Yup.
The rifle would look very good, very clean.
It wouldn't have a way to adjust the sight, it wouldn't have a swappable carridge, but they're willing to concede, so at least you can manually put a single bullet in it a time, there would be a huge amount of misfires and Apple wouldn't acknowledge the problem.
And of course: unless you used an Apple designed strap it wouldn't fire at all.

LOL! Yes, but despite the annoying little problems the entire weapons market would still be climbing over each other to buy them because instead of bullets it would fire guided micro missiles that can fly around obstacles then lock onto its targets!
I would have liked to have said directed energy weapons but knowing apple the gun wouldn't have a replaceable battery and you would have to rely on 3rd party aftermarket battery packs to recharge em. :p

dude, chill, you can't pick up sarcasm through text. When most people say likely, its if this ever happened it would be the greatest thing to ever happen. People are allowed to hope though, whats exciting about being realistic.

"THE GREATEST THING TO EVER HAPPEN".

A lot of people in this room seriously need to get their priorities straight.

Don't know the Language other than to say OMG.

Yeah. I'm sure he was just exaggerating oldtimer. At least I hope so. As long as you keep things into perspective though, this apple event anticipation stuff can be fun and exciting.

The big news is they are going to release the dates of all the new products. I doubt they are going to give a new event in october...

So im guessing that steve will introduce the new ipod line available this month. Introduce the new macbook line available in october or november.

Just a wild guess...

I doubt it there would be mumblings in the music industry before now

DRM free is already on several services... I'm not sure there'd be mumblings if Apple added it to iTunes.

If that happens say goodbye to Apple credibility in the future.

Something big is going to happen.

And it's all about music.

Apple is a new music label.

I agree that if Apple is saying how big it'll be, it usually has something to say. However... that's something THEY'LL say is big, not something we'd necessarily consider big. I agree a new iPod Nano or a slightly different iPod Touch isn't "big". Nor is a simple upgrade of iTunes to Cocoa.... they'd have to play it as a revolutionary way of accessing your media or something and I can't see it.

Apple as a new music label? Perhaps - I assume you're saying let the independents publish directly through iTunes? I think Apple could continue to sell major label music, AND offer a $5/mth subscription service for independents - that uses your favourite music to predict which "unknowns" you would like and give them to you.

A few last minute tidbits:

- We've heard a few more reports of Apple telling reporters that this event will be a "big deal" and urging them to come. While it's hard to read too much into this sort of hype, it does not appear to be typical practice for Apple.

Ok..., remember the invitation with the two bridges? I do not recall any body explaining what the two bridges where a symbol of... do you? Were the two bridges one for the ipod and the other for the iphone?

In any case, Apple likes to give hints away (remember 'there is something in the air'?) If they are telling reporters that there will be a 'big deal', will this be a code for something that is coming (as opposed to some 'big deal news'). I wonder, a 'big-deal' via itunes-8 that may change (again) the way we do things (remember life before the ipod and then life before the iphone?) How about streaming tv to your iphone or ipod touch, and now the ipod-nano?

How about giving away ipods in exchange for a two year contract of streaming music (has this been said before?). Etc.

I am waiting for the new mac-pro myself, and also the i-tablet that plugs into the i.mac or macbook-pro, etc. However, these would not 'big-deals' related to ipod and music.

I suppose that we'll see in two more days or so.

Going back to the two bridges invite. What are the bridges an allegory for? If you think you know, has than been confirmed in any way?

I'm bummed. If new Ipods is all I have to look forward to then I have no enthusiasm for this event. Everyone has an ipod. After I got an iPhone I lost all interest in ipods. Sure maybe they'll introduce something cool like a Pandora-like addition to mobile me or something but I'm not as interested in these things as I am new macbook pros or iphone software updates.

Give us more apple.

WWW3=what we want, where we want, when we want

perhaps this "big deal" is code for a business deal?

perhaps apple is selling majority stock over to microsoft?:p

Here’s my two cents:

Apple has said something about Tuesday will be a big deal. Some have suggested that they said this just to ensure that the press would show up. When has the press ever NOT shown up to one of these things? I mean, if you were an editor for some tech magazine would you have to be lured to an event like the one with the promise that it will be a big deal? No, of course not. Since your readers what to know everything you would go even if the news were fairly run-of-the-mill.

