Mine cracked, but they replaced with very little hassle. Just had to submit a photo of the broken protector.

Agreed, its absolutely comical that people think these things actually do anything.

I got one because on previous iPhones I would always get hairline scratches which was annoying to look at. With this I don’t have to worry about it because if I get one, I can throw out this screen protector and buy a new one. For me it’s worth it, not having to worry about being stuck with hairline scratches on my screen.

So far I haven’t gotten any hairline scratches on the screen protector, and I always wipe my phone on my shirt or pants to clean finger prints off the screen. I have been tempted to remove the screen protector since Apple said it’s the most durable screen they’ve ever had in an iPhone. It makes me wonder if it’s the most durable in terms of resisting scratches.

I'm surprised this article gets a main spot. Probably to help distract from the other current Apple stories?

Buy the cheap-ola protectors on Amazon. Plenty of great options for $10 and less (and Prime eligible). They come out of the same factories as the "name brand" one, and no worse. Same material. It baffles me that people pay $20, $30 or more for these.

Same could be said about additional accessories like wireless chargers, cell phone cases, and regular chargers. The Apple Quick Charger (29w) costs $50 from them by itself. I managed to get mine for $8 through Amazon since I had a gift card.

$ 6-7 gets you a set of 10 tempered glass screen protectors from aliexpress. I always order them in bulk. Even though they take 20 days to arrive, they are worth it.

The Belkin invisglass protector I got for my Apple watch3 was equally as poor and broke after only 3 days also it made the touch screen very unresponsive

And Belkins customer service support also is apathetic from when I have contacted them. Sometimes thats not a good reflection of the Product either.

I don't understand the need for these protectors. I've never been gentle with my iPhones, and have never seen so much as a hairline scratch on the screen. The iPhone 6S that I replaced with a X looks brand new.
Get a brand new phone and hold it next to yours.......

lol, at least they halted sales to investigate, that is what an ethical company does
Yes and what an ethical company further does is replace for free the product that their customers had faith in and turned out to be a POS like mine

I tried one of these hard glass protectors on my iPhone 7 and it basically cracked within a day. No drops, just normal use.

Never again.

Belkin used to make great accessories, they've really gone downhill. I always look for a different brand now.

No, chargers are very different. Cheaper ones don't have the same voltage regulation as Apple OEM ones.

I wouldn't trust a third-party charger unless I saw the internals first.

I got an Anker charger that 9to5Mac tested/recommended. It is quite similar, despite voltage, because people can go "brand name" or generic. Amazon sells MFi certified cables online and some people would rather spend the $ on the Apple version even though an Amazon Essentials version is very similar.

I find your comment interesting, az431, because I do not believe that I am rough on my tech devices and yet after a month of ownership I always find scratches on the screen protectors. I always make sure that my smartphone is the only thing in my pocket when I carry it. I don't carry it in the same pocket with coins or keys. I'm always mindful of where I set my smartphone. I always my smartphone is a case that usually has slightly raised edges around the screen. Yet the screen protectors, regardless of brand, always end up with scratches.
So the only way you can possibly be scratching your screen protector is by your nails? It looks like the current crop of glass screen protectors for the X are a waste of money. I’m thinking of getting an X in the next week or two given the great availability of them now in the stores.

I was also considering the Otterbox Defender case which I’ve used for several iPhones over the years. They normally came with a built-in plastic screen protector but not on this year’s version for the X. Their reason for eliminating it was a conflict with using the sides of the X screen or something. I guess it would’ve cost them more to develop a truly redesigned defender case for the X so they chose to drop the screen protector instead and offer their own version of a tempered glass screen protector for an additional $40 which by the way has poor customer reviews.

I tried using my iPhone 6S+ without a screen protector and after about a year it developed a couple of small spots on the screen that looked like shinny oil spots, but would not wipe off. Guessing that the coating swore off in those areas.

The phone ended up taking a bath due to me washing a load of winter jackets, without checking the breast pocket of one (doh!) and I put a glass screen protector on the replacement one and the new X.

The spots weren’t a huge deal in most light conditions, but in bright sun they really bothered me. More a nuisance than a problem really, but one I would rather avoid again.

Recently bought 2x Anker Glass Protectors (€7,99 on Amazon) and they're holding up well. Application was easy with the included kit and the protector is a little wider than the Belkin one which means the edges of the screen don't get this "rainbow" effect. Cheaper, better, ... Belkin? Never again.

I haven't used a screen protector since the iPhone 4s, but recently bought the same one for my iPhone 6s. My 6s screen had a lot of microscratches on it so when I had it replaced (after shattering in a drop) I bought the Anker Glass protectors. Completely amazed and wanted to cry that I didn't get these much sooner. Very smooth, thin, and resists fingerprints far better than the phone itself. I have tried some from Belkin in the past, but always took them off after a short time because they were annoying.

Really? I always assumed spigen was better quality
I used to think that but they're actually really thin.
I still have the spigen installed on iPhone 7 and iPhone 8 plus in the house...the iPhone 7's protector is now cracked, without it being dropped. Thin, hairline crack so I kept it on there.
On my iPhone X, I opted for the Omoton off amazon, and when I installed it I actually noticed that it was thicker, it's not insignificant.
