I just received a WaxStick White case, and wow is it ever nice. The camera whole site flush with the phone, the hold button switch has a really nice tactile feedback, and the volume rockers seem a little more squishy compared to the previous candy shells. Also the build quality is alot nicer too compared to the last candy shell (cranberry one) I got... which i had to return because the red color lines that were in the corners were crooked and the hold switch rubber area had a deep scratch in it.

Overall this case seems a little bit more flexible too compared to last and it seems easier to put on and take of! I definitely recommend it

I got it for 17.50 (using a coupon code) but then shipping was 17$ for internation... so it came to ~<40 CAD.

I have to admit that I was excited by the look of this case by the pictures on this thread so I went to my Apple store and tried it out. For one, I couldn't get the volume buttons to do anything at all. Maybe it wasn't in the case quite right, but either way, the buttons were way too difficult to use for me. Also, I felt the case looked a little cheaper in person then it does in the pictures. Even after all the complaints about the Reveal scratching, I decided to go with it because it really does look the best. Again, just my opinion, but just a warning for others reading this thread to maybe try it out at a store if you can before you go ordering it off the internet.

are you sure your phone wasnt locked when you tried to change the volume... you would have to slide the bar on the phone first to see the icons and only then the volume changes... it works nicely on mine (better than the previous gen candy shells)

It was over a week ago so I can't say for sure, but I hope I wasn't that dumb. I've had iRealQuickSMS for a while now, so even on the lock screen if i hit a volume button, something pops up. Maybe it was just a rare defective case? Not sure.

yea its possible... I guess from personal experience too that not all cases are of the same quality... its always nice to try out a few before finalizing :)

My wife has the blue one on her white phone I can take photos of if anyone wants to see it.

I would love to see the blue one on a white iPhone.

I just picked up a batwing at the apple store today. And I have to say that it is the sleekest looking case. I have always loved the candyshell because of it's awesome protection without scratching the phone. But finally they made a color that I can stand. I love this case. Good call Speck

Just got my Batwing today. I had a Feather on for the past 2 weeks and this thing felt big at first, but I like it so far. My buttons work very well. Yes, the back is going to scratch, but as someone said above, that's what cases are for.

Has anyone tried the enclosed screen protector? I don't use one right now - just like the 3GS screen by itself better, but keep thinking I need to cover it.

I have the older CandyShell Grey and Green case and I just ordered the batwing black. I LOVE this case. I don't know why everyone keeps talking about how the back will scratch. Mine is not scratched at all because I never put it down on it's back. It goes face down all the time because of how it's made with the softer rubber being a little raised all around the chrome ring, it's a no brainer to lay it face down that way.
It's perf!

The volume buttons can take some lining up and they can get better after breaking in. I had to put my case on a few times first.

I'm surprised you thought it looked cheap though! Maybe it was a bad cast job. I've had 3 now and loved them all :)

A week after buying the case...

And im really happy with my purchase. Main reasons why i bought the case:
#1-protection #2 looked good.

Well the phone is really well protected inside of this case, it does a great job.
I like my black case, i think it looks great. Its not too flashy, its a very good balance between appearance and protection.

Things i dont like... I find the case to be a little buck, not too much but still. I rather have a little buck and protection then no bulk and no protection.
The other thing, which is something that really annoys me right now, but apparently can be fix, is the buttons. I dont like the feel of the sleep and volume buttons, since there is no feel. Everyone says to break the case in, and i cant wait for mine to be...
Other then that, scratches are minors and you need a good light and a close look to see them, no biggie.

overall im very happy with it, and it will be even better when I brake in the case.

I love this case. I think for me, I've finally found my perfect case. I like the extra Little bit of bulk. I like the added protection, and I have larger hands, so it's perfect for me. The lay on the table design is a perfect height, it doesn't effect the screen shield like some sliders do, and the new color choices are fantastic. The buttons all work for me, zero issues. I don't mind the back scratching, that's what the case is for. I've had a lot of cases, and this is by far my favorite.

