Yes. However, they are headphones. Apple could have easily made a range of headphones itself an possibly made just as much money without shelling out $3 billion.
Apple was buying hipness, not technology.

They bought access to audio engineers.

You made me watch it. I was left unimpressed :(.

That wasn’t true prior to acquisition - the decent products part. Only after Apple came in to the picture do they sell good (not just decent) products now.

That’s, like, your opinion man.

Wish it was

https://www.digitaltrends.com/home-...inds-metal-parts-included-just-to-add-weight/ An example of first gen solo wireless (Apple wasn’t in the picture when these were designed and manufactured).

That is just one of many, including huge criticism of using drivers/components found on low end cheap headphones and putting it in their flagship!

Now compare it to say the Studio 3, for me which competes well (and I prefer them) to the Bose QC35 and the 1000XM2.

Anyway, back to the original comment of why did Apple acquire this “tacky” product, it was for the steaming business empire rather than the headphones. Apple Music wouldn’t be what it is without this acquisition.

Is it just me asking this question: why did Apple buy this tacky product? o_O

They bought it because it fit perfectly with the direction Apple is heading: lifestyle brand, very high margins, customers are more concerned with the product as a status symbol than it’s quality or utility, associated with a designer/brand/name that will stand the test of time....and for their music service.

Think about it this way, if Nike wanted to sell the Jordan brand, Under Armour would sell their souls to acquire it. Same thing here.

That green and blue color scheme is fly af. I’d totally buy em if I liked over-the-ear headphones and didn’t own AirPods already.

You’ve got me. You found a negative review of something online.

UGLY!

The attempt is to put these headphones out with attractive colors, and, they have failed terribly. The colors are all the pastel version of each of those colors, i.e., the washed-out version of each color!

Apple could've gone with their iPod 5 spectrum.

No, children will not like these colors, as claimed in an earlier post.

There's a big difference between "forum life" and reality. In tech forum life arrogant pseudo-techies who think they know everything look down on everyone else, pronouncing them stupid if they buy Apple or Beats products. In the real world Beats is one the most popular brands as is Apple with millions of customers who apparently don't take advice from their techie wannabe overlords, i.e their nerd cousins and neckbeard brothers.

You might need to step outside and take a breath lol.

Why are Solo3 at that size not "true" wireless? Makes no sense. I'd buy them immediately if they had no wire.

How do you propose they be more wireless?

There is a rumor Apple is working on “truly wireless” over-ear headphones but that will take a very innovative design to get right.

Think calling a tear down a review is a bit strange. It either has the components inside or it doesn’t? This isn’t a sound test.

I’m all for opinions, but we need to separate evidence from subjective opinions too. Otherwise we can say the crazy anti-vaccination groups that plague society have an equal and valid opinion as anyone else.

Does the Note 7 explode? Yes it does, not an opinion. Is the SSD soldered on the new MacBook? Yes it is as shown in the tear down.

My bad, I used an incorrect word. I still don’t see how that equates to Beats sucking before Apple, though. Even that article says good things about the Solo2. And none of it talks about whether the product actually is sturdy or if the sound is good.

If you can't sell your over priced garbage, instead of coming out with new stupid colors, maybe think about improving your product. Nah, that makes too much sense.

What you fail to understand, is that headphone colors relate to a person's emotions / character. This is like saying.. "Why does Apple not make better phone / iPad case / Watch Bands instead they introduce new colors". Color Extensions are about appealing to the fashion conscious individual, not the tech junkie living in his parents basement in South Dakota. o_O

I think whoever designed those in-ear beats never actually used them outside running, jogging or cycling. The stupid bulky square shape creates wind turbulence, making a loud roaring sound around your ear, exactly the opposite of what you want when trying to listen to something. I cant ever recommend them, quite useless.

Your headphone brand advice please.

This seems an appropriate place to ask this. What brand is the Beats sound similar to?

I have tried several brands of headphones and earphones.

Sennheiser, I love. Anything Sennheiser is exciting and very pleasurable to listen with.

Brands I have found fair but uninteresting: Bose, Ultimate Ears, AKG

Brands I have actively disliked: Shure, B&W

Where is Beats likely to fit on this spectrum? I'd really appreciate your advice.

Thanks,
Hugh Jigo

I need completely wireless Powerbeats because my AirPods are not cutting it in the gym.

I use them to run about 30km a week. How fast are you running to create turbulence? as I have really enjoyed them the last six months I have had them.

Also color is triggering me so much, it’s colour. Lol
