Here's mine. I took a screenshot when it was fully charged at 100% and another later when it was about to die.

And here at 1%.

I guess 5 and a half hours seems to be normal, but that doesn't seem very good to me. Is that normal? I didn't do much with it. Checked emails, texted, browsed a few websites, checked twitter. Just doing normal stuff you do with your smart phone. I didn't use any data heavy apps ala Netflix or Pandora.

Today is day five that my brother has had his iPhone 4S replacement.

The first one had a bad battery and bricked like mine did.

This new one he has is getting amazing battery life. Now I'm beginning to wonder if Apple is doing the "silent update" thing.

Try restoring your phone and setting up as a new device.

Does this apply to new phones (not from backup)? When I first booted up the phone, I chose the "set up as new phone" option. Also, this might sound like a dumb question, but if I restore the phone, will I lose all my apps and settings?

Thanks

This is what I'm worried about. I have everything meticulously set up. Apps are organized, contacts, bookmarks, etc. I would hate to have to start all over and reenter everything as well as lose all my texting history and pictures.

I'm on 5.0.1 Beta 2, and the battery life isn't any better. Don't be excited for nothing.

Just goes to show how amazing battery life is when you are at home on wifi compared to when at work in the office on edge..it's clear the reason why it drains at work faster is due to look for a 3G connection

currently i'm at

1 hour, 23 minutes usage
17 hours, 31 minutes standby

76%

Disclosure: I'm sorry, I didn't read the whole thread lol

Anyone check to see if it's Siri's raise to speak function? My understanding of that function is that it uses an IR sensor to constantly check to see if the phone is nearing the proximity of the users face.. Either way, I'm sure it doesn't help.

I'm on 6hr 15min usage, 14hr 8min standby with 20% battery left. Push emails from 3 accounts (approx 50ish emails today). wifi on for: browsing the web, watching YouTube. Played a few games for approx 45 mind today.. Location services on for 4 apps and 3 system services..

Not as bad as some of you, but I still feel like this is a fair drop from my iP4..

In general I am very satisfied with my battery - I could go two days without charging, so that's good.

But what I don't really get is the usage time - yesterday before sleeping I charged my phone to 100%, turned off wifi, cellular data, location services, everything. The only thing I had on was the alarm.
When I woke up today I had 85% left with a usage time of about 3 hours and 8 hours standby.
So what is my phone doing in the night to have such a usage time? And the 15% less battery also annoys me a bit...

It's because of Siri. Try disabling it. The mystery usage will disappear.

here's a thread where I had the same problem and turned Siri off. My battery life improved significantly (Day 6). You can try it and then turn Siri back on the next day.

So far I have to say I'm pretty happy with the standby battery life. I've only disabled the time zone and iAd settings. And lift to talk. The battery gets hardly touched in standby for me.

currently on

3 hours, 25 minutes usage
22 hours, 41 minutes standby

34% left

most of today has been usage on 3G...think i should get a good 6-7 hours usage by the end of it.

I'd like to chime in and say that my 4S battery life has been great. It's about on par with my iPhone 4.

I'm at 60% right now with 3 hours usage and almost 15 hours standby. That puts me on track for a 7-8 usage span.

I've heard lots of people complain of standby drainage overnight. I went to bed at 66%, woke up 7 hours later at 63%...seems pretty reasonable.

And, I haven't even done a proper calibration yet. I plan on letting this charge run all the way dead and then doing a full charge. Should see even better results then!

Yeah I only lost around 3-4 % each night. It's what you lose in standby i think is the problem for those with bad battery life.

4s battery - generally very good - but it just committed suicide on me!

My 4s battery has been great, on the whole. Then, yesterday evening it went on a suicide mission and drained about 40% over an hour and a half. No idea why, as there was nothing different going on, and it wasn't even being used at the time.

However - after killing all apps and a soft reset, I noticed that the location services indicator was still running. No apps running at all. How weird is that?

In settings, Foursquare had a purple compass arrow, indicating that it was using LS (bear in mind I had already ditched Radar, so that wasn't the issue) but the app wasn't even running at all.

I turned off LS for Foursquare, opened up the Foursquare app, accepted its request to use LS, and all was perfect again.

Not sure whether that helps add to the sum of knowledge on the subject, but I thought it was quite an interesting "feature"!

My battery was fine for the first week or so. Then things went downhill fast. Last week, with no warning, battery drained crazy fast during the day (and my phone is plugged in and charging while I'm in the car). I was caught out at 7pm with a full night ahead of me and only 20% of battery left... draining another percent every 10 minutes or so. Horrible.

I restarted the phone. Closed a ton of open apps. Turned off location services. No solution. The phone does not make it through a full day.

Last night, despite a couple of brief charges during the day, I ran out of juice. My battery was showing 5% left. I had a podcast on, and it just died on me. Wouldn't restart, the phone wanted to be plugged in. When I plugged it in it showed that I had 3% left on the battery. So not only is the battery draining far too quickly, but the indicator seems to be wonky as well as I thought I had at least 5% life left when it died on me.

Apple needs to do something fast. As it is I have to make sure I'm near a charger at some point during the day, which is unacceptable in my opinion.

People really shouldn't be expecting to get more than a day with usage before it needs a charge. I've never expected more than that. It's when I can't make it through a day, that's when I have a problem.

A lot of you guys are ridiculous.

I don't know why people are complaining about Usage when your phone is lasting a full day.

You should be charging it every night. Now if you have to charge in the middle of the day with little usage, then that is a problem.

Otherwise, if you pull it off the charger in the morning at 100% and it's still on when you go to bed, that in my opinion is great battery life. These aren't Nokia 3390's.

Bro... you obviously aint no playa. I spend every night in a new chicks bed, all because of my iPhone 4s, it gets me laid on a plenty. I can't be carrying no charger around with me all the time.

If it aint gonna hold a charge for like three or four days, how am I supposed to know which punani is next on the list for some sweet sweet pimpin love?

iPhone 4s makes me a balla!

I was doing great, then BAM. I have been getting constant error codes in the diagnostic center. I was told by Apple to wait for the update and that they would leave my case # open.

Sorry I shouldn't have to charge my phone every night. When I go to bed with 80-90% battery or even 60-70% battery, I expect to wake up with minimal loss. But instead my phone is tanking to almost dead in 6-8 hours overnight. This supposed "fix" better do the job. I refuse to charge my phone every night to cover up a potential flaw.

I think the main problem is for those of us who aren't making it through a full day. For the past week I've had to top up consistently every day, and I'm still running out of juice before the day is done. And I'm not doing anything heavy... no games, no videos, etc. This is not acceptable.
