yes, be mad at this grave social injustice and the virtual shackles it is clamping on your very lifestyle.

please, do not use reason and common sense in this place. it is forbodden!

Ooh an apple apologist ... Heh

WEll I believe it's annoying to have these apps nobody wants

Heh, I'm not criticizing anyone for their choice of music service(s). What I am criticizing people for are the following:
  1. Making comments about the utility of streaming services without actually having tried one
  2. Jumping to conclusions about the manner in which this functionality will be built into iOS. The main article here could've been written by any of us at any point in the last several months, as it is a given that the streaming service will be integrated into iOS eventually. The point is that no one really knows how. People are making the assumption that Apple is simply going to require the current Beats Music app to be installed on every device going forward. The reality is that they will likely re-brand and integrate the functionality into the Music app. In which case, it will be neither bloat ware nor an extra app on the home screen.

----------

So Apple should rip out iCloud as well, then?

How do you know people haven't tried it ? It seems you're the one jumping to conclusions. I tried it briefly when Apple first announced the acquisition of Beats, but didn't like it at all.

Whether or not it's "built-in" or a forced app, it's bloatware, along with at least 6-10 other forced apps/functionalities.

How do you leap from streaming service to iCloud ?
Look who's making assumptions now.

apple is turning into Microsoft with their forced bundling!

lol what's next apple? Stickers on your iPhone saying A8 chip inside?!

Actually it's more like Apple is turning into Verizon with their forced bundled apps on Android phones... Only difference? At least you CAN delete those apps!

I'm glad many of the initial comments are 'another app that I won't use a can't delete...' it really is annoying! I'm glad I plan on keeping the mini 2 on iOS 7 for now, and I use a Note 4 where amazingly we can disable preinstalled apps that we don't use. What's with Apple these days?

Why not just replace iTunes Radio in the Music app with this? We don't need another bundled app that can't be delete. I mean I can Understand if You Hook Us all up with Free Subscriptions. Like when We Purchase a New Apple Product. That would be nice. Like PAGES & all them apps.

It is fairly obvious from some comments that the users bashing streaming services have not tried them, as they do not conceptually understand the offering or why someone would be interested in using it. They are basing their opinions almost wholly on their pre-conceived notion about the Beats brand. This is one reason why I believe that Apple will re-brand the service and drop the Beats name. There is simply too much baggage that it carries currently.

The original spirit of the term "bloatware" has been lost at this point, as people regularly use it to describe anything they do not like regardless of the utility or usage that other users may find therein. The term was originally coined to describe third party software that was loaded onto PCs (anti-virus, printer ink deals, etc) on top of the stock Windows OS image after the fact. This typically took place in retail settings and had no value to the end user. Do I agree that stock apps can't be deleted or hidden? No. Do I consider a new service or feature set being added to a stock app as "bloatware"? No.

My response regarding iCloud was intended to draw a parallel between services that Apple offers today and the streaming music service, as the poster I was replying to had made the claim that it is wrong for Apple to include software that has a subscription or purchase component. I.E. Plenty of this exists today in iOS, but no one really complains about it. They simply don't use it if they don't feel the need.

The vast majority of the replies in this thread are predicated on the notion that Apple is simply going to add Beats Music as a stock app to iOS that cannot be deleted. I do not believe this to be the case, and there is no evidence to the contrary at this point.

tl;dr - everyone needs to chill out until we really know what's going on.

If you can download this App from the App store, I would assume it would be deletable if you didn't want it.

You can assume whatever you want. Maybe you'll turn out to be right, maybe not. Based on Apple's track record I can't blame people for not giving them the benefit of the doubt. And if Apple really wants to push beats and "include" it, making it an optional download would defeat the whole purpose. Not to mention that Beats is already a free app, having it be a free download from the app store wouldn't be a change at all in strategy from what they're doing right now.

Not an iOS comment, but if they integrate it into iTunes on the OSX version I might switch from Spotify, who offers an OSX application that Beats currently doesn't.

I like Beats' playlists better I think, but the lack of a fully featured (the web player doesn't have all the features of the iOS version) desktop app drops it to a low second place behind Spotify for me.

Just wish Apple would get iTunes Radio on iOS in the UK, rather than working on stuff like this.

I can't keep tack of all these different streaming services. I just want one that has all the songs, the ability to upload my own music into the cloud, excellent radio features, and a clean design on both desktop and mobile.

Please no. Please stop forcing more bundled apps with iOS.

At the very least, Apple should include a delete function for stock apps we don't want/need. Then this becomes a non-issue, and the people who want Beats can be happy, while the people who don't want it are not affected.

Thank god they increased the capacity of folders, so my junk folder can hold it.

How much space is now used up by Apple bloatware? Must be at least a GB lost....

Bundled. As in free. As in GET.

As in IMPOSE / FORCE.
In the next keynote they can act surprised (wow) and tell us they couldn't be more happy with the extremely high percentage of iOS devices running the latest and greatest music streaming service in the entire world.

Does Beats have classical music?

Or only ghetto "Dr" Dre crap?

This is the perception that Apple needs to change. People have no idea what the service is or what it offers.

Yes, it has every genre of music with essentially every song and artist you could imagine. The curated playlists are great.

Why do you people post such ignorance. Beats music is like spotify premium. They have all types of music not just "ghetto" music. You sound ignorant.

It's not apples fault people are idiots.

Ghetto? That term is very misapplied for obvious reasons. Beats has all types of music actually and if you used the app you could see that for yourself.

I really hold people in contempt to instantly associate the term Ghetto with a musician who happens to be black. Should we use the term Redneck with country music and instantly associate that with carrie underwood just because she is why?

Sorry that your precious apple is no longer snow white.

Fix itunes instead

Why can't they just get streaming music right in iTunes? IMO:

- iTunes should be about music
- Bloatware should come out of iTunes including any phone syncing component not about music - including apps, photos, notes, tv shows, books etc. It just makes it all harder to use.
- iTunes should be a focussed music app at least as straight forward and easy to use as Spotify who apple is now chasing.

Yet, another person that lives in the past. We're almost into iOS 9. Live in the past and be forgotten or move on Sir Snow Leopard.

And some iOS 7 bugs were never fixed, iOS 8 was a mess out of the gate and it won't be completely ironed out by the time iOS 9 arrives with a new set of problems. Good thing Apple's not like Microsoft releasing buggy software.

I don't care if people forget about the OS I'm using. When they make iOS 9, it'll probably suck even worse on my phone.

i don't have a problem with it being part of an existing app, but no an additional all..

Will people still say the same "It's not an issue" when we see iPhone are bundled with 30+ additional apps in the near future?
