Apple's claims of battery life only involve streaming music and video. It's nothing like the test being shown in this YouTube video.
Apple doesn't claim anywhere that the 15 Pro Max lasts less than any other iPhone. It's their flagship phone, so people expect the best performance including the battery.

More clickbait drama. I can't believe so many tech nerds on here are so easily drawn into these type videos, where skewed tests and results are then sent through the pretzel machine and packaged as fact. You guys should know better than to get sucked into clickbait revenue videos.
What makes it clickbait?

The tests conducted are being portrayed as typical use and linear when that isn't the case. There are too many variables involved that the YouTuber conveniently leaves out. The YouTuber also touts himself as a pro user, whatever that is supposed to mean. lol The video, in my opinion, is being shown through a cloudy lens.

One person may get excellent battery life with the 15 pro while another may get an hour or two less. That happens with every model. That doesn't necessarily mean that the phone that gets less with some users is "bad", as is being portrayed in the video.

With the ability for a lot of the population to charge at least once during the day, I really don't understand the obsession with so many people of not charging when they can, just because they are trying to hold Apple to some definitely battery life when Apple has never guaranteed set battery hours every time for every user under every condition.

I agree people expect the best, but they're going to be disappointed. Real world tests involve web browsing, gaming, and opening apps, which results in higher power consumption and kicking the refresh rate to 120Hz. Unfortunately, there's nothing Apple can do in terms of software to increase battery life for Pro/Max.

I agree. During lunch and on my way back to work via apple car play it charges briefly. It’s common sense. If you running low on battery and you know you gonna be out late just charge the phone for 30 mins. If you running low on gas what do y’all do? Run out of gas? No way. You go and pump gas. Or for those who drive an EV…you will stop to charge briefly. I haven’t been worried about battery life since the 11PM. Oh and BTW I used my phone for everything during the day. I do everything efficiently and with no issues. I don’t have 10,000 webpages opened or running 2,456 apps or playing games etc.

Battery life feels better than my previous 13 Pro so nothing to complain about here. I can understand someone being disappointed if they upgraded from the 14 Pro though.
I disagree based on my own experience. Left my house today with around 45% battery on the 15 pro. Used Google maps to travel to a destination around 30 minutes away and also used google maps on the way back. I did nothing else on the phone. After that approx. 1 hour, the phone battery was down to 5%. That's significantly worse than my 13 pro.

Are you one of those people who gets irritated when anyone criticizes new iPhones?

I’m really happy with the battery performance of the regular iPhone 15. Switched to it after being disappointed with the 15 Pro battery. Night and day even in one day. Plus it feels even nicer in the hand being lighter.

This means the regular iPhone and iPhone Plus will get gimped by Apple next year, because their batteries are just too good, destroying the Pro models.

Apple is going to fix this next year for sure.
Waiting for Apple to put larger plastic pieces inside the iPhone to reduce weight and make battery smaller than today lmao.

I don’t care about how long a battery last on a iPhone 15 Pro. I am retired and can charge the phone when ever I need to as i always have chargers and cable nearby. Most folks are making a big todo over everything on these new phones since they became publicly available. I recommend go have a slice banana cream pie and take a deep breath and relax.

He runs the same test, the only difference is the phones over the years. It seems reasonable to expect consistent results between different models. Assuming he is honest and doesn't play games in the edit, I don't see any clickbait.

I have the 15 Pro. Today is obviously the first full day i've used it. Used it all day w/o charging it and i'm down to 28% after 14 or so hours. I'm hoping that improves a bit after settling down.

95% of the time, i don't care about poor battery life. We have chargers all over the house and car. Its that last 5% like when you're traveling or doing something where you're not near a charger all day. Or when the power goes out. My iPhone 11 had the best battery. I could go a day and a half easy. I miss that.

We'll see. Maybe it was a fluke or a battery lottery. But I don't see Apple agreeing with a claim that their flagship phone is expected to last less than a lower-end model. If that is really the case, they should make it clear, because nobody expects that.

Seems roughly as good as 14PM to me…

I came from a 12 Pro Max that was down to approx. 80 percent capacity.

So far, the battery "feels" exactly the same or slightly worse than that one. lol

I won't complain though. It's ok. I just wonder if these chips are as efficient as they should be. If it's the extreme performance causing it, I'm good with that.

Start complaining about the auto manufacturer that the tank of fuel drops to 94% after a few minutes of driving

I drive a XC90 T8 (plug in hybrid) I pump gas every 3-4 weeks. After this lease I’ll be going fully EV. I haven’t worried about gas prices in a very long time.

Here is a battery test by Mrwhosetheboss.

Spoiler: It (sadly) doesn't look good for the 15 Pro. I switched from the 13 Pro to the 15 Pro and hoped it would last longer.

Video:
On the other hand, the 15 Pro Max battery life appears to be better than the iPhone 13 Pro Max which was better than the 14 Pro Max. Given more time, it may not be as bad as it seems on Launch Day +1.

That drain seems kinda extreme.

I'm going to upgrade from the 13 Pro to either the 15 Pro Max or Plus. I'd prefer to get the longest battery life possible (which might be the Plus, despite Apple's claim) but I can definitely notice and don't want the downgrade from 120mhz.
