iTunes store goes global starting in all countries where iPhone is sold. Purchases will be of course DRM free. But to get agreement for that from labels Apple agreed to provide also subscription scheme. DRM for subscriptions will be licensed also to 3rd party hardware producers. Some major partners will be announced.
That would be sweet. :)

^^^Yeah, I should have added "subscription model" to my last post. That's coming.
Might be nice.

subscription won't be happened this time. never. global store? it can't happened neither. copy right management is big trouble in some countries like China, Korea, Russia. we can't see it yet. there are a lot of songs already DRM free.
Maybe we will see a layered iTMS.

Layer one is for worldwide access. Anybody can DL music or movies offered via this store.

Layer two is for region specific. You can only DL music or movies offered in your particular region via this store.

Even with a picture of that 40" banner on the front page, I bet someone (probably a newbie) will still create a thread within the next 5 minutes asking if there's a chance of new macbook pros at this event

something big...

apple & the beatles unite,
start a record label,
and launch the new "Beatles iPhone Nano".

"big deal" + "Let's Rock" + Itunes 8 = All Beatles albums now finally available on Itunes. Guest appearance of Paul and Ringo at the announcement?

I think that record lable would be called ... Apple. lol.

Seriously, iTunes Beatles would make me rebuy my Beatles catalogue. If it was at least 320 vbr kbs. And don't they always have a musical performance there?

And an Beatles-special iPod would just take my money from me.

Well, that's my guess. Or else "big deal" may be exactly that - something large(r) in size with an attractive price tag, like a 10" Itouchtablet subcompactcomputerthingy for a-buck-three-eighty.

I was thinking something along the lines of that too. Only problem is that I don't know if it "fits" with the "feel" of this event. As much as I would love to see something done with computer hardware, I really think it'll be iPod centric. It's a shame too.

The only way I can see computing hardware introduced is with a "one more thing." Or maybe a "oops, I almost forgot again, computers!

Umm, maybe it will be announced that this will be Steve Jobs last Apple media event and the "on more thing" announcement will be his successor.

No. Chance.

For what it's worth, I remember hearing something that Apple was thinking about building in an unlimited function into the iPods. The consumer would have the choice of paying $20-$50 extra and be allowed to fill it with as much music as it would hold. I wonder if Apple would truly ditch DRM and introduce a different music model.

There has to be something other than business model changes or small iPod updates ... even GPS. I don't think Apple would put their media relationships on the line for something along those lines. Possibly something out of the blue. Something none of us is guessing.

I think McCartney has stated this ain't happening till 2009 but still it makes sense for 'The Beatles' to go with itunes exclusive - sticking their music on a slew of two-bit download stores with all the crap they usually have on them is not particularly good for anyone's image.

Jobs puts on a rapper's outfit:

"Just a few days ago
you leaked my epitaph
And just a moment ago
faked a nano photograph

But here it is, the word from God
to stop y'all goin' epileptic
There's a lot of new iPods
they're gonna go so damned eclectic

Runnin' Windows on our 'ware
is a small price to pay
But as if I really care
it's gonna die soon anyway

Oh yeah and here's a bit for free
'Tunes is smaller now, you see
Plus a great new shiny version
Leaks like that are no incursion

To our pride: our secrecy
So you all just can't wait to see
Tech that's better than ecstacy
And stuff fo' under yo' Christmas tree

Yo, everybody, just one mo' thang,
Yo' nex' CEO will be Jerry Yang.
Boom."

I'm getting this feeling Steve will walk on stage and call for everyone to get up and dance and have a massive disco, before he even mentions anything iPod.

w00t! Yes!

Let's Rock.. uhmm I mean..

Let's Gatecrash this parteh! :apple::D

-:apple:Sam:apple:

The big news....

Apple's transition to AMD processors!! :p haha lol

Maybe they're refreshing the entire Mac line considerably, hence why they've not updated them in ages. However, if there's a new Mac line-up, new iPods, iTunes 8 and iPhone 2.1 firmware then Apple clearly hasn't learned from the recent MobileMe + App Store + iPhone 2.0 scenario.

My guess is new nano and touch with iTunes 8 and iPhone 2.1 - the "big deal" being groundbreaking features within iTunes 8.

Maybe the big thing is SJ retiring?
He will retire and spend his time in a rocking chair on a porch.
The rest of us will get curved iPods that rock and wobble on a table.

/me ducks for cover :p

New MBP?

Apple always markets the Macbook Pro as a mobile powerhouse, showing how it can be used for film editing, music editing, design, etc.

The "Lets" part could mean that a bunch of new products are out, ones that work together, in theory, to provide a better music experience.

New macbook pro and logic software to help music creators, and a new itunes and some new ipods to make a better experience for users/listeners.

Just a thought...

A device I would like to see introduced, but there has been no rumours about, is an AppleTV like device with integrated touchscreen - probably around the 5-7" size, which would be perfect for kitchens, studies etc. Integrated speakers with line out to connect to a stereo and built in HDD, just like the AppleTV. Let's call it the AppleTV Touch. Access to all your content in any room, doubles as a digital picture frame, compatible with iPhone Remote app and airtunes.

Anyone else think that sounds good? It would tie into Apple's move to being a devices manfacturer, rather than a computer manufacturer. Multi-room audio and video for the masses.

Sounds great! But a few years off. Baby steps towards this in my opinion.

Tall iPod

iPhoneSavior) an image from outside the Yerba Buena Center in San Francisco where Apple will hold its "Let's Rock" media event on September 9th, 2008.

The large multi-story banner shows one of Apple's iPod silhouette ads clearly suggesting a major iPod-related event...

That's a mighty 'tall' iPod in that persons hand, or he has very small hands.

Perfect and then everyone can call it aTouch when they get too lazy to say the whole thing.

Then you can say i'm longing for aTouch but money is tight so I will have to settle for an iTouch myself.

"Let's Rock".... i wonder if Apple is going to finally announce the rumored audio card (box) that was codenamed "Asteroid" ?????

"Let's Rock" sounds like you're either playing an instrument OR mowing down Aliens with a chain machine gun...

any thoughts?
