Exactly. My entire family and circle of friends use iPhones, except for one friend. I hate Apple dictating what I can and can't install on my phone (I pay the $99 developer fee so that I can easily sideload, done doing this). My choice of product (phone) should be based on what I want and not based on what everyone else uses / what is convenient for others. I paid for Beeper in the early days because I was really excited about what they were trying to do and have free access to Mini which is awesome. Who knows how long this will last, it is too good to be true, in my opinion.

It isn't about "just get an iPhone" as everyone says. I've had every iPhone since the 4 and have the 15PM. Android is just more enjoyable for me and I can use my phone however I damn well please. Rocking true iMessage from my phone number on my Pixel 8 Pro is unreal to me.
And you can choose to android lmao. Apple is not forcing you to use it.

I’d be using a windows phone if they were still made but they aren’t so I’m loving my iPhone because android is a hot mess and unrefined Os.

What cracks me up is the fact you guys make apple out to
Be some be all
End all controller lmao.

The fact that google has yet to have anything remotely successful or similar to iMessage and they are this desperate is sad and it’s even more annoying grown adults complaining about it daily.

wild people think this is just about the color and not bringing iPhones into the 21st century of texting capabilities

iPhones literally cannot send a high def video over text to an android phone lol
iPhones have been in the 21st century lmao. Considering how google wants iMessage capabilities.

If anything blame google for not being able to actually create anything similar lol.

I didn’t realize it until a few weeks ago but almost none of my friends use android lol and those who don’t I talk to on Snapchat or messenger. So it really is irrelevant.

Yes this is about a color and it’s kind of sad lmao

you basically have iMessage capabilities by just texting each other on android lol.

iPhones literally cannot text non iPhones featured messages and it's entirely apples decision

Very interesting. It still has an advantage over Apple accepting RCS since I highly doubt every feature will work over RCS, Apple needs to keep some (if not most) features behind its paywall. With Beeper Mini you get pretty much all of iMessage's features. Although I think anyone who cares about having a blue bubble is either 1) a weak-minded moron or 2) a middle school student, the other stuff will be nice to have. Of course this is all predicated on Apple not shutting them down.

Lawsuits incoming
Not even necessary, Apple patches code so that only Apple devices can authenticate and register, and it stops working. Cheaper than lawyers.

Apple will probably let this grow first, if they are smart, so all the “Green bubble” friends turn blue, then go back to green, and they get ridiculed even more, like “what happened man, it was so nice for a there for a while, remember when we used to let you in our group messages, and you got to hang out with us again, get an iPhone, and be our friend again, so we can invite you again”. Haha joking obviously.

I actually( and most of my iphone friends) just realized I barely use iphone reactions lmao. I only really started using them when i saw all the articles of Android users whining abiut not being able to have blue messages the last few weeks. I just discovered there is an imessage store.

I have been texting the few android users i know (my mom for example) with no problem lol.

I wish Apple would release safari for Windows 11. But i also understand why and I am not upset that Apple stop supporting Apple. I have to use Edge which is fine.

I don't feel entitled to a feature simply because i think the company should do it because it wants to cater to a small minority of people.
This really is not an apple issue. It's an Android envy thing. And it is not even a major issue. Simply being overexaggerated

Exactly what snapchat used to do with windows phone lol.

There was a workaround so that we could use snapchat and it worked well until they (Snap) blocked it and then our accounts got banned lmao.

It's the apple users who make a big deal out of bubble colors not android users lmaoo sit down
that makes no sense. Why would we make a big deal about a color if they are always blue lmfao.
Make it make sense.
Google literally made a whole promotion about romeo and juliet lmfao. But it's definitely apple users complaining /s
Why would we complain about something we normally can do?

I even asked some of my coworkers and friends and most people have said what I have been saying. People aren't texting as much.

Guys have my phone number and they still message me through snap, messenger, IG.
I even had to make my snapchat because i got tired of guys asking me lol.

This is not the same as say when Snapchat refused to make a windows phone app thus literally preventing WP users from being able to contact their friends on android and IOS. That in itself was rough because we literally had no access to talk to our friends.

Apple isn't going to release iMessage for Android. Any potential thought or talk of this is a fantasy. You want the iPhone experience with iMessage? Buy an iPhone. I don't expect Beeper Mini to last long.

