My phone has been charged (25% remaining now) and it's been out of the charger since exactly 7am. It's now 11:31pm. I used whatsapp for an hour, played angry birds, heavily browsed the internet on wifi and on 3G, have push mail settings, used siri a few times, tons of texts and a few phone calls, and it's going strong. I'm very surprised considering the fact that yesterday and the day before the battery wouldn't last until 4pm. If anyones interested in my settings or anything feel free to ask.

it was more to get a feel for the "company line" and not so much an actual fix...

Yes. Make changes to settings that u should be able to use so we can use 1/2 of a phone and still have problems. Basically its a powerful phone that uses too much power and we have to live with it!!!!!

PLEASE share you settings! :eek:

I restored my phone last night as a new phone and only installed the necessary apps. Today's usage was much improved. I had 14.5 hrs standby and about 4 hrs usage and my battery just now was at 30%. I'm very happy with these numbers.

Phone pretty much makes maximum 6 hours usage with wifi on at some times of the day and 3G on at others... Guess this is decent battery life and what we need to live with now that we have the 4S.. I guess the main thing is, if it lasts me through a day... I'll be okay! Although, still isn't as good as the 4.

Judging by the experience people have gotten from the genius bar when their batteries were tested, it isn't necessarily a "battery problem" but a software problem... hopefully 5.1 will come out soon and we will all be relieved of this battery problem!

After two days I ended up with the following stats..
Usage: 11h 20m
Standby: 1d 6h

Not bad. I have ping, set timezone, location based iads, and diag/usage turned off, everything else is ON. I have an iCloud account, Google Apps (exchange), and a corporate exchange account all set to PUSH.

Wow...I'm SUPER jealous.

Wi-Fi Off (turn on only when necessary)
Location Services On
Location services->Camera-> Off
Compass-> Off
Facebook-> On (optional)
Maps->On
Safari-> Off
Siri-> On
Twitter->On
Weather-> On
Find my iPhone-> On
System Services-> All off except Cell Network Search

Settings->General->About->Diagnostics and Usage->Don't Send
Siri-> On
Bluetooth-> Off
iCloud-> All off except Documents & Data and Find my iPhone
Backup is off

Email settings set to Push with 3 email accounts
Twitter is on
Brightness set to 100% but I lower it sometimes

What I did was hard reset the phone when it was at 10% battery yesterday (hold down power and home button) and then I turned it on and drained the battery completely. I let it charge back up to 100%, I unplugged it, and plugged it back in for a half hour. Ever since it's been perfect :)
Might not be fool proof but worked for me!

Thanks! Gonna see what this does for me :)

I don't mean to rub it in, but on my non-problematic battery, I had to try to kill the battery. Had everything on but bluetooth and iCloud, screen was on full brightness, light texting/mailing, played a good hour of youtube at full brightness, listened to some music, and played some games for a while and it still took me nearly 48 hours to drain the thing to zero.

After that, I charged it up, and after close to 24 hours just using it as I needed (when I got a notification etc), I am still at 93% battery, with most everything turned on.:apple:

Hopefully this gives you an idea of what you could/should/may be able to expect if the phone is working properly.

So at this 93% status, what is the usage and standby times AS REPORTED in the Settings > General > Usage section on the phone. It's one thing for someone to say what you said, but it's another to see what the PHONE said. Stick to objective facts please. Not saying what you're saying isn't fact, but it's best to quote the phone in this regard.

Everyone should always quote the battery percentage and usage/standby times AS REPORTED WITHIN THE PHONE. ;)

You want a decisive minute?

Usage: 1 hour, 9 minutes
Standby: 23 hours, 44 minutes

Battery is at 91%.

Why would I lie? Look back through the thread, I've posted numerous times about my battery strength, using the usage/standby figures. Not really necessary at this point to give it to the minute.

EDIT: For the record, before I drained the battery down to zero, I charged it full at night before bed and then took it off, 10 or 11 hours later when I woke up I had 99% battery left, and I wasn't the only one in this thread with 99% the next morning (I posted that here too). Based on that, it isn't too inconceivable to extrapolate that if 11 hours of standby ate 1%, 22 hours would leave me at 98%. Mix in a bit of using it today as needed, and 93% seems right in line for a minimally used phone around the 24 hour mark.

Definitely not calling you a liar at all. But such a small amount of usage actually explains the huge standby and high percentage of battery life left. Not saying it's not amazing, as it is, but I mean.. you barely used the phone. That's all.

So after turning off all system services except cell network search, having siri/reminders/maps on in location services, wi-fi off, and bluetooth on, I'm at 64% 10:25pm from 100% 12:15pm. 2 hours of usage, 10 hours of standby. I used mail, set up reminders with siri, sent texts using siri, checked weather with siri, watched videos, played canabalt/fruit ninja/fragger, used facebook messenger, facebook, tapatalk, music through bluetooth in my car for about 30 minutes, took a few pictures, made a few calls, and checked out the app store. Pretty good I'd say. I think turning off system services helped a lot.

New finding!!!
Here is something interesting for all of you. The battery is too weak for the dual core. Same with the charger. I am noticing an interesting behavior. Even after all the fixes above, as soon as I charges iPhone and use it last 99-100 % jump tales a while. After that every so often it will go from 100% charged (the plug) to 100% charging (lighting bolt). I am seriously starting to think its not just OS if anything. Any IMF you guys are experiencing this?!

Now that I think of it, this could explain the maximum 97-96 percent charge some are getting at times.
Btw yeah that just happened! I think our chargers are too weak as well. Just like you need a bigger charger for the iPad, we might need the same thin if this is indeed not just a software glitch.
