Been using the phone all day with auto brightness on, push notifications on, LTE on, using twitter, messages, podcasts, Facebook etc and it's 11:00 pm with 40% battery. Impressed.

Mine seems kinda bad I'm only getting about 4-5 hours usage on LTE, that's all on LTE and no wi-fi. It's better than the ~2 hours of constant LTE my old Bionic got but well below apple's 8 hour quote.

Location services here is online, but doesnt go active. It only turns on when the gps symbol shows up in the status bar right? Well i never saw the icon in the status bar during that time:

For the rest, 6h of wifi and 10mins of a game and 20mins of 3g....depleted.

Disappointed.

I was also getting terrible battery life after upgrading my 4S with iOS 6.

Turns out there is a bug involving iCloud syncing of Safari.

Take a look in Settings > About > Diagnostics, and look to see if there are a whole bunch of crash reports for the process "webbookmarksd". I had a hundred or more.

This is the process that syncs Safari bookmarks to/from iCloud.
I have found that, after restarting the phone, as long as I don't run Safari, battery life is great - possibly better than the same phone on iOS 5.1.1.

However, as soon as I run Safari, the webbookmarksd process starts to chew up CPU, the phone gets hot, and the battery starts to drain very fast - 10-25% per hour.

Seems as if some kinds of bad bookmark data can keep crashing this process, over and over, so that it keeps trying to complete the sync and never can.

(Come to think of it, I had a similar problem upgrading my old 3GS from IOS 4 to 5.1.1 - except it was a calendar sync bug in that case.)

Turning off iCloud syncing of Safari doesn't help. Neither does force-killing Safari from the multitasking bar. Putting the phone in Airplane Mode helps temporarily, but when you turn Airplane Mode off, it just starts right back up again.

Deleting my Safari bookmarks on my Mac and allowing those changes to sync also hasn't helped. And there appears to be no way to force iCloud's to reset its version of the bookmark database and push empty bookmark sets to the phone and Mac. Unfortunately, because otherwise I could clear everything out, then restore from a backup on the Mac and let a good set of bookmarks sync back over.

I'd be curious to see if anyone else has run into this - there were a few people on the discussions.apple.com forums that had similar issues.

So if I don't sync the safari bookmark with iCloud there will be no problem?!

Well, I've gone through 3 recharge cycles. The battery life is improving.

My battery life is awesome on the iPhone 5 just like my 4S. This is still the first charge.

Ditto. My usage almost identical to you (Usage - 8 hours, 55 minutes; Standby - 1 Day, 2 hours) and I'm at 26% left.

I'm trying to run it all the way down before I do a full charge. I do this a couple times with every new phone I get to get the most accurate battery stats.

Another thing to remember: being a new phone, we tend to use them differently than we would on a "normal" day. Installing apps, playing with things, etc. Wait until you have seen the battery life after using the phone during a couple "normal" days of usage.

together with your screenshots also post the usage please.

I bet i can make the iphone go >10 hours if i only stay at the home screen at airplane mode ^^

I think there is something up with iOS6 and battery life.

Left the house yesterday 100 percent charge. 25 minutes of tethering over WIFI, 2 very short phone calls, and I have Exchange with 4 emails coming in.

5 hours later, 34 percent. No apps running in the background.

Last night charged it, 100 percent. Got up this morning 73 percent, no LTE, wifi only and it received 4 emails overnight, no other usage.

For the people crapping all over the guy who talked about battery life/break in. My 4S had horrible battery life its first week two, I had that 4S for a year with great battery life after the first week.

my iphone 4 on ios 5 was better. i'm only getting like 5 hours of usage and 12 hours of standby. gotta run through my settings.

Mine came off the charger at 9 something and went back on when I took that screen shot, at almost 1 am. I spent about 1:15 on the phone, browsed the Internet, played with Passbook and picked up a couple things in the app store and messed with those, took a few pictures. I was texting throughout the day. Two push email accounts running. 100% brightness. Stayed on wifi because I was home all day.

That was following my first charge. Very impressed so we will see how today goes.

Here's mine. Full signal, no wifi on all day. All via 3g. No games just browsing.

EDIT; location services online, but never got the logo in the status bar. meaning no app asked for gps data.
Also bluetooth never on.

Fetching emails every 30 mins.
