why you dont show how much storage you used total ?

song ?
video ?
photo ?
brightness 40 % change to 80 %

i bet you not gotta get 9 hour if include above setting

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think the amount of storage you use is tied in any way with your battery life.

I suppose one could argue that the more you have on your phone, the more likely you are to use it, but that's not necessarily the case, in my opinion.

Agreed, I have tried with empty phone and over 10gig music/video. No difference.

It is however idiotic to post "what is this thread about?" just because you got great battery life. Does not mean EVERYONE has a problem free phone. Talk about ignorant.

Well after having good battery life, last Saturday into Sunday the battery nightmare appeared. The update slowed it down but didn't fix it. Guess I am emailing the Apple Tech I have been conversing with to find out what the next step is.

Been through one full discharge cycle since the update and not seeing any discernible difference.

I unplugged yesterday at 3:30pm, made a couple of 1 minute phone calls, 20 minutes of music, about 20 texts and about 30 minutes of web-browsing.

It's a a bit past 10 in the morning the next day and i'm at 30%. From comparing (clearly not scientifically of course) to my sisters iPhone 4, her's would be at around the 70% mark or so.

Last night, my phone dropped 7% when it was asleep for about 6 hours. Never had this problem with my 4.

any notifications on? e-mail? I normally lose about 4% overnight and i normally get ESPN sportscenter alerts but switch e-mail off...7% is hardly terrible.

I have lost about 40% over 11 hours here at work..but saying that is due to no 3G coverage here so it is searching for a 3G connection.

I am almost curious to restore my iPhone 4S and not touch the factory settings. I've turned SO MANY features off at this point...

Now people want me to turn off iMessage?!

guys the i have the same problem: plug it in over night and wake up with it below 100%. its not a bug though, its more of a feature. when the battery reaches 100% it automatically stops charging so it doesn't get damaged.

I had no problems on 5.0 but on 5.0.1 I lose 18% overnight in 8 hours of Wifi standby, with Push, fetch and bluetooth all turned off and all apps killed.

Turning off iMessage fixed my drain issues as well as killing any active connection displayed by netstat

Yeah, im just going to learn to charge my phone whenever it gets to 20%. I refuse to turn off every thing. Feel like I have my android all over again. My blackberry curve from 2008 didn't have these issues with battery and that would last me two days strong.

lol your blackberry curve also wasn't a smart phone and wasn't cable of doing nearly as much stuff as your iphone can do, so keep that in mind

How do you kill the stuff displayed in netstat? I can not get rid of push.apple.com only in airplane mode. Also push.apple.com will always use 3G. I'll switch cell data off and it will jump to wifi but the second I enable cell data it's back over on 3G. All the other processes are on wifi. Also I noticed the personal hotspot is always searching when I turn cell data off and then back on. A restart clears that.

Turn off iMessage

Ever since I got my 4s I have had wonderful battery life with 2 days of usage. iOS 5.0.1 only improved it.

I have turned off all push notifications in mail/calendar/contacts, siri off, imessage off, ping off most location services off, hardly any notifications, no reminders, signed out of store and still cannot get rid of the push socket that have been mentioned here before.

It is frozen as suggested before, always using cellular even when wifi is on. Also had a socket frozen on wifi even after leaving the house to a site owned by akamai technologies.

Any tips on what I can try to turn off to get rid of the bz.push.apple socket is much appreciated.

On another note, this is my second phone and is just as bad as the one I sent back. Is it worth sending this one back too or is there no chance of it getting fixed?

Loosing 1% per hour over night with wifi off and nothing running. So that means 100hr battery life in standby. Half of what apple advertised.

Took phone off charge at 8am this morning... 100%. Its on 40% auto brightness, everything on, email set to manual. Sent a few texts, a bit of Facebook and twitter on 3G and GPRS... one phone call... and its now 10:23am and i'm down to 86%. That's not normal is it?

The usage stats are:

Usage: 52 Minutes
Standby: 2 Hours, 36 Minutes.

my battery was awesome yesterday and its shockingly pants today! took it off charge this morning about 8am and i've done nothing on it really except check emails. its lost 10% battery in 2 hours :s i mean i do drive though many bad signal areas and i know the iphone kills itself looking for a 3g signal all the time but still. i've also noticed that when i listen to music my battery goes quicker too. strange as it was ok yesterday.

i dont have icloud on, auto time has been disabled, all apps are closed when finished and i dont really have any push notifications on.

is an odd ball esp as yesterday the whole day when i plug it in it was at 33% about 10pm and i had used it alot more.
