Instaled the update absolutely no difference and battery drain.
if apple cannot solve this issue then they need to collect all iphone 4s return then wait for next iphone next summer ... that the best way
Hey v0n, glad to see someone else using NetStat
I've been using it since iOS4 to fix battery drain.
I've made a few tricks so my NetStat is totally clear, but it requires having all push turned off
The major culprit is being signed into the "Store" section in settings, this seems to keep 1 push connection open, even with all push off... and you get signed in every time you sync with iTunes, also in iOS5 it can bug out and not show you're signed in, when you are... clicking on sign in, and "new account", and then pressing cancel will occasionally crash you back to home screen, and when you go back into "Store" you're signed in for some reason... really bizarre
BTW, also glad you noticed this bug causes "usage" in standbyit's been doing that since iOS4
With a clear NetStat list, my data and "usage" doesn't go up at all over night
Wait, so are you saying logging out in the Store section in settings helps battery?
Went in with the understanding what would not be the end all be all of what you wanted??? I get the gist of your post but am confused by a couple points. Im not being a grammar nazi quite the opposite i just want to understand the parts i missed. ThanksLOL won't happen. I went in with the understanding of the sun would not be the end all and be all of what I was wanted. It's pretty cool with flaws. All of the other phones are worse. I just get annoyed with the Mac cult claiming that there are no flaws whatsoever. It doesn't just work. It is pretty damn cool with some serious flaws.
I agree, although it seems in my case the battery drainage comes and goes which freaks me out, but i got 29 hours of standby and 5 hours usage and almost 2 hours of that was playing infinity blade so I'm assuming thats pretty damned good.Wirelessly posted (iPhone 4S: Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 5_0_1 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/534.46 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.1 Mobile/9A405 Safari/7534.48.3)
I think my 4S is doing well on 5.0.1. Right now it has 18 hours, 30 minutes standby and 5 hours usage and I still have 34% life left.
I've used it a lot today and took it off the charger at 0230 this morning. Plenty of web browsing, email, texting, phone calls, a few games and I transferred a bunch of files from iDisk to Dropbox too.
I think the update fixed my battery issue.
So it looks like the update might've STARTED my battery problems... I didn't have this before. This sucks

I just got my iP4s last week. Restored from backup with 5.0. I didn't really have a problem with my previous iP4 with regards on the battery. The iP4s would indicate "usage" as standy, draining the battery. I got the OTA 5.0.1 and the problem "usage" indicator went away. I had messed up something on phone during regular activity. I didn't want to try and find a way to "undo" it and just restore it from backup since the backup I had was only 2 hours ago. I restored to 5.0.1 and found a noticeable improvement with the battery, better than OTA update. The percentage drop seem to be appropriate and the standy is accurate.
Here is my iP4s after I restored to 5.0.1
If I stop "maintaining" it actively and let it go, sooner or later, especially during working week when I move a lot, the "stoned" socket bug returns and I get 12-24 hours standby time from my phone.
I think that the usage number being the same as standby, even though the phone is locked, is what is killing my battery. I mean I don't even use the phone and it says it has a crazy amount of hours used. What kind of restore would best fix this? I feel something is preventing the phone from going into true standby or something is constantly running in the background.
