful...

32GB WiFi - Bleeding

Just picked one up this morning at Toys R Us. Pretty noticeable. Will call Apple and then return it next weekend.

Sigh...

people have said some Apple guys told them it'd get better in a month, others say four months

I've been feeling the same way about this...wish I would of went for the deal on the 64gb wifi/3G iPad 1 .... hell of a deal and I doubt id see as much light leak than this ipad 2 I have in my possession now. Yes the speed is amazing....the cameras...could live without.
