I don't know who you are, so maybe you do, maybe you don't.

Regardless, I don't see the problem here. If she knows him and has access to him, why shouldn't she ask for the favor? I would if I had the opportunity and availability.

There's no issue with that. The issue is macrumors thought this garbage was newsworthy.

I need to train siri to pronounce Streisand's name correctly if it does not get it right after Tim. "Baba Streisand"

I guess I don't mind that the CEO of (the world's wealthiest company) can do small (token) favors for fellow celebrities. So long as those "favors" don't harm anyone else, don't inconvenience the rest of the Apple userbase, don't change our devices for the worse, etc. In this specific case, Cook making a minor Siri change for Streisand's name does not affect anyone else, nor does it hurt anyone here in MR. So I'm ok with that.

But I do understand that in asking for such favor, and publicly bragging about it, she set herself up for ridicule on the internet.

No, Baba is Barbara Walters. And she doesn't mind anymore apparently if people say Baba Wawa. Doesn't Barbra Streisand realize her own effect? Now everyone is going to use the z sound.

Barbara, can I have Tim Cook's phone number? I need to talk to him about the MacBook Pro's that are overdue.

If that upset her, me saying that that picture makes her look more like Joan Osborne will really piss her off lol.

Not even; more like 1% of the 1% problems...

The problem here is, it makes Siri look really stupid. I think it's Century Link field in Seattle that gives Siri trouble. I suppose it's hard to go through all these things, but celebrities, high profile locations, street names ... Come on.

Why is this news? I'm sick of these hacks thinking they are worthy of the world knowing what they are doing. She's an idiot. She could tell Siri to pronounce her name however she wants. But then that would not fan the flames of her massive ego of her self importance to herself. I haven't watched or listened to anything she's done since she became political. I'm sure she and Tim Cook are quite close.

I like Tim's response too, I interpreted that as a polite "we'll get to it when we get to it, Ms. Streizzand."

Did she do something wrong? I think most people care if their name is mispronounced. Blame MR for considering this everyday occurrence to be newsworthy.

I agree, it's completely fine for her to complain. But it's not an every day occurrence that a celebrity calls up the CEO to bitch ;) The sad thing here is ... this will take how long to fix?

Can't you just correct Siri yourself? That's what I've been doing for years.

Can you correct it for everyone or just yourself? Surely this would lead to some epic trolling. Can I train Siri to say Ryan Lochte every time Michael Phelps name comes up?

You can only correct for yourself. And yes, I suppose you could train Siri to pronounce a name however you wanted :)

I would think this would be a server side fix and not require a client side update at all.

Siri should give humerus answers whenever talking about Streisand now.

Just refer to her as "She who shall not be named".

My response was to let macrumors editors know I don't want to see stuff like this on my preferred Apple news site.
73 posts in... obviously there's interest and people care enough comment. Whether it's to complain, defend, or joke about the topic; there's interest. Imagine what MR would be if they only posted what you want to see? Or only stuff that I want to see? There's something here for everyone. We both have a choice to ignore the articles we don't like.

I have no interest in Barbarsa Streizand either. I did have a curiosity about the replies in the thread. Thus far, they haven't disappointed.
