you dont have to use messages.

you can just as easy use any other message app and share photos and such to them with ease.

I can't pick a different SMS app on the iPhone. Apple doesn't allow for it.

Will Apple allow you to pick a different RCS app, using your carrier number, once they implement RCS next year? Doubtful.

I am tired of seeing these articles, and I have no problem with what Beeper is doing.

I’m glad Apple is getting some heat from the media and politicians even though they don’t know what they’re talking about in this regard.

The only way this stupid debacle ends is with Apple bringing iMessage to Android and Windows. That is the only way people will shut up about this.

I’m hoping RCS somewhat proves me wrong, but we’ll see.

I'm waiting for the final version of this which Apple will not be able to block. It'll involve you buying an iPhone, copying and pasting your message from the Messages app into a Beeper Mini proxy app on the iPhone. This will then appear on your Android Beeper Mini app. To send a message you'll then just reverse this process, typing it out on Android and then copying and pasting from the Beeper Mini proxy into Messages to send it.

It'll be flawless and perfectly solve this problem once and for all...

Brilliant!! and to make things even easier Beeper will sell you a 2 sided case so you can have both phones attached together at all times.

Whilst Beeper is making life even more difficult for Android users, I do think many people in here are missing the point about an iphone having to be used. Let's be clear about something, the article states an OLD iphone can be used, one that can be jailbroken. This therefore implies that as long as the iphone is able to power on and has working wifi, the old iphone can be in any state of disrepair, as long as it powers on, has working wifi and can be jailbroken because all that is needed if the iphones registration data. Technically the old iphone would not even need to have a battery just as long as it can power on via the charging cable attached to it. I have no doubt their are thousands upon thousands of old faulty iphones that cost less than $10 that could be used for such a purpose.

Doing it the way Beeper is suggesting, whilst awkward and cumbersome, is still way cheaper than having to buy a normal fully working iphone.

RSC+Google=Ad$

LOL why does this not surprise me for android.

I mean seperate SMS apps have never been a thing on Apple. And it makes sense. Apple builds the iphone around its entire ecosystem. Remember, Unfiormity is an Apple thing so they want everything to seamlessly work together.

Imagine having multiple SMS apps on Apple but people are unsure why they cant use stuff like Apple pay(remember Apple pay is not open) on it.

Apple is not android and i really wish people would stop trying to make it like so.

At some point, give it up. It’s getting much more difficult as the market share of jailbroken phones dwindles. This isn’t 2012.

I've been using iPhone since 2008. It's a different world, and it's time for iPhone to be more open. More ways to change defaults, more ways to do things. Apple allows a different browser, a different mail, a different maps app. Time for different messaging. Keep the defaults, but allow the end-user to do as they wish.

I'm ready for iOS to me more analogous to macOS, with regards to openness and customization.

Simple example..Let me remove the camera and flashlight icons on the lock screen.

Somehow, everyone on both sides of the equation is still managing to miss the point entirely.

For the iphone Apple has been trending in this direction for the last few years. It might not meet everyone's timeline, but yeah, Ios has more customization options than in the past.

Using a single "webkit" has it's advantages. Vulnerabilities addresses once. You can use any mail app you want, like Outlook 365. And I've downloaded google maps and waze.

That level of customization will probably never be a part of IOS.

Don't know the rational of why they can't be removed, but Apple seems to change things either by popular demand or by law.

It's 👏 not 👏 just 👏 about 👏 the 👏 blue 👏 bubbles.

I don't understand why this stupid narrative keeps repeating.
Because it's actually about the blue bubbles, despite what you may think. Hop over to the beeper website and see how many times this silliness is mentioned.

Who is this desperate for iMessage? The 2 or 3 Android users I know are perfectly content using Whatsapp.

It really isn't worth it anymore. Unless they can find some way to bypass Apple's message restrictions so that you don't need any apple devices, this app has run it's course :/

Either they stop operating or by update 17 they'll need you to get two apples watches.

Jesus this is ridiculous. The blue bubble thing was a meme but people got so butthurt they made apps like this. Unreal. Android folks spend so much time thinking about Apple but I never think about Android.
Well, it’s really not ALL about blue bubbles. Texting between iOS and Android (without third party software) requires the use of SMS/MMS which is not encrypted, full of security holes, and a product of the telecom companies when cellphone texting came to be. Right now, the only way for iOS and Android to communicate securely and encrypted is for both to use a third party app. Apple has announced it will support RCS sometime in 2024 which will totally eliminate the need for a kludge like Beeper to exist.

The Bozo clowns at Beeper are beating a dead horse and they know it. This is all about poking Apple in the eye to get attention. They’re gnats circling Apple’s arse and Apple is swatting them with its tail.

It's not for the people arguing for Beeper on this forum. Beeper's marketing isn't in question here, it's in how Apple is responding and how they are choosing to handle iMessage.

I'm just ready for encrypted RCS on the iPhone so none of this is interesting anymore.

This is becoming pretty damn comical. It's also incredibly nonsensical to me.
Yeah, it feels pretty nonsensical to me. (Also, did I read somewhere on the internet that Beeper might be planning to sue Apple about blocking them? Thought I read this but now can't find it.)

Effectively they are hacking into a private system which they say is actually "public". And it's not like iPhones cannot message Android. It's just not using Apple's system (whatever you call it). I mean, hacking is one thing. Making profit out of it AND making noise about it seems pretty silly.

If anyone wants a laugh go to the Beeper reddit and actually read the posts.
There is a thread on the subreddit actually enttiled Expletitive Apple and in said thread, they are literally upset that Apple is making it difficult for them to use iMessage. Also it seems that users are actually going out and BUYING MACs and some of their own fanbase is turning on them. All this in a month's time, folks.

Like seriously, if I had a bad day just read the beeper sub. It's quite disturbing actually at the same time.

It's just not a good look.

There is no point to be missed. We are getting RCS so at this point this is pure desperation for a feature they feel entitled to.

I dont mind customization but i dont want Android level of changing things and breaking things down

That's why all this even more funny.

Android users: It is not about blue bubbles at all.

Beeper: EVERYONE CAN USE BLUE BUBBLES NOW!
(it's literally their marketing lmao)

Apparently the same people who paid 3 dollars for an app that was shut down in 2 days, the same people who then went to go find a friend with a mac to register, the same people who apparently are now going to buy a used iPhone to jailbreak...and from what i read, a bunch of people are even buying old Mac minis just to get iMessage.

Beeper fans, i aspire to find me a man who loves and is devoted to me as you guys are to this product. Because that is some kind of devotion lol

OMG if this is true, i may actually die from laughing.
Can you imagine the judge.

You reversed engineered their platform and then charged users $3

Next article: Beeper Mini conducts an elaborate Mission Impossible heist inside the Apple campus in order to get blue bubbles on Android phones. :p

I could schedule a text message to be sent later from an Android phone in 2017. What the hell, Apple. They did for Mail, but not Messages.
It would be really nice to be able to schedule text messages. Often, I want to share something with my spouse, but I know he is doing something and doesn't want to be disturbed so I want the message to go out later....
