I think you're right. Tim's meeting with May clearly paid off!
Huh, the maths works out well for us, yeah.

$150 (USA price) converted into £, plus 20% VAT, gives an expected UK price of £144. We save £14.

Yay, finally! :D

Well in my case I would give the Airpods away if I bought these. I am wondering what kind of range they have? I love the Airpods but wouldn't mind something that is a step up in audio quality.

Not an urgent need by any means maybe I will wait and see how things progress in the next year. BT5 and all that jazz....

I would never go back to wired headphones after having a BT set.

I can't imagine putting someone else's sweaty wax-funked devices in my ears, even if they were a free hand-me-down.

I really wanted get these but knowing they are not sweat proof I can't pull the trigger :( I was looking to use them for running/biking with the Apple Watch, but living in Phoenix they'll probably die during the summer. Also from the review videos the wires did seem a bit longer than I had hoped. Ugh.

Just picked my pair up from Apple Covent Garden, London.....apart from the initial issues with paying for them....the sound I can confirm is really clear, crisp and with a load of depth to the sound......

Lets see how they go over the next couple of days

Well thank you very much Mrklaw, I was at Covent G at 10:15 and they had none left, had to go down to Bromley haha! I like them, surprising how close the quality is to the Studios which cost over £300!

I don't get it, the only place that was prepared with stock on hand was the Apple store? In my area Target and Bestbuy says delivery only. And I don't know who else would sell the beatsx locally.

Calling out gratuitous rudeness.

It's the internet, and the original comment was both dumb and arrogant. That's a sure fire way to get a rude response. Smart and arrogant, maybe worth a listen. Dumb and mellow gets a pass. Being both dumb and arrogant invites rude slap-downs. Welcome to the world. I suggest getting used to it and learning the de facto rules.

Ordering these now. I have the beats solo3 and the W1 chip is amazing. I hated bluetooth headphones with the hissing and the sound that cut out and the steps it takes to pair it. The W1 chip has solved all of these issues. Please Apple put the W1 chip in a water proff version of the beats pill.

Well move to a place like Thailand where people aren't quite as spoiled. i am sure I will have no problem giving them to somebody here. You know that it is possible to sanitize them right?

Anyway, why couldn't they have just put a W1 in the Wireless Studio and brand it 2.5? Consistent connection would be nice.

So let me get this right? You all are willing to shell out 150$ just cause of a w1 chip that will save you roughly 1 min from pairing the device? Jaybirds have much better sound quality and can be had for under 100$. Wow the apple juice is strong.

Appears Apple kept the original shipment to their stores only. Not surprising since demand will be high and they can be shipped.

Not special just convenient.
I know. I own the AirPods. I mean, you spend 20 seconds pairing Bluetooth headphones, then years pass and you don't do it again.

I'm just giggling at the notion that the W1 bonanza is so amazing and magical. It really isn't but cool, 18 seconds saved once I suppose. Neat. And yes, I own multiple Apple devices so I know it makes switching between them a bit simpler. Still gets confused at times though.

And no the W1 isn't responsible for audio fidelity. Placebo.

It's not the initial pairing that spectacular, it's the ability to switch on the fly between other apple devices. Has been extremely useful.

Still wondering why exactly they were interested in Beats.
There is no technology, it's just branding and Apple has a stronger brand themselves.
Establishing Apple as a headphone brand wouldn't have taken too long.

Apple is polarizing. Beats brand appeals to people with other hardware, even those who are against Apple. I have several friends who would never own an iPhone, but enjoy their Solo's.

Be interested in opinions as to how they compare to Jaybird BluBud X2's sound-wise. Will need to be good to snatch those out of my rotting corpse hands.....

Get rid of that awful "b" logo or refresh it.

Don't flatter yourself. No one is looking at your ears close enough to notice the small B anyways. If that's the case you have better things to worry about when working out.

Fun fact:
In Mexico Air Pods are sold on apple.com for 3599 MXN$ or about 177 US$;
BeatsX are sold for 2799 MXN$ or about 137US$.
40US$ of difference it's something I personally consider significant.

If you were buying a headphone company, which one would you buy? Would you buy one with:
A. Highest market share
B. Highest revenue
C. Highest profit
D. Highest margins
E. Streaming service
F. Ubiquitous brand recognition that crosses all platforms
G. All the above

Apple chose G. Smartly, in my opinion.

Did they have many in the Covent Garden store? Tempted to try my luck tomorrow as my pickup at White City has been postponed due to an error.
My guess was about 20 pairs on the shelves but unsure of actual stock out the back

Hehe, those "issues with paying" must have been because they were meant to be reserved for in-store pickup! Covent Garden said they sold mine to someone else... so that could've been you! Haha, how comfortable are they? Enjoy them! :p
I have a thought that they may have put the wrong stock out as none of the barcodes for the prices were visible....

It seems like a lot of people are buying both airpods and beats x. Airpods for general use. Beats for gym for noise isolation. Apple sure know how to get people to buy multiple products.

The perfect earphones would be airpods with some kind of beats type fit seal for noise isolation or at least the option of. Then you get the best of both worlds.

But then you wouldn't get people buying two products instead of one. Sneaky ;)
I bought the AirPods specifically because they don't create a seal. If I'm wearing earphones while walking down the street or driving, I still want to be able to hear what's going on around me.

For someone who owns an iMac, MBA, iPhone and iPad and switch between these devices regularly, it's precious seconds saved whenever I use my airpods, and which makes all the difference between me using a pair of wireless earphones and not bothering at all in the first place.

I prize convenience and ease of use first and foremost. It doesn't matter how good the sound quality of a pair of headphones is if it's so inconvenient or uncomfortable to use that I end up not bothering with it in the first place. And after experiencing the convenience of the W1 chip and the iCloud sync, I don't think I can go back to a regular pair of headphones ever again, wireless or otherwise.

I had been anxiously waiting on these for months, so I put in an order for the Gray. Waiting another 2 weeks isn't a big deal as long as these had already been delayed anyhow.

The phrase "Get rid of that awful 'b' logo or refresh it" is not an example of dumbness or arrogance. Dude, he just doesn't like the darn logo. Relax.