Android is a mess of a platform that apart from Samsung devices, is like the dumpster land of mobile devices. Yes you have variety, and it's "open", but what good is that to the consumer if the majority of android devices are trash, lack proper support for software, and don't offer a good experience to the user?

Yes, there are Google Pixel devices with Android. But let's be honest, there is no marketshare or mindshare there apart from the small group of tech reviewers and YouTubers.

I live in one of the most progressive tech cities in the US, and I rarely, if ever, have seen a Google Pixel device more than a handful of times. How many iterations of Google Pixel have we had so far? 7? 8?That's a lot of years and iterations without much market penetration. Samsung, from time to time I see (not as much as I used to during the mid 2010s and up until 2020) --- Apple devices, everywhere and nonstop. It's prolific.

As an anecdote, my local Verizon store staff, which I have a good relationship with as we have several lines with them for business admits that usually 8 to 9 out of 10 device sales are iPhones and the remaining are Samsung.

The marketplace doesn't lie.

And how exactly can apple tell which is a real apple device and which is fake? They can't, unless they rewrite the entire way iMessage operates. They could do that, but then that would also render all of the older I-devices, the ones that no longer receive updates, unable to send iMessages. Do they really want to do that? We'll see I guess.

Of course Apple isn't forcing anyone to use Android, not even sure what you mean by this. Android isn't a hot mess unless you're using a cheap 5 year old phone that never receives updates. When is the last time you actually used an Android phone?

Not saying Apple is end all be all controller, again not sure what you're getting at. And this has nothing to do with Google being desperate, this isn't a Google made app.

Google is the one who has implemented end to end encrypted RCS messaging, all of the carriers and manufacturers have joined. Apple is the outlier and by using SMS between iPhones and Android they are hurting their own users by not utilizing encrypted messaging. Even worse, when Apple does finally adopt RCS, it won't be E2E encrypted.

I have a galaxy s22 ultra that i used as a daily dIiver for months until i switched back to android. I also have to be forced to deal with my mother's pixel.

it is every bit about google being desperate. I guess i am what you consider a millenial being that i am 28 and within my demographic, nobody is complaining about the color of texts except android users. IOS users really dont care. Because we had no reason to care lol. we have had Imessage for over a decade and google has tried and failed miserably to make anything remotely close.

Honestly, i kind of hope this rcs implementation next year is half-baked just to give android users something else to whine about.

iMessage envy is a thing for real? I was just thinking google was whining because google.

I mean maybe if they didn't start and kill 3459 different messaging products they could replicate it.
Google had the chance to capture all communication, with Google Voice.

They blew it. They blew it COMPLETELY. One of the greatest business screw-ups of our time… of ALL time.

ETA: in fact, Google's messaging shenanigans are what converted me from the greatest Google fan, into just being disgusted with them. Now I'm disgusted with Apple too, but there's nowhere to go.

There's so much dilusion when it comes to Android hate. It's nothing like it was a decade or even 5 years ago when android went from really sucked to kind of sucked. It's actually pretty good now, and some of the devices have hardware that I think is more aesthetically pleasing than iPhone.

And the denial that it's Googles fault for not coming up with competition for android when they basically have with RCS, and Apple has completely isolated iphone users from it, is really something else.

I don't think half of Americans having android phones is a small minority of people that iPhones have to text. it's weird you don't feel entitled to...ordinary updated technology but you feel quite comfortable hrufmping and saying leave it alone forever

iOS users don't complain about color of texts? Are you serious? Have you not heard of all of the bullying of kids for being a green bubble? Have you not heard of all of the kids being left out of groups due to being green bubbles? You really think the idiotic people who choose to not date green bubble phone owners are Android users? ALL of the above are iPhone users. All of them. I would say iOS users care far too much.

I like the fact that I can use my Pixel and have all the convenience of iMessage when it comes to photo and video sharing. Nothing to do with text color.

Again that ia a tad melodramatic and overexaggerated. When Android first came out, i would have been roughly 13-14 years old.

the iPhone was seen as the premium device and i do know then kids did get teased a bit since Android was seen as cheap (It is). THis is also back when sidekicks were still fairly popular and even blackberries. I wasn't into Android or IOS yet (I think at the time I made my parents by me a palm Pre lol).

But y'all keep making statements like "Kids are being bullied"....it wasn't that deep.