I'll try to post those blue pictures later tonight

I have had my batwing for a few days now. And I really love it. I had the grey/green combo before this and the buttons were tough on that one. But I noticed that there is a difference between those buttons and the new ones. Not only do I get a tactile feedback when I hit the buttons, but there is a click to it when I hit them.

So overall, I love my case.

I got the case yesterday. Batwing Black. I love it ! I am coming from a generic black gel case from ATT, which was horrible.

Anyways the case the great. Very sturdy and seems like it would hold up well if it were to bump or fall. I like the soft inner sole of the case. The back is shiny and looks great.

It will scratch eventually since its plastic, but so far I haven't had any issues or atleast nothing major. I don't place the phone on its back. Always face down.

The lip provides a safe way to lay down the phone. The grey rubber outline along the front also provides grip when laying on the face so it doesn't slide around.

The feel is good. Little bulky at first, but i got use to it really quickly and dont mind it.

The buttons seem fine to me. They are different though. You don't get a 'click' feeling to it. Just softly press it and it responds.

Is there a break-in period ? Not sure. I will update in a few days.

I would definitely recommend it. I have no plans in purchasing another case now. Very happy with the candy shell.

Also, I will post some pictures tonight.

Just got mine today and the build quality alone is terrible!! I was so looking forward to this case! Now I fear I have to return it! The case does not fit right I played with it long enough to figure out how to get the volume rocker to work but now the case bows a bit were the volume rocker is and that gap is big enough to let dirt in. LAME. and the bottom does not touch the iphone, the small strip on the screen side of the charger plug I can look straight through and see light! WTF! Looks like a return for me. but don't be surprised the only case I have used for more than a month was the switch easy Neo but that had its problems too but it never let a scratch in past the thin membrane!

I only post this to see if anyone has any ideas on maybe how to fix these issues I am having as I can not!

just got my batwing black.. LOVE IT!! I was using an otterbox defender case before my candyshell and I'll be sticking with the candyshell! I even ordered the previous version (grey and watermelon) on amazon for $23!

to the above poster... get it swapped out, and give the candyshell a chance its a great case... and as far as the volume rocker and sleep buttons go mine feel just fine!

ps- otterbox defender case is a great durable case but sacrificing usability for durability is not a sacrifice Im willing to make!

You musta gotten a bumm case.
Get it exchanged.
It's a GREAT case.

Can anyone comment on the size headphone jack that would fit with this case? I really like this case and have ordered one for my new iphone and am keeping my fingers crossed it will fit with my earphones (had heard in some other reviews that it might not work with oversized earphones). I have etymotic er4 http://www.heartoronto.ca/Store/images/products/Etymotic ER4P.jpg

Any thoughts or comments would be appreciated! I already ordered the black/grey off Amazon so I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that it works and I don't have to return them.

Problem with Black Speck Candyshell

I got a Speck Candyshell in Black/Grey. Put my iphone into it last night and for some reason it is pressing constantly against the up volume button on the side.

I bought it online from mygearstore.com and live in the UK. Waited the week for it to get here and was so looking forward to using it but whatever I've tried I am unable to stop the volume button from sticking on up.

Any ideas.

if you remove it and press from the inside of the case outward right where the volume rocker is with some force it'll give a little... do this for a few minutes and then reinsert the iphone. Remember when putting on the case always put the button side of the iphone in first. Hope this helps.

Speck Candyshell Black

Hi topherg,

Just tried that. Two things happened. The glue in the corners started to stretch and the case is now uneven on that side. I think the case is a dud and will be telling both Speck and mygearstore that.

Thanks for your help.

Got a black one about a week ago and i LOVE IT! feels solid in the hands and has some excellent protection

Aw! I'm sorry man! I had the same problem with my black candyshell and it worked for me! I just bought the older color scheme on amazon (the grey and orange) for $23 and I've gotten so many compliments on it. Let us know how your exchange process goes.
