Probably a Boston fan... Just thinking out loud of course. ;)

Congrats on Jeter getting in. I am also glad to see Roger move up a little.
I think it was Colin Cowherd. I didn't know that jackhole had a HOF vote. I dislike Jeter as much as the next guy, but he's definitely HOF.

Walker, on the other hand, is not a HOFer to me. What changed in the last 10 years that all of a sudden, he's HOF material? His stats are a by-product playing in Denver. His home-road splits are striking.

I'm surprised that Jeter wasn't unanimous.
Those voters are funny about unanimous, The man did great things and while I think the bar for HOF entry is set too low, he's one of the great ones that definitely deserves entry.

What about the Little League distances to the outfield walls at Fenway and Yankee Stadium??

I’d have to look at it on a case by case basis. Walker was 381/462/710 at Coors Field. He was 282/372/501 in any stadium not Coors. Most of his career was played in the juicy ball, small park era. To me, not a HOFer

There are hitters parks all over MLB. Maybe we should dismiss pitchers who pitch in pitcher friendly parks? The application of "Modern Analytics" say he should be in. Walker was a true 5 tool player when healthy and an inspiration to Canadian kids.

To me, he wasn't a good enough player to be "unanimous". He wore the goofy Yankee pinstripes, so now he's expected to be unanimous. Silly to me.

I think what he did, his ability and the fact he was part of a baseball dynasty should have meant a unanimous vote. Think about it this way, the person voting against him was basically saying his record, was not sufficient to warrant entry into the HOF and I think that's ludicrous.

As for his "goofy yankee pinstripe" comment? All that tells me is someone who cannot look past the fact a great player played for a team that you may hate.

Hate has nothing to do with it. he wasn't even the best shortstop on his own team for much of his career.

He is in some minds one of the top 5 shortstops in the game.

A-Rod was not Jeter. A-Rod was just as much showboater as he was baseball player.

I'm not saying he's not a hall of fame, but I'm not surprised he's not unanimous.
It was one vote shy. That's just a voter being a hard ass and not based on did he deserve to be elected.

If Jeter is a no doubt hall of famer why not unanimous.

Just one person made the 75% threshold for enshrinement this year, David Ortiz. Bonds, and Clemens and Schilling are out.

So what's the standard for PED users? Don't go scorched Earth with the media? Ortiz tested positive, never owned up to it. Only difference is he didn't go to war against everyone denying it. Per my personal belief, that would be grounds for not getting voted in.

Even ignoring the PED issue, I don't think Ortiz was worthy of first ballot.

MLB has a huge problem. When that report came out there was nothing illegal about using steroids in the rule book. Should the HOF have any say in the matter.

And yet Bonds is out simply on the suspicion of using and him going scorched Earth in denying it.

And the fact that he rubbed a lot of these old writers the wrong way during his career. It's sad.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think Bonds should have gone into the HOF either. But Ortiz getting in while denying AND having a positive test is still damn hypocritical.

I am more open to letting 1 strike people in if they come out admit to it, apologize, and never use again. Get caught again? Automatic DQ from that point forward. Heck lets really hurt them since they do it for financial gains than HOF aspirations. People who get caught again only make league minimum for the rest of their career. 1st strikers make league minimum for 3-5 years.

Wow, Just Ortiz?
Todd Helton is the only one on the list who will get in.
the baseball HOF is a fickle committee!

"Ortiz survived all those seasons of strict drug tests.
and beat the yankees, pulled a city together after an aftermath and had a big smile!
what a folklore and legend he was!"
- typical HOF voter

Wasn't Manny Ramirez better than Ortiz too? Was he held out because he was a bad teammate?