When the Moto Droid (which i got on Release date back in 2009) came out it was literally called an iPhone killer and the commercials for DROID DOES is literally what gave Android a name and it was seen as something cool.

You have to also remember iPHONE was only (In America) on one carrier so most people literally had Android at the time since it was available everywhere. Then came the galaxy (I had 3 of the 4 us variants). Then came 3d phones like the Evo 3D. So no, kids aren't being bullied lmao.

The only people complaining about colors are actual adults today.

Half of Amercans have androids because they are cheap. The people "affected" by those SMS issues are a minority.
Android camera quality (aside from some Pixels and galaxies) has always been terrible lmfao. It's why i can always tell when someone has an android lmao.

Snapchat for example is a prime example. I refuse to let my friend's take pictures of me on their phone with snapchat because it is low quality compared to iphone. Why? Idk.

So any low quality videos i receive from Android, I blame on Android and not apple because all my videos i get from IOS users comes through just fine.

Again, I am not enttled to anything as Imessage works just fine.

There are dozens of messaging apps I can use to have conversations with Android.

not all androids are cheap. I text family members with the most expensive android phones and it's ME who cannot send them videos of my dog. You are fundamentally misunderstanding the issue and seem to be aggressively reactionary.

This will be my last reply to you, we just agree to disagree. Kids and teens are absolutely being bullied and excluded due to not having iPhones / blue bubbles. In North America. And there are adults out there who judge people / prospects based on iMessage and will not meet / date people who aren't blue bubbles. Don't know what else to say on the matter.
That seems like an Android issue(not the iphone) if the video is able to be recieved on other platforms. I never had difficulty sending to windows phone from an iPhone via SMS.
It is not an Android issue. SMS is standardized across the board; an SMS sent from iPhone to Android is the same as SMS sent from iPhone to Windows. Device doesn't matter, compression / size limits are imposed in the same way.

Have a nice night. 👍

Not all android are cheap but the billion activated devices are in fact cheap and out of date devices.

I have never had any issues sending videos via SMS but usually getting videos from android is terrible and I blame Android.

People date people for superficial reasons. What's new about that? Kids are not being bullied because nowadays kids really do not care what phone you have as long as you can use snapchat or tik tok.

As i have been saying, this sounds like some sort of ego booster for android users and it is kind of sad...that a color of a text makes you feel left out but i digress.
have a nice one as well

And how exactly can apple tell which is a real apple device and which is fake? They can't, unless they rewrite the entire way iMessage operates. They could do that, but then that would also render all of the older I-devices, the ones that no longer receive updates, unable to send iMessages. Do they really want to do that? We'll see I guess.
They already know.

The way iMessage activation currently works is by checking a couple of factors, including device serial and UDID, association with Apple IDs, history of the device, and the Apple IDs history.

They then attribute a risk score and decide based on that score.

Fake serials and UDIDs have been used in Hackintosh to activate iMessage for years, and not without risk. Apple IDs and serials have been banned in the past. Customer service can't unban it and will tell you in a very kind and pleasant way to pound sand.

Currently, Apple’s score threshold is set at such a level that even a known fake serial and UDID is allowed if the Apple ID has a decent amount of history and is in good standing.

The serials and UDIDs used by Beeper and most Hackintosh users are fake but follow the format of legitimate ones.

It is exceptionally trivial for Apple to adjust the threshold score and keep out 90%+ of the people spoofing serials and UDIDs (and Beeper users).

They could even go as far as adjust it so that reused serials and UDIDs of legitimate devices are soft-banned and need to contact support with the physical device at hand to run a diagnostic to verify if the device is actually in the customer's possession.

This would affect less than 1% of customers, a hassle they could decide is worth it. However, services like Beeper will never spoof with legitimate devices because they would open them up to legal liabilities.

They could also require authentication blobs to be attested by the device, which is a bit more work and would require an update, but it would entirely nip this in the bud and is not unprecedented.

They did a similar thing with the FaceTime protocol, causing older devices on old iOS versions to be unable to FaceTime with devices on newer versions.

More poignantly, however, is that the teenager's repository contains proprietary Apple code (the kid wasn't in the mood to reverse engineer everything, I guess), which opens Beeper up to significant legal liabilities.

It's effortless to nip this in the bud and detect which device is authentic and which isn't.
