Bro... you obviously aint no playa. I spend every night in a new chicks bed, all because of my iPhone 4s, it gets me laid on a plenty. I can't be carrying no charger around with me all the time.

If it aint gonna hold a charge for like three or four days, how am I supposed to know which punani is next on the list for some sweet sweet pimpin love?

iPhone 4s makes me a balla!

You can use the location based reminders to remind you if you're near your next punani stop.

People are going to complain after the update---that's just how they are.

When I first got my 4, I could get almost a full 2 workdays out of it before charging. When I got iOS 5, it was way less than that until I turned some stuff off, but I noticed the difference right away. Also, sometimes my phone would get really hot at random times.

If you go from a 4 to a 4S, you'll notice the difference too--you can literally watch the battery meter drain point by point just from sitting there looking at the screen. But I'm pretty convinced this was just an iOS 5 thing, not a 4S thing. We'll see in the next day or two.

I haven't touched my iPhone 4S since I updated it at 6:30pm. Normally it would have reduced by at least 2%-4% just sitting there untouched.

Just now it dropped to 99% with 7 min usage 4hr 26 min standby. So standby at least has improved for me.

I was doing great, then BAM. I have been getting constant error codes in the diagnostic center. I was told by Apple to wait for the update and that they would leave my case # open.

Sorry I shouldn't have to charge my phone every night. When I go to bed with 80-90% battery or even 60-70% battery, I expect to wake up with minimal loss. But instead my phone is tanking to almost dead in 6-8 hours overnight. This supposed "fix" better do the job. I refuse to charge my phone every night to cover up a potential flaw.

Same boat. Everything was fine, then all of a sudden I can't get through the work day without charging.

Question -- is your usage time showing equivalent to your standby time even when the phone is locked and not in use? I even put my phone in Airplane mode locked and it's still showing usage while not even touching it  This has been my problem, I'm hoping 5.01 fixes this.

Hasn't been long but after updating to iOS 5.0.1. My battery seems much better. It's still on 100% even after browsing the forums for a while. But who knows for the moment.

No, they have not been equivalent.

No, they have not been equivalent.

Thanks for confirming. I read through your thread and I'm not getting the same error report you got, just a whole bunch of AWDD logs. But I am hopeful based on your talk with Apple support, hopefully it's the same bug affecting us all and the patch fixes it.

I got a whole bunch of AWDD logs too. The Apple tech sent the text message to me to run their diagnostic and didn't see anything wrong there. Will keep updating as I talk to the Apple tech.

ya i am thinking that ios 5 has excellent standby time but not usage:apple:
and from 100% to 99 it will take 30min but 99-98 on 3min

After reading all these threads, I'm convinced that there's just a small percentage of people with true battery issues (i.e., the ones who can't get through a day on standby). For the rest of us, it's just a matter of how we're using our phones and realizing that smartphones in general are extremely power hungry. The other day, my usage was at 7+hrs and over 24 hrs standby before the battery went dead. Yesterday, I was almost out at 5+hrs usage and 6+hrs standby. Huge difference. But, the reason was simple: yesterday I was constantly surfing the net using 3G, constantly on email/iMessage, used Maps for a bit, etc. Those sorts of activities will suck a battery dry regardless of the OS or the hardware.

I know people are going to say I'm just complaining, but my battery life is as bad as before.
I updated to 5.0.1 yesterday. Drained completely and full overnight charge.
My battery is down to 75% after 30 mins usage (emails and 10 min phone call) and 2 hours standby. That's not good.

Randomly as a test, I turned set time zone feature on and guess what? It is still stuck on!! Can't be right. I'm going to have to book it in with apple again.

Just to update. Now 12 midday and I unplugged my phone at 06:30. Very light use. Let's even say 1 hour phone usage and ten emails. Battery now at 22%

Miss my iPhone 4 usage..... I can't get through half a day with the 4s.

Seems like this problem is bigger than last years Antennagate hoopla.
Here is the Google search trends:

Even if we are more specific:

I upgraded when I woke up at 6 in the morning and went through my usual routine. Its now 7 pm and I'm at 70%. I use my phone pretty sparingly when working but ever since I got my 4s after work im usually down 50% or less so I'm happy with the update.

This is admittedly preliminary, but I don't think it helped me any :/ I just charged it up and all I was doing was reading the news in a browser on my phone - thats it - and it dropped a percent every three minutes. My 4 just doesn't do that. Might be time to schedule a genius bar appointment, although I guess I'll give it one more charge cycle and see what happens.

No good for me. Complete restore after 5.01. Usage time still = standby time. Locked and untouched in airplane mode on a clean install of 5.01 (set up as a new phone, nothing installed) overnight it dropped from 99% to 70%. Numerous awdd logs again. Unacceptable, I'm returning the phone --no exchange, I have serious doubts about the 4S. Don't know what I'm going to do for a phone at this point, but unfortunately it won't be an iPhone.

Keeping my iPad 2, though, I love it :)

I can easily get through a day with a good 7 hours of usage but I choice not to because I have a boost case and I'm kind of OCD about keeping my battery level above 50%. Compared to my Htc evo, the iPhone is king when it comes to battery life. My Htc evo would lose 10% in an hour without me even touching the phone.