So I believe apple when they say that this will be a big deal – but I don’t see the tweaking of current products to be that “big deal”. The Christmas shopping season is just around the corner and since there is a slowdown in our economy the smart thing to do would be announce new products as early as possible. Less money will be spent on gifts this year and if you have high-ticket products like Apple then you need to give consumers some extra time or you will miss out on sales.

I’m betting we will see a brand new product announce. What will it be? I have no idea. Maybe Apple will enter the UMPC market or maybe we’ll finally get a Mac Tablet – but you can bet that whatever shiny new toy they pull from their bag we’ll immediately be convince we CAN'T live without it.

Dude, where were you during the lonnnnnnnnnng and numerous threads discussing the subject? It was the general consensus that the two bridges represented development for the mac and the iphone/ipod touch.

Exactly what is that supposed to mean? "As long as I keep things in perspective"?

Is that a threat my comment that anything Apple or Microsoft does is not "The greatest thing that ever happened".

This room needs to grow up and realize that Apple is not the Second coming of Steve as most in this room see him.

Edit.

My no means is this a religious comment. Apple and Steve have made serious mistakes in the last year and I'm tired of reading that an iPhone that doesn't receive or make phone calls "99% of the time" is acceptable to the Apple community.

Apple has been not put out one press release nor has AT&T to explain the problem.

I want stability for my phone or I'll go to another platform after 20x years of devotion.

It's a different matter when it's my home computer. My phone is as much a part of my business as my laptop.

Apple/AT&T is Fricking with my business. I can't accept this any longer.

Tuesday's release should be 1 thing. Stability to

iPhone both generations.
Fix iTunes to better backup and update my phone (no new features).
Fix the App Store to know when I have an update on both my phone and iTunes.

This is not too much to ask for a PHONE that has been out for more than a year. The software was an update that screwed up both 1st gen and 2nd gen iPhones.

Christmas

This is a nice time to ramp up your marketing division for Thanksgiving and Christmas.....

Does anybody remember what products were introduced before last US election?

Won't be the same type of products as last time, but the trend will be there.

For the love of gawd if HEEEEEEEEEE keeps things in perspective not you! Not you, the kid who said greatest thing ever or whatever he said. DAmit to hell one misplaced pronoun and the world erupts!
Do I freaking need an editor to go over what I write just so I can post something or can you people use your blasted common sense!
The "you" I used in my original sentance was to refer to people in general that they should keep things in perspective while they talk about great apple stuff. Obviously you didn't read it that way.
Gawd sometimes I hate the web.

Does anyone think there is even a remote possibility that Apple could do a "One More Thing..." event to release the new MacBooks and MacBook Pros? I'm starting to get desperate... I'm probably just grasping at straws... I hate Apple for doing this to me. :(

The more than likely the answer is no. But rest assured, they have to come out with their new macbooks either this month or next. They just seem to want to be strict and keep this an ipod only event.

Yes, one misused word can change the entire meaning of a sentence.

No editor needed if you can edit yourself. Common sense would dictate that when one reads what another person writes one shouldn't have to—or even try to—read what's not there.
The "you" I used in my original sentance [sic] was to refer to people in general that they should keep things in perspective while they talk about great apple stuff.
So you should have used "one": As long as one keeps things in perspective . . .
Obviously you didn't read it that way.
Since you didn't write it that way.

this was just cruel. give the poor guy/girl a break!

Pardon me, but why is an Apple deal with the Beatles a "big deal"? It's just letting them sell their songs on iTunes. So what? Is that even really worth an event all to itself?

But your not reading the carefully considered writings of a poem or a newspaper article OLDTIMER! Your reading the very quickly written sentances of an internet forum post.
Its a very different dynamic with numerous errors commonly posted. And with a hot topic with posts submitted one right after the other with such errors it is still possible to correctly consider what a person means in their posts.
At the very least you should be able to catch an error and simply overlook it or tell the person their mistake. In fact, we don't need editors, in forums we edit each other. Why aren't you doing that oldtimer??
Now get back on topic!
