It was at the genius bar at the apple store and replacement came in a cardboard box as opposed to getting a new one out a ipad box. Not sure if that means refurb or not?

Anyway... here is my previous ipad

My replacement at 100%. Shutter speed was being weird but I assure you there is no hollywood lights thing going on. (black background looks blue I guess)

BRAVO. i gotta say... i think we've got a winner here!

The senior advisor assured me that the isssue is being looked at and most likely will be fixed in the next month.

They say that it might be the fact that the machine did not assemble the iPad correctly.

One vital piece of information that they gave me was that if the 4th character in the serial number is F then the iPad is one of the many effected iPad 2's

They said that is all they know at the moment and the person gave me their contact info to call back in 2 weeks

I am excited that I will be able to get a defect free iPad 2 soon!!

THIS IS VERY GOOD INFO!!!

my original ipad 2 that i returned (due to light bleed) has serial number beginning with DLXF...

that goes with what you said!

Well at least we know that most iPads with backlight bleeding have an F as the 4th letter in the serial number

Majority have it so I just need to watch out for F when I get my iPad replaced

the serial number is new news and good news, thanks for the heads up!

however, personally i've been through 5 or so iPads with screen bleed and all 5 had the serial number as the forth letter being F. What are the odds that all iPads have a the fourth letter as F? I'm just curious.

And an update, my girlfriends iPad died last night. lol...like literally just died. We turned it back on and it constantly reset itself. Ughh...getting so tired of going back to the apple store.

I'd say pretty good because it probably represents a continuing batch (that all have the problem, including mine, which also has "f" as the fourth character in the serial #).

At this point you should call Apple and explain that you won't be going back to the Apple store anymore because gas isn't free. Make it clear that the issue needs to be resolved without you having to waste time every week to deal with it.

Good! Now can you people ignore cmvsm for the troll that he is?

Have yet to take cmvsm seriously. This is in line with what an Apple Manager told me.. he didn't mention this exact "F" situation but an Inventory Manager explained to me how the issue would be found/identified and resolved but it might take a month or more.

I have been entertained how certain posters here have kept telling us we should accept this all the while most who have spoken to Apple have been told it is NOT how the iPad should be and is, and I quote the Apple Store Manager,"A warrantable issue".

Excellent work on the serial number data. At least some of the fools that come on here can see the (back)light (bleed).

I never analysed the batch I saw on an S/N level.

Good work.
