I'm surprised to hear you say that, since Buck and McCarver have been practically rooting for the Yankees for years, especially their man-crush on Jeter.

We're getting the same thing from the clowns calling the Mets-Dodgers game. These guys are such New York home boys. It's all Mets as far as they're concerned. They have so far failed to notice that Derek Lowe is pitching a three-hit game. Of course they introduced him as Randy Lowe.

Don't they have Steve Phillips announcing? Didn't he once run the Mets?
He got fired by them actually.

Tonight's Yankees Tigers game might be delayed by rain. Looks like the cold weather might show its ugly head.

Praise be to Torii Hunter!! What a spectacular goof on his part.

Kotsay? Inside-the-park-homer? It's surreal...

Let's go A's!
Yikes. Well, we got past you a couple of years ago only to get beat by the Yank's. Maybe the A's will do better

Now they've got Tim Robbins in the booth plugging his new movie and talking about why he's a Mets fan. Does it get any worse?

The only way it would be worse is if Robbins started talking about how he was from LA, yet still ended up a Mets fan....oooh, wait a minute. Never mind.

Or it might get worse if the Dodgers scored three runs in the top of the seventh to tie the game and they're thanking Tim Robbins for stopping by. Oh, wait.

OK, so that didn't go as well as it should have. I'm a little concerned that Grady Little was encouraged by Penny's outing and thinks he's now healthy enough to start. Let's hope it was rust that caused all those walks and not his mechanics. He was all over the place.

Since I recorded the game and watched it later, I fast-forwarded to the start of each pitch. (And by the way, I succeeded in avoiding the score before that; so proud of myself.) This saved time and had the marvelous bonus of hearing mostly Gary Thorne and very little Morgan or Phillips. I highly recommend it. Morgan at least knows something about how the game is played. Phillips is a moron. It's guys like him that convince me that I could run a major league team right now.

Let's hope Kuo brings his A game today.

Who is this kid with the crazy hair thats been on ESPN lately. He does not seem to like the A's for trading him to Arizona.

Penny's mechanics have been screwed up for months. He's faced this problem before. His velocity is tremendous but his location is poor. The breaking pitch isn't working. The guy who needs to spot the problem and correct it is Rick Honeycutt. The fact that he hasn't is why I suspect Honeycutt might not be back next year.

If the Dodgers don't recover then obviously Little's decision to pitch Penny in this situation is going to be questioned all winter.

As for the play-by-play, I've heard bad -- but this game was the worst by an order of magnitude. Strangely enough, it pissed me off even more than the loss by the Dodgers.

Damon may be the best money well spent this season. While Arod is a big waste of money.

LA had kept it close 'til the bottom of the 6th. Missed opportunities with men left on 1st and 3rd when they don't deliver. Looks like the wheels are coming off after now 4-0 Mets after 6.

Edit to here:
Another solid performance today from STL pitching and hitting. Pujols and the Card's bats are coming alive for a second W over SD.

Thoughts on the Twins

Can the Twins pull off another miracle comeback? It's only happened once (in the modern era) when a team has gone down 0-2 at home and come back to win the series. NY did it to Oakland after the A's took two from the Yankee's at home. Heh. They're looking for that next win to bust a funk for sure. 0-9 in their last nine attempts to advance. Regarding the Twins - it was such a great season. To win the division on the last day. To come back from such a crap start. To have our young bats perform so well - Mauer pulling off the AL batting title was incredible. I had such a blast this season I really won't be that bummed if they don't advance. It was a great year.

The last two games are like a blur. A couple of blunders - Castillo's attempted steal and inability to lay down a bunt seamingly cost us game one. Hunter's over agressive play in center field seamingly cost us game two. Credit to the A's. They have capitalized on our only miscues. I hope Radke can pull off a gem tomorrow and for once our offense can back him up. He could provide the spark necessary for another comeback. As crazy as it may seem, that's how my year has been with the Twins. Even down 3-0 going into the bottom of the 9th I knew there was hope :p

All they have to do is win the next game. Then, win the next game. Then, when the next game. Sorry for the Yogi Berra, but it's true. Three in a row happens during the regular season. It'd sure be nice if they could at least take it to 2 and 2 and go from there.

Heck, they won 19 of 20 at one point this season. Now all I want is 3 in a row :D

It's early on, yet, and STL seems to have come back to life. This subtle stat I think is significant if they hope to continue.
"St. Louis hadn't blanked a playoff opponent since finishing the 1987 NL championship series with shutout wins against San Francisco in Games 6 and 7. ... St. Louis' rookie-dominated bullpen has thrown 6 2/3 scoreless innings of two-hit ball, with 10 strikeouts and one walk."--S.I.com

Tough

It's Twins territory here and every body seems to be a little on edge. The thing about this city (Minneapolis) is that you have a lot of people from Wisconsin.

Saint Louis?!!?? Are the Cardinals in the playoffs? Where can I get more information? Cardinals.com?
