Here is a snapshot of my last charge.

It is nothing special...like some stated, it all depends on what applications you are using. The phone was ported from 3G backup.

I measure my battery health while I sleep when the phone is on standby mode. I get about 1% loss every 2 hours on standby.

My usage:
listening to music
playing games
answering/making calls
little surfing
downloading apps

Again, these numbers are based on less intensive battery drain activity. I don't have email set up or icloud...my location is off...wifi off.

I can show better numbers if I just play my music 24 hours...

So my point is that all these numbers are meaningless if we don't know the exact minutes/hours of each usage.

no f'n way do you get this good of life from your battery. even if you do, you're using your phone like an iPod touch

I can get 6 hours max and all i do is pull my phone out to text, browse for a little, take a few phone calls and check facebook rarely. Im on wifi for a lot of it. my standby is good I got 1% drain for 4 hours last night when i slept. But 6 hour MAX and thats rare to get that kind of usage. Usually 5 hours average. As soon as i turn the screen on it drops so fast.

5 quick fixes to fix battery iphone with os 5

1. Turn off bluetooth if you are not using it
2. Under notfications shut off calander and reminders (if not using them)
3. under general and restrictions turn off ping
4.under general and about, go to diagonstic, turn off auto send
5 under location services. then system services turn off time zone

Bonus, always quit Facebook from the multitasking bar, it seems to always be on in the background.

I did all of this and went from losing 2% every 15 mins, to losing only dropping 2% over an hour and half.

When i leave all these features ON on my iphone 4 with the same software, i still get 25-35% better battery life. Therefore, you cannot call this a real fix.

Mine is much better after where I was at before
fe0dabcf.jpg

For the past two days in a row it's been about like this. I restored it, set it up as a new phone and grabbed my info from iCloud. Turned off that time zone setting thing and turned push off.

For those interested the 5.0.1 patch seems to have atleast made things better for me. Before the patch my battery drained 5% an hour on standby with no programs running and alot of stuff turned off.

Now I've done some light usage and had it on standby for about an hour and only gone from 100 to 99%. Will report at the end of the day if the battery starts dropping fast again.

False alarm, after a two more hours I've now lost 20% of my battery with very light usage. Might be alittle better during standby, but alot worse during use.

I had an iPhone 4S from launch day with a S/N starting with D, the battery was terrible. I was lucky if I got 1hr 30mins usage and a 1.5 days standby. I took the phone to the genius bar this last Tuesday, he tested it and said the battery was fine, he showed me the results. They said at the last charge I had gotten over 5hrs usage and over 2 days standby and I had 89% left when I plugged it in, now with those figures I would have been overjoyed.

Unfortunately they weren't correct, the last charge I had actually only got 1hr 30mins usage and just over 1 days standby, the phone turned off at 1%. Then he noticed my phone had never made a phone call according to the test software, this was incorrect as the phone itself was showing several calls had been made. The Genius's conclusion was that something was seriously wrong with the 4S, and he he changed it. The new iPhone 4S serial starts with a C.

Now it's Thursday morning and the battery is what the first phone should have been, it received a full charge on Tuesday night, and it now has over 3hrs usage and 1day 12hrs standby with 51% remaining.

Is there a problem with serial numbers starting with D or was it a rogue phone, how many other people are being told by Apple there batteries are fine when clearly they aren't, either due to faulty testing software or faulty phones giving incorrect readings on the software, I would think the latter is most likely.

Both iPhones had everything turned on except Bluetooth and location services Setting Time zone,

didn't you post an hour ago that 5.0.1 was improving your battery life

My serial no starts with D. Getting 6 hours usage max with around 17 hrs standby. Is that bad? It's definitely worse than my 4 by a long way.

Standby power loss is fine, it's just as soon as you start using it, it drops fast.

didn't you post an hour ago that 5.0.1 was improving your battery life

Seemed to do so, but have now lost about 20% over 2hrs with very, very light usage. 5.0.1 seems to change how it works. Standby maybe alittle better but normal usage still drains it very, very fast.

Does battery calibration reset or carry over when doing a DFU reset? Might be that I have not done one since installing 5.0.1?

The phone says 1hr usage and 2hrs standby since last full charge and of that usage about 15 mins is surfing on 3g. 5 mins surfing on wifi. 20mins listening to music and 5 mins phonecall. Rest is just checking settings etc.

Now I am sure that is not supposed to drain 21% of the battery!

Only during a three minute phonecall the percentage dropped two points.

This is for iphone 4S users, I am not sure how it works on the 4, all I know is doing these steps on my 4s improved the battery dramatically.

I'm not even going to attempt to figure out what that means, but you keep living the dream in your parents basement and baking that bread we all love.

Your use of the English language is what I meant. Look over your post if you are unable to figure it out.

Just an FYI, I own my own house, two cars, three kids and work. But just so you can feed your ego some more, you make more money than me.

I can confirm that the beta release has helped my battery life.

Anyone can confirm whether or not battery "calibrating" is deleted or not during DFU reset (or other kinds of reformating)?

By tuning I mean using the phone untill it dies and then recharging to 100% in one go to so the software better knows what is 0 and what is 100%.

A battery fix can not come soon enough. I have had my iPhone 4S since it was released, and hadn't noticed a problem. That was until monday when I put the battery percentage on. My god, the thing went from 100% to 93% in a whole 14 minutes of me writing and responding to email. UGH.

Exactly my situation but it's far worse on 3G than wifi. My iPod touch had great battery life on doing emails. SMS seems to slaughter this phone brutally.

Put on a locally cached podcast at the gym, a video one? Plays an hour, loses a few percent.

I think they must have crappy, crappy optimization on the radios and only for cellular. Wifi remains respectable.

REALLY? Must you further the Apple stereotype of a typical user further?
Charging all day is fine if you sit at a desk. I'm concerned about losing my phone when I go out for a half-day ride.

Battery pack? Why not put a big one in in the first place?

5.0.1 or not

OK what have I missed; I see these post about 5.0.1. when I plugged in today and looked for the latest version it said I had it 5.0.
Is there an update out or not...

thanks...wish you all would make that a little clearer for us little people, LOL
are you a developer, and if so have you downloaded and is there any difference,...

Yes, I'm in the developer program however I haven't downloaded the beta. Have a look at this thread (just noticed it) as it may prove informative as more developers add their input.

Seriously, is it the new internet forum craze when you look like an idiot, critique someones grammar or as you put it, my "use of the English language"? It's cute, when do we go on to the "Yo mama" jokes. I reread my post, my use of English is just fine. Lets hope your wife is the one who helps your kids with their homework.

My issue with your comment is that you don't have a clue what anyone does for a living here. I could have been in construction on a road crew, on the NYSE floor, a corrections office, ect. To make an idiotic statement like "just plug it into a wall" is just that, idiotic.

So I'm at 60% after:

2 Hours, 11 Minutes Usage
3 Hours, 45 Minutes Standby

Fine with me.

It was made pretty clear by the gigantic news posts on the front page of the website who's forum you are posting in.

Not trying to be a jerk, but come on. Also, 5.0.1 makes some difference.
