Cheers!:)

It'll be the first time I've seen them live.

I've seen them 4 times now i think - everytime a new and great feeling and atmosphere. I even had an interview with Mikael. Very, very nice person. An Opeth Gig is definitely worth it!

Just saw the Mountain Goats the other day, Tilly and the Wall a couple days before that, and Broken Social Scene back on Halloween.

Next week I'm gonna see the Elected, the Toasters, and I think there's a Cursive show coming up, too.

Oooh! I've only heard one album by the Mountain Goats but definitely interested. Wow. Wish I could see them live... and BSS was so good as opening act for Bloc Party at the Greek.

They were f**king fantastic!!!

More prog rock than on CD and very funny!

I want to see them again!!!

The Decemberists - soooo good live. colin has great stage presence and they sound so good. colin also loves crowd interaction. at one point the middle was having a dance contest, the left side was doing an african dance and the right side was moshing. then he takes someones cell phone who was holding it up during a song and calls someone. he stands there with the phone until they answer and then breaks out into the chorus on the phone. finally at the end the band comes down into the crowd and helps us reenact the battle of Gallipoli with Colin narrating. then after the show i waited an hour after and met colin, nate, and jenny but only nate and jenny stayed for pics and autographs.

I'll be honest, I've never heard of them (but they have been mentioned lot's in the best albums of 2006 threads), but it's sounds (reads?) like it was a good gig. :)

Just heard the Sinfonia Atlantique. They were good, but pitifully small audience here in the potato patch.

I saw Ladytron in San Francisco a few weeks ago, and will see them again in San Francisco this Saturday. Fantastic show. They played an unreleased track, a cover of Shocking Blue's "Send me a Postcard" -- very fun.

Yes! Brilliant show.

Ladytron included the original version of "Send me a Postcard" on that Softcore Jukebox mix CD they did a couple of years ago. One of the better mixes you'l find out there. Get your Lee Hazlewood, My Bloody Valentine, and Wire fixes in one sitting.

Best show I've seen recently, though, was The Knife at the Mezzanine a week and a half ago. Kind of a short set (must get hot under those masks!), but brilliantly executed video and light shows along with the predictably great music.

Glitter popsicle

Saw the Starlight Mints the other week ... my first show and it was great! Very fun band. They also had an excellent opener that had the voice of Johnny Cash. :) They had a projector and and some cool popsicle lights.
_

A burlesque show coming up next week (not sure what musical accompaniment ... live/recorded) and Swollen Members in December. I'd also love to catch the Boobies for Boobies event in Seattle and the Prefuse 73 show, but we'll see what happens. Oh yeah, that Telefon Tel Aviv holiday bash would be frackin' awesome to see as well. Those guys are amazing! :D

Anyone want to fund my concert tab? :p

Saw Barenaked Ladies last night here in SF...good show. Not the best one I've seen of theirs, but still a good time.

Mike Doughty's Band opened...wasn't too impressed. They had some very nice grooves going, but Mike's voice grates on me and he repeats the same lines over and over and over again.

The Ladies rock in concert. I'd love to see them when their tour comes close in the new year.

Absolutely...I've lost track of the number of times I've seen them. They've lost a bit of the craziness and spontaneity over the years as they've gotten a larger catalog of songs and become more mainstream, but they're still one of the best tickets out there. I didn't feel that the banter was quite up to its usual standards this time around, but everybody's entitled to an off night now and then. :)

I was at that show, too! It was my first time seeing a full concert of theirs, and I quite enjoyed it.

(I saw 'full concert' because I had tickets to their Peepshow stop in Berkeley, but ended up with food poisoning from dinner before the show. I only got to see about two songs. )

Totally agreed on that count. And the mix was waaaay off for his set, at least from my seat (first row of the balcony, a little off to the right), which didn't help at all.

My next show is seeing Paul Kelly at the Opera House in Sydney. He's doing his whole catalogue over the course of four nights. I can't wait!
