doesn't b&o h5 do this?
Yep. Even cheap models with magnetic buds do this (e.g. this one). I can't believe Apple overlooked such an obvious usability improvement. I was hoping they'd have similar ease of use as the Airpods, i.e. to be able to turn them on easily when receiving a phone call by just unclipping them and sticking one into my ear.

They continue to use up the battery if you don't turn them off manually. I just left them hanging around my neck for an hour and they dropped from ~85% to ~70% during that time. Apparently there is no auto-sleep either as long as they are connected?!

Were you bundled up, if so did the wires catch on your jacket or hat if wearing one? I just picked mine up and the wires are catching on my jacket collar and frankly it's driving me nuts. My wired Apple earpods do the same thing for $149 less. The sound is great however, not sure about long term comfort, for me.

I was wearing a hoodie and a baseball cap, I did not have any issues with the wires catching onto anything.

Anyone figure out how to get the three free months of Apple Music with these? I registered but did not get the code.
When you register, there is a promo code you enter from the card that came with the BeatsX and then it opens another link for you to log into your iTunes. You should also receive an email with the link and also the redemption code to manually enter in case the link doesn't work.

Thank you! I missed the card when I pulled the stuff out.

The Airpods don't switch automatically either.
Really? I thought that was one of the advantages of the AirPods.

So I did a search and I misinterpreted what I originally read. The W1 chip makes it easy to pair FOR THE FIRST TIME. You still need to select the AirPods (and the BeatsX) from the Bluetooth settings or Control Center/Now Playing pane on your other iOS 10 devices.

Oh well. Maybe next generation?

Apple's software makes it a bit easier to switch devices in some cases (you don't have to manually disconnect the earphones from a currently connected Apple device to be able to connect them to a new one). But yes, overall the benefit is rather small as it is currently implemented. They may be able to add auto-switching in future iOS/MacOS updates though.

Hmm the grey ones on the apple site went from shipping feb 22-27 this morning to 2-3 weeks xD

Picked mine up today and I have to say, I love them so far. The AirPods are lovely and a good bit of technology, but sound quality, isolation, and comfort were all lacking. The BeatsX are super comfortable, sound is excellent (seriously, Apple's takeover of Beats really knocked down the bass a level or two in a great way), the isolation is perfect for a NYC subway, and they just feel like great quality. Especially after I got 10% off through my work discount plus the apple music credit.

I really like most things about the AirPods. But the current generation EarPods simply do NOT stay in my ears! Maybe it's the wires pulling on them, but even when I hold the wires to reduce the "pull", they are not firmly seated in my ears. So I bought BeatsX today instead of the AirPods, and so far I'm really, really happy with them! They come with several choices of eartips and stay in my ears just fine. And the isolation is pretty good too.

How long does in-store pick up take to confirm it's ready? Website says usually within an hour, but it's been two now.
I see the store I reserved in now says available on the 14th, despite mine saying today. Don't want to be waiting for an email all day. :)

I ordered on Friday ~2 AM and didn't get the in-store confirmation email until ~noon.

Compared to previous Bluetooth methods of pairing...this new method is AWESOME.

I am really liking them, only thing is I am used to having the controls on the right and these I have them on the left xD

I've noticed a few of the reviews on youtube are wearing the control on the right side, then they complain about the sound.

I have been using these for a few hours now and I'm over the moon with them! Comparable with my RHA 750's in sound, so for the extra convenience of wireless/W1 the price is spot on.

Curious, are the eartips for the RHA750s compatible with BeatsX? I ask, because RHA has a much wider selection of eartips!

Got mine. Haven't even turned them on but i like the form factor very much. The packaging is Apple-sh, and the general feel is very good, as is the seal in the ear.

Probably keepers, if the sound is decent (i'm not terribly picky). But there could be any number of hidden negatives.

(ok, so it's pointless post....i'm excited, WTF :D )

I believe they are yes, at least the comply foam tips I had on my 750's fitted fine on these.

I have preordered mine, 7-10 days for the grey.

When you turn them on, do they connect automatically with your iPhone, or do you need to still select them?

It's just like the AirPods. When you turn them on for the first time next to your iPhone a notification pops up asking you to connect.

Oh, I'm not complaining about that. It is better than before. I just misinterpreted the auto-switching feature (which turned out to be auto-pairing.) With my Plantronics Backbeat GO 2, I needed to go to the Bluetooth settings to switch from iPhone to iPad. With the BeatsX, I can now switch using the Control Center. It's a little more convenient at least.

Did anyone's Apple.com order's status just change to "Coming this fall"?

I just got an email that said:
" We appreciate your recent purchase from the Apple Store. Following is
an update regarding the status of your order W-----------.

Due to an unexpected delay, we now anticipate shipping the following
item(s) as follows:

MLYE2LL/A, BEATSX, BLACK-USA
Ships by Coming this Fall

We regret any inconvenience this delay may cause."

That's a hell of a delay?!

Can someone confirm that Comply Foam 400 tips are the ones to order for the BeatsX?

Thanks.

Just in case anyone needs this info. I lost one of the ear tips already. I contacted Apple for a replacement set. It's $9. Even though it was totally my fault, they waived the fee.

Thanks. That is for the first time as it has the W1 chip. What about other times? For example, when I turn my Beats Solo3s on, they automatically connect to my iPhone and I don't need to select them from bluetooth settings. Is this the same for the Beats X?

It will auto connect to whatever device it was last connected to. To switch devices you have to do it manually.
