Bonnaroo was incredible.. The Flaming Lips set was the best concert I've ever been to.

On the 30th I'm going to see Bela Fleck and the Flecktones in Carnegie Hall :]

Damn you! I'm slightly bitter about my concert-going experiences this summer. I was planning on going to Austin City Limits in September but the 3-day passes sold out, and one day passes don't offer exit and re-entry, so essentially I'm screwed.

I'm going to see Ben Folds/John Mayer tomorrow, though, so that'll be sweet :D

Saw Regina Spektor in Purchase, NY (where she went to school) a month or so ago. Also saw Brandie Carlile at the Bowery Ballroom in NY a few weeks ago- and let me say, that woman knows how to rock.

I saw Arctic Monkeys last night at the CIA in Cardiff. Whilst they were perfectly fine, I was bored after twenty minutes. Maybe I'm getting old.

The support act were Reverend and the Makers, who were a bit, er, crap one-dimensional.

:(

I last saw them about a year ago, and Reverend and the Makers supported then, too. They really are earache-inducing :p

Off to see The Who at Knowsley Hall this Saturday, then Arctics again in July.

Saw John Mayer and Ben Folds Tonight!

I know you can't tell it's John Mayer... I had a Point-and-Shoot camera with only 3x optical zoom, and I had lawn tickets = really far away, poorly shot pics.

But the show was amazing. It sucked for Ben because everyone was there for John, so the usual crowd participation was lacking. BUt John was amazing, the band was tight, and he played some blues... thats fa sho. Twas a good night, I'd say.

Saw Tool last, and holy crap, what a show. I really like Tool's music, and this was the first time I'd seen them live, but I feel pretty confident saying that even if you aren't a huge Tool fan, that you'd like the show.

Maynard is a freaking rock star (in ever sense of the word), the visuals were wild, and the overall feel in the arena was fantastic. All in all, a great show....of course, the really good seats didn't hurt either.

 ... :(

Saw Discoma and ASP last night. Jake and Amee are ****ing fantastic. :) ASP also played at Esthetic Evolution last night.

The Video Hippos and Sage Francis, Buck 65, Alias, and Buddy Wakefield next week.

Oops, forgot I saw the Umbrellas play the other night ... for like 8 people. They were quick good. :) Apparently they were featured on Greys Anatomy; I don't watch TV.

A week ago I saw Kamelot (Florida) live in our city. That was absolutely great. The guys play some symphonic progressive power metal. Their stage performance is marvelous and their singer is an absolute talent - you should see how he acts when singing!:)

I saw John in April. I loved it, and love John! But, the Montreal crowd kinda sucked. Even when John was playing.

I saw The Mississippi All stars and Bela Fleck and the Flecktons last night at the Jazz Festival.
Up next: Tool, on July 10th.

Not really a concert but was at Festa Folklorico de Parintins (hope that's how you write it) in Amazonas, Brazil last week. Pretty spectacular show (though I think last year was better), 2 each night for 3 nights, lots of drinking, dancing, falling down. For those who want to know, Caprichoso won!

Haven't been to one in a while, but back in May I saw Marc Ford (former lead guitarist for the Black Crowes) play at the Belly Up Tavern. He was AWESOME. I have his new album and it's incredible.

"Currents" is probably my favorite track.

Last week Sage Francis, Buck 65, Alias, and Buddy Wakefield we're amazing. Buck 65 was not at all what I had imagined. Alias was dropping fat rhymes on some tastily dug beats. Buddy Wakfield signed my CD! :D … of course Sage was dope.

Justin Sayne on the forth ... reunion band; still rockin' it like it's 198_!

Last night Pat Benolkin dropped glitchy ambient (this kid knows his stuff) and Evol G and Hecca smoked the crowd with their dub/grind steppin'.

Tonight: Pat opens up for ... Battles. w00t!

I need to sleep one of these days. :p

:( I missed Air when they were in the US. Summercase looked to be a wicked lineup. Would have been nice to see just about everyone in that festival!

Just saw a hip-hop show that rolled through town: SLEEP (CHICHARONES , OLDOMINION) + SUNSPOT JONZ (LIVING LEGENDS) + JON THE BAPTIST (SUPER BARRIO BROS.) + REHAB HYMN & DJ EGADZ (MONOTONOUS RECORDS) + INPUT (MONOTONOUS RECORDS). Surprisingly good as I had never heard of most of these people. :)

Mike Balance and friends + Evol G. and Hecca play a intimate show this week ... gotta support the local kids.

Silverchair.

Last night (8/3) at the St. Andrews Hall in Detroit, MI.

Fantastic show, especially considering I don't really listen to Silverchair. They are much better live, IMO, than on a track.

I spent last weekend at the Calgary Folk Music Festival hearing the likes of Final Fantasy, City and Colour, Rufus Wainwright, Hawksley Workman, Neko Case, New Orleans Social Club, Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, Great Big Sea, Sarah Slean and Don McLean to name just a few. Earlier this year I saw Feist and the White Stripes as well, and Elton John in the fall.

Looking forward to Matthew Good in September!
