Really? People were saying how amazing the iPhone 11s battery life was after one day.

No defending apple on this one, pure greed by Tim Cook, plain and simple.
I wouldn't of judged the 11 on the first week either. Batteries do need more time to adjust not just iphones.

If it's not up to standards then I say return it... Apple likely made batteries smaller due to wanting a lighter phone so it's not so heavy. Thats all I can think of why they went this route

Bit hard to return it when I’ve sold my xs max 🤦‍♂️😂

People have been calling out google for years about their pixels having smaller batteries, same needs to be done with apple.

Battery life isn’t going to be the same for everyone. It depends on how the OP is using his phone, cellular signal strength, WiFi strength, screen brightness, apps installed, as well as apps being used and left in the background. And lets not forget user preference settings.

OP, you didn’t mention anything about these salient points. How are we supposed to offer help?

I mean, it’s a larger phone with more pixels to push, 5G and a 10% smaller battery. 5nm while it’s good isn’t massively better than a13 in efficiency. If you expect the 12 pro to get similar battery life to the smaller, larger batteried 11 pro with no 5G then I will say y’all are beyond delusional.

Even though many here know the new phones have a smaller battery and a new, powerful optimized chip, they seem to still expect better battery life than the iPhone 11. That is typical MR. And a lot of times, the ones doing the most complaining are the ones who upgrade every year and know the Apple “drill”.

It is really perplexing and frustrating to read such time and time again from what are supposed to be informed tech nerds.

Geez, y’all defending Apple like they’re your family members lol
Apple doesn’t need defending. I, and some others are promoting common sense.

It’s like anyone who looked at the s20 ultra and note 20 ultra battery life fiasco should automatically assume the same will happen to their beloved 12 pro

Common sense? Common sense would be accepting reality which obviously shows that the new phones have weaker battery lives. Y’all excusing them by pretending it was indexing or the battery had to adjust etc.

Seriously, I really love the new design, but let’s face your ”common sense“ which leads us to the conclusion that the batteries are not as good as y’all would like them to be!

I haven’t made excuses for Apple and the smaller battery. The OP made a big claim without stating usage after only having the phone 24hrs or less. I stand by what I said. Even though the phone has a smaller battery, the OP could have unrealistic expectations, screen brightness too high, or a number of other things I previously listed.

The new response for the next 12 months on iPhone battery life is going to be “give it time”. 😂
Folks will be waiting well past the return period at this rate.

Generally speaking, true. But why to suspect the users immediately when there are other possibilities, such as the fact that the battery sizes shrank?

That’s the reason why I got the 11 Pro when the mAh of the new ones were leaked.

XS Max 3,174mAh vs 12 Pro 2,815 mAh

Yes the cpu is more efficient but you have no way of knowing whether any of the other new parts, features etc draw more power and as a result, make use of the efficiency!

The last thing I’d ever expect is a larger phone and battery to be beaten by a smaller one. Certainly wouldn’t proclaim to be surprised by it anyway!

This.

People talking as if phones like the XS Max came out 5 years ago. It came out in 2018 and is a larger phone with a larger battery.

11 Pro and 12/12 Pro are similar size devices so you would expect similar battery life, but with 5G and an apparently more efficient chip, that could go either way. I wouldn't be surprised if the 12 Pro has longer OR shorter battery life than the 11 Pro for those reasons.

I woke up late today at 8am with a fully charged phone. 12 hours later, I am sitting at 61% with a day of normal usage.

Perfection.
I woke up at 9am with a fully charged phone as well (charged overnight) and I used it throughout the day - played some music, browsed some apps, went for a photo walk, and the battery dropped to around 19% by around 4pm. Also, not using 5G. I'm using LTE. I hope battery life improves eventually. I've switched over from Galaxy s10+, which had a reallg good battery life.

And it also had bad battery life. The only max phones with good batt life was the 6s/7/8+ and the 11 pro max. Xs max battery was not great....

so everyone upgraded to a new phone but has to turn off 5g just to maintain similar battery life with their old phone?

LOL.

jokes on us.

I'll wait till next year

mini battery life is going to be horrid.

fully charged at 7 am, unplugged 7 am and now is close to 11 pm and my 12 pro is down to 77%. But then it’s on LTE and actually light usage. Nothing heavy.
