I can tell you never played Chrono Trigger, you should check it out.I've been playing video games since I was 2 years old. I'm 43 now and this is easily the best RPG I've ever played, and one of the best video games of all time.

You do know that they announced the transition several years before, right? Studios did not update because it was not worth it for them to do so.You'd think that they would have started working with game studios before Catalina arrived and tossed away any 32-bit games.
IMO 8 GB is not a joke; Mac OS makes it work for undemanding usages. But I certainly agree it would be helpful if RAM upgrading cost less.
Apple's baked-on-chip UMA RAM is hella more complex than basic RAM would be, so we really do not know what it costs Apple to add RAM.
No, not at all. But some previous exposure to some sort of DnD is helpfulIs it important to play the first two games to fully understand or appreciate this one?
Has anyone tried BG3 on an M2 Pro?
Yes it does, but the 4k monitor I'm playing on is only a 60hz monitor as it is, but it's rock steady at 60fps. BUT, I should say, I haven't taken this current character into Baldur's Gate itself yet, so it may get a hit there, unless they've patched some of that in the latest release. Even on Geforce Now, it's kind of iffy in some parts of the city. I mean, even the PC players have complained about the graphic lag they sometimes experience in the city (which is the 3rd act).awesome and how's the performance like? does it hit 60fps?
Yeah, I just use the PS5 and Switch for all my gaming needs and they're great. However, for MS exclusives like Starfield and, I assume, future Wolfenstein games, it would be nice to be able to play them on my M2 Studio if they won't run on PS5.If only Starfield and Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty were released on the Mac too, then all the really great 2023 RPGs would be playable on Apple Silicon. 🤞
The recommendation of 16GB RAM is clearly misinformation. 8GB RAM is all you need according to MacRumors.
Don't be fooled by Apple. Adding a single and cheap chip is nothing. Adding $200 for 16GB is already a joke. Why do you keep defend it?
We agree that Mac Pro is a different case. Personally I look forward to Apple doing something special with the M3 Mac Pros.Basically I agree with you with one exception. For some users, the fat RAM absolute maximum of just 192 GB (Ultra Mac Pro and Mac Studio) is significantly under powered. The previous Intel power Mac max out at 1500 GB (1.5 TB). Although this is NOT a gameplay concern.
Need and recommendation are two very different things. The recommendation of 16GB RAM is clearly misinformation. 8GB RAM is all you need according to MacRumors.
Educate yourself by reading up on Unified Memory Architecture. It is absolutely NOT $200 and to defend Apple on this particular topic is rather hilarious. This is obviously money-grabbing for them that has been going on for a long time now, made worse (planned) by their now non-upgradeable MacBooks.
No: shame on you for failing to realize some users want to buy cheaper 8 GB. You just want more RAM for no price increase, which is just silly. Are you serious? Shame on you as you keep defending 8GB over 16GB for basic models.
You are the one who failed to understand as 16GB of RAM is nothing. Why do you think using 16GB will increase the price? Adding 8GB is seriously nothing as the chip itself is really chip compared to overpriced $200 upgrade option. Beside, Apple already increased some specs without increasing the price for a lot of time so your logic already failed. No: shame on you for failing to realize some users want to buy cheaper 8 GB. What makes you think that having 16GB will increase the price? To be fair, Apple's 16GB upgrade is overpriced which supposed to be the basic price. $200 is clearly a joke. Beside, Apple already increased some specs without increasing the price for a lot of time so your logic already failed. MBA with 16GB for $1099 is more ideal than 8GB for $1099.We would like to both an 8Gb version for $999 and a 16Gb version for $1099 to exist.
We know that increasing memory for the base model would likely increase the price.
A lot of you are arguing about making 16Gb standard but not mention price at all.
Would you be happy with a base MacBook Air with 16Gb of RAM costing $1500?
Yes, you would since all you want is for the 16 Gb of memory to be standard and you never mention the price.
I'd like to know this also.Might grab this and run on M2 Max. Should run well enough?
I know but Apple did nothing to help. They didn't even bother working with Valve, which is why Steam looks like an Intel application. When I looked at the latest Steam hardware survey, it reported my M1 MacBook Air as something similar to my mid-2012 MacBook Pro with 1440x900 resolution. You do know that they announced the transition several years before, right? Studios did not update because it was not worth it for them to do so.
It runs well. Depending on the frame rate you're wanting to target you may need to run FSR.I'd like to know this also.
I prefer to buy things from the Mac (and tvOS/iPad OS/iOS) app stores for convenience. I do not need to update my information on multiple stores, and do not need to keep track of subscriptions in multiple places. Why? U want absolutely give more money to the poor Cook? Ah, yes, SECURITY... 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
Thanks for the reply. It's an 16" m2 max MBP with 64GB RAM. Anecdotally I've never really played many games or have a console for that matter. The graphics on this really drew me in for some reason. It runs well. Depending on the frame rate you're wanting to target you may need to run FSR.
I can tell you never played Chrono Trigger, you should check it out.
I Have a Xbox Series X, you can skip Starfield. If only Starfield and Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty were released on the Mac too, then all the really great 2023 RPGs would be playable on Apple Silicon. 🤞
I think you may be the only person I've ever seen who would claim the Apple App store is a better place for computer games than Steam. When they upload it to the real App Store, I’ll watch some reviews and consider purchasing it.
