Received mine yesterday (free 2day shipping) and am pretty happy. 30sec thoughts.
  • The winglets are a pain to remove...well in my case one was and one was overly easy
  • Tips: I went with the 2nd set, very comfortable.
  • Wire length: for me seems pretty good and comfortable.
  • Sound: Pretty flat, not heavy on the bass at all, quite pleased. I recently received a pair of the Sony MDRXB70BT for free and honestly, the amount of bass these produce is rather annoying, very unbalanced and heavy.
  • Case: kinda tricky to fit everything in nicely, but not bad

You can ge a bit more base by using the equalizer but largely these are base free headphones. You can that the magnetic clasp for that lost feature. Right wire does stick out as it does not have the weight of a controller to weigh it down. On the fence, for the price are these the best overall?

Received an email from Comply customer service. They said the BeatsX will best fit these tips:

Seems silly they dont offer a 3 set, one in each size. How the hell do I know what fits.

I've never used their tips so I'm hoping the medium size fits.

Trying to decide between he jaybird X3's and the beats X....Not sure how I feel about the long cable on the beats X. being a smaller guy, what do you guys feel about it? Don't want the extra cord hitting my face or anything while waling around the campus and working..

I think all of this long cable talk is rubbish. I walked all over campus with these in ear for the last couple days and I'm extremely satisfied. I have a pair of Powerbeats 2 but the cord gets awkward when you turn your head, plus the get caught on you collar. My solution to this was to just wear the cable under my chin, now that was awkward.

The sound isolation is wicked good. The only gripes I have are that they don't go to sleep when they snap together (magnetically), but honestly the battery is so good I just left the power on all day and still have plenty of battery life left. The other issue I have is that the power button needs more of a delay before it goes into pairing mode.

I appreciate it.
I just have no way of viewing them in person before I buy them since I have no Apple Store nearby.
Think I may order the gray pair and wait it out.

Last year youtube was full of submersion and washing machine videos for the Airpods (spoiler: they survive just fine to the occasional dive).

What about the BeatsX?
How water resistant are they?
Are the internals submerged in one gallon of glue like on the Airpods?

so I just browsing around the mall and walked into apple store and they have blue beats x in stock.. will try these on and see if it is worth the $149 price tag

Well, they're earbuds. I don't think there's all that much difference between these and the bluebuds they're replacing. Sound quality is more than adequate for my pump-up gym playlist. The biggest difference to me will be ditching the micro USB charger, which is nice. The 5 min charge will definitely get some use from me too.

I look forward to lightning and w1's (and hopefully an auto-pause) spread throughout the beats lineup. These are a good start though.

The fit and seal is MONUMENTAL for immersive sound, excellent isolation and good bass extension with these. If you are not getting that then they are not fitting right in your ears.

Try fiddling with them, worked wonders for me. If it does not help then so be it, everyone's ears are different.

I agree. Experimenting with the different size tips helped me. I found the largest ones to totally seal in my ear. Worlds of difference.

From the recently released earphones, I have tried the Bragi Headphone, the Airpods, and the BeatsX (all close to the earliest release date). I have since returned the Airpods, and settled on using the BeatsX when out and about, and the Bragis for exercise.

- The BeatsX are great everyday earphones that you can use when you need to block out noise, e.g. on an airplane or in a noisy office environment. Very comfortable, good battery life, quick recharge, reasonable sound quality. I simply hang them around my neck under the shirt when I leave the house and barely notice them until I need them.

- The Bragis are great for exercise, since they are completely cable-free while still having noise isolation (which is a must for me, since I usually spend at least 30 minutes on the noisy rowing machine). They also sit very securely in my ears. Not so great for everyday carrying though, since the case is a little too fat to comfortably fit into pants pockets.

- I did like aspects of the Airpods a lot, particularly how light they feel, how you can easily take calls by just putting one earbud in your ear, and the small and practical charging case. The open design is good for making phone calls. But the lack of noise isolation (and no good way to adjust the volume) made them less than ideal for the scenarios where I use earphones the most. But I'm thinking about getting another pair for phone calls and listening to audiobooks around the house.

Still waiting for the ideal earphones that do everything well. ;)

I wound up purchasing the 400's based on comments I read here before Comply updated their site (DOH!) I received them on Saturday and they are a perfect fit... so I'm curious what the true differences are between the 400 and 500s.

Did you go with the mediums? I'm on the fence on ordering worrying of the correct size. I'm having a hard time getting any of the BeatsX tips to work with my right ear.

I did get the mediums since this is the first time I've used Comply tips. My ears are a bit weird and I think I would do well with Small in my left ear and Medium in my right. I really wish they had a sizing pack for a nominal charge.

I would suggest getting the Medium Variety pack so you can try the different types of tips.

debating going to pickup them up from my closet apple store today. One question i would like an answer first, sry didn't read entire thread and this would be my first BT beats. Is there any way to tell how much power they have left? Obviously no screen for this to be displayed. Is it displayed somewhere on the phone? or am i left to guess?

Thanks !!

Here's one for the 500's

Got mine today, these blow my Jaybird X2's out of the water...only minor thing is for some reason the battery dosn't show up in my status bar. Thought i remembered seeing someone post this before and had a fix.

After using for several days... I ended up using the large buds and the large wings. I was sorta against the wings at first but after trying them I really like how it secures in my ear now.

I am used to the length of cord now and is fine.

The only complaint that I have is turning it on/off is not very reliable. I have the beats Solo 3 and turning on/off is pretty easy (except the little button is hard to find sometimes) but on the Beats X, I find myself pressing the button several times trying to turn on/off. Sometimes there is no sound indicating turning on and other times there is (my Solo 3's sometimes miss playing sound also). A few times I had to take the Beats X off my neck and look at the LED to see what state it is in. They could have had a better on/off button that actually clicked instead of being mushy and play the on/off audio tone more consistently. Curious if others share my opinion on this.

Yes, this isn't great. I find I have to press the button about half a second to reliably turn them on (and then there is another delay until the LED lights up and the sound plays). But if you keep it pressed just a little bit too long, the earphones go into pairing mode. They should extend the time for pairing to 5s or something, and shorten the time for turning them on. Perhaps they could do it via a firmware update?
