The way I upgrade my phone every year helps with the prices too for me.

I buy the phone outright and then sell it near the new launch. I also save £100 a month towards the next years phone. That way it doesn’t hurt my wallet.

I don’t mind selling the phone at £700 and then putting in the rest.
I concur. Not a bad way to go about it at all.

Some other "leaker" rumor about a price increase, and another slew of posts complaining about it...
I'll just sit back until next week Tuesday and see what Apple will actually announce...
But yea, Apple is doomed ...

Considering iPhone Pro is actually the best selling devices despite it being highest price suggest Apple leaves money on the table. And bumping the price should have been done a long time ago.
Excellent point.

I was astonished to learn that the Pro sells so well, but it tracks with the three lenses I see in all the social-media mirror selfies.

I'm confused......all the people in here b-itching and complaining about iphone prices....don't you guys get new phones ever 2-3 years for free or highly subsidised by your cell phone carriers? I've never paid full price for any iphone ive ever owned....
That only works if you can’t count. In reality you pay even more with hire purchase through a carrier.

It’s like the people who think cars are cheaper to lease or buy on hire purchase, or the people who find Adobe Lightroom easier to own as a subscription rather than an outright purchase. All of it relies on people not being able to count.

Those prices are a joke. Even a $50 increase to one model would be over $3 billion in new revenue per quarter. Apple themselves has already projected tariff impacts to be contained at $1 billion this quarter.

But this? This would be crazy over the top.

That is not accurate at all. The Pro sells just slightly worse than the base model iPhone, although they are close. The Pro Max however sells about 50% of what they do, indicating that the higher price is a big obstacle.

There is no data to suggest that iPhone is leaving money on the table. Just the opposite.

Please Apple no more price increases, will we ever see a price decrease?

M4 MacBook Air saw a price decrease!

I think $1,099 is likely but not 1,199. They’ve had the $999 price for a long time, and honestly with inflation over the last few years, I can’t blame them for the increase. Either way, glad to have a mint 16 pro still showing 100% battery. 😁

These new prices for the new iphones sound more logical.

Samsung is direct competence so:

Galaxy S25 Ultra 256GB model: Starting at $1,299.99
Galaxy S25 Edge 256GB: $1099

Classic PR move.
Feed the fake news about $200 price increase, people go nuts, then the hike is "just" $100 and people are now happy and forget
If these prices are real, it really is just a $100 increase over the same capacity 16 Pro. They’re just making the base storage 256 GB instead of 128 GB.

The Pro Max is typically the second best selling device from the estimates I’ve seen: https://9to5mac.com/2024/11/20/appl...nt-what-youd-expect-but-theres-a-good-reason/

I wish that people would just vote with their wallets. If no one is buying for the price that Apple is asking, of course they will immediately lower the prices.

Very possible. $100 hike and the base starting at 256GB will put the starting price at $1199 for sure unless Apple decides to go for a $50 hike only.

I’m sure European prices will go up for the base Pro, but by as great a percentage as the US price (20%)? I sure hope not.

Currently the base 16 Pro is €1229 (with tax) here versus $999 in the US (excluding tax).

A 20% increase as in the US would take us to €1475. Can’t see that happening. €1299 seems reasonable.

The euro is 5% stronger against the USD than this time last year; and compared to the start of the year it's 15% stronger.

If all apple did was keep euro pricing on par with last year then they've effectively enacted a 5% price increase. But lets see what happens. I reckon they're brazen enough to double dip and increase those euro prices too.

We really need to have price guides for other countries.
The tariff situation this year id likely to affect US prices, but what about other countries?
Plenty of other prices are
- already subsidising US prices
- have broken ‘psychological barriers’

16 Pro is €1199 in the EU, £999 in the UK.

If true I’ll go with regular 17, which is what I wanted to do anyway as the pro design I find to to be quite hideous. 17 is more than enough for my cat pics anyway.
I was already planning on downgrading off the Pro Max because screen size. The main advantage is the cameras, but at that price? Hell nah. I'm not some vlogger who lives on their phone, and honestly, the cameras on my old 13 mini were good enough for my usage.

I'm very likely not buying the Air because no 5G mmWave, but I am excited to see them make a one-camera phone trend and stylish.

I'm pretty sure that Apple is going to have all of us worldwide subsidize US customers. Even though the tariffs should only affect US customers, they are going to increase prices worldwide and invent a story around it.
