And I went with the gold. As much as I like the space gray as well, I find the black and gold combo the most striking and just pops in person.

I just picked up a gold one at my local BB an hour ago. Was planning on the space gray to match my iPhone and Apple Watch, but thought the gold and black looked pretty nice on display. Why don't they make the black/gold iPhone combo already???
 
Just got back from Apple and Best Buy. It took alittle longer that I wanted since the rMB was sold out in 3 different BBs. I had to go to one a bit further away. But all done and playing with it now. Very nice....looking forward to putting it through its paces.

Yup woke up today and saw the $999 price and purchased a gold one this morning. Was gonna go with space gray but the gold was different and so bling lol. I've had several Macbook Pro's over the years and always silver, so boring ;)

Also ordered today a Juiced Systems Macbook 5 in 1 Adapter v2 (w/ USB-C Charging Port), Gold - this is version 2 with USB-C charging port so you can charge Macbook and use the adapter at the same time :)

Does that adapter sit flat on the table when plugged in? Just wondering if it puts a lot of strain on the port. I think it'll still put some strain on the MacBook's port when plugging and unplugging some USB cables that are overly stiff.

Oh that adapter does not have video out. Too bad. I actually think the single port design is quite convenient for those that will plug their Macbook to a monitor - plug in power, display, and USB in a single plug, like a single port dock that I use on my ThinkPad.

When I first walked in, I overheard another customer asking for the gold one, and rep assumed I also wanted the gold one when I asked for one. No, space gray please. I knew I would go with SG since the original announcement.

Bought the 13-in MBA during Best Buy's Cyber Monday sale. I wanted the rMB, but couldn't justify the cost. But I wasn't thrilled with the MBA since it hasn't been updated in quite some time. After seeing the rMB on sale this morning I returned the MBA and got it for $950. Don't do any video editing or run any programs that are takin on the machine, so I'm a happy camper.

As long as you keep it at 1080p, the rMB can handle video editing in iMovie quite admirably, believe it or not. And agreed about the MBA, it's an unappealing computer in comparison to the rest of Apple's laptop lineup.
 
I had bought an open box a few weeks ago, saw this price and checked on what open box was going for now. Went to BB and after an initial push back from them, got the open box for $909 which adjusted my purchase price down quite a bit.

Figger I can sell my late 2012 rMBP for about $650 making the net cost just pennies!! Gotta love that resale value! :)

Any video editing I do will be very basic; shortening and maybe converting the file type. So I'm not the least bit worried. Ive spent the past two or three weeks kind of wishing I bought the rMB, so I was pretty excited when I saw the price drop.
 
I am in the same boat now, just bought a MBA 11" as a secondary, but with this drop, considering returning it and picking up a MBr.
 
Jut bought it and returned mine immediately.

Mine was 0% charged and since one of the only issues I have read on the rMB is the battery, I will pass on a battery totally drained sitting on shelf for months.

What made me mad is I specifically asked if the ones they had had El Capitan installe and if they received them withing the last few weeks. I was told yes/yes.


Oh well, 1st worl problems....
 
Nebraska Furniture Mart has them for $989. I have a coupon for $10 and have a price adjustment from an iPad Air 2 64 for $55 (Paid $519, its down to $470 ). Net price approx. $924. Thinking seriously about it. Currently using a Toshiba 4 gig ram Chromebook 1080p IPS for the couch lapp. A Mac Mini is my daily driver sharing a screen with my gaming rig.

Wife has a 1.2/512 Macbook currently as her main computer so I have some experience with the Macbook.

Highly unlikely - Best Buy's deals normally go from Sunday-Saturday, and a loss-leader like this is probably just through today.
 
Yeah, this season BB has been running a fair number of 2 or 3 day sales without any indication how long they'll last. That's why I hustled over this morning to make the deal I did.
 
Yeah, they had the 15" for $1699 for about 2 days earlier this week.

I suspect this will be similar and have ended by tomorrow.
 
I just picked one up for $859.99 open item!!! I'm bringing back my MBA I got on Monday for $727.99. While I actually like my base 13 inch MBA a little bit more (more throw on keyboard, more ports, better battery life, slightly faster) this is way too good of a deal to pass up since it has twice the RAM twice the storage and retina display with better color gamut.

I was going to have to bring my MBA to exchange anyway since it had this bizarre clicking when I pressed down on the keyboard.

had to do the same finding the gold mb today! all of our best buys here were selling out so fast! loving it so far though!

I bought the gold and the space gray. Planned the gray for myself, but am digging the gold.
