It's days like this that make me wish I had a local Apple Store to wander down to, but I don't. Ordered online and should be here by the 15th.
I was hoping to replace my X3's with these, mainly for the convince of the W1 chip. But I don't think that is happening, for the following reasons:
-Stated to not be sweat/water resistant. I run, a lot. When I run, I sweat like a normal person, and sometimes it rains. I find it a bit misleading that the Beats website actively advertises these with people working out.
-The size of the cord is a bit ridiculous. The magnetic clasp is nice, but I am a larger guy, and they can hang down past my chest. I imagine running with these will result in a lot of movement noise.
-The Jaybirds X3s and the BeatsX sound comparable, I would be hard pressed to pick one, but its not that simple. The Jaybird X3s have an amazing little app that allows you to adjust the EQ, or pick from custom made EQ. It really makes for some awesome sounding headphones, and you can customize for what you are doing, rapidly.
I really want a pair of headphones that have the X1 chip. The X3s have the newer bluetooth, but the ability to connect multiple devices to the X3 is actually annoying to me. I always have Bluetooth on with my iPad,iPhone, MacBook, etc; as it enables multiple features. Unfortunately, that means if I am listening to bluetooth on my watch or iPhone, and actively moving in and out of distance of the other products, I constantly get a voice notification (headphone connected) every few minutes.
I thought about jumping to the Solo3, and keeping the X3 for working out, but the solo3 reviews are great. I could do the same with the BeatX, but $150 seams like a lot to pay for the same form factor in the X3, if I plan on keeping the X3s anyway.
