Because you have to plug an adaptor into this adaptor to use the 3.5mm plug.
You should wait until someone releases an adapter that has both a Lightning pass-through and a 3.5mm jack. To assume this is all the solution you're going to get is defeatist. We have a couple of weeks before you're likely to have an iPhone 7 in your hands, though, so feel free to wring them some more.

You are basically repeated it, so you might end up missing another post.

I realize that, but figure I might not have been the only one unaware. It's not necessarily a huge thing for this message, but considering the content of the message I personally found it surprising it struck from the record. Good for anyone using this forum to know.

LOL, liar!

A headphone jack doesn't impede anything at all. Get off the forums if youre going to spread this kind of false bull.
Well, to be fair, according to the hardware devs it sounds like it was impeding the dual lens camera on the 7+. Which, if you're a photography enthusiast who can't carry a DSLR around all the time, is probably a great trade off.

That's not me, so I can't really say one way or the other.

The entire idea of adapters is just so off putting. I think either you buy in to the wireless world apple is creating or you don't. To need a cable, to plug in 2 other cables...just awful.
The adapter is for those that MUST charge AND use a wired headphone. I’ve used my headphone jack maybe 20 times in the last 2.5 years, will get new BT headphones if I need them.

These adaptors are for those who can’t or won’t change, not everyone.

Weird. I read all the complaints about charging while using headphones/earbuds to listen to music. Personally I can't remember one time I've charged my phone while using wired headphones. How does one do that while on the go? Are you using one of those power block things??

Here is an example that happens to me everyday.

I have my iPhone plugged into my cars' head units with lightning, and the earbuds plugged into the headphone jack.

I don't listen to music while driving, but I use siri, make phone calls, pause music quickly for the head units without buttons.

If you don't like it... DON'T BUY IT!!! It's as simple as that... there are a ton of phones out there with 3,5mm jack...

To be fair the mods do a fantastic job Arn must feel blessed - not only with his $40 million + net worth at least.
I joined originally when he first launched but forgot my password. My dad was a consultant anaesthetist - wrote books - always wanted to be a business man when he retired.
Well done Arn well done mods

I'm not 100% sure I understand what you're getting at, but I didn't say anyone is doing a bad job moderating - though with the itchy delete finger (in my opinion) that someone has, I have no way to confirm a good job is being done, either.

I have charged my phone and listened to music via wired headphones before...mainly at work. and then i switched to using the MBP for listening to music. just so the iPhone battery doesn't keep draining.

I think this Belkin adapter looks somewhat large. I was think of a "T" or Hammerhead style adapter with lightning ports out each side. BUT, I guess that could be hard with a case and this is probably for those with cases. i still don' like it though, BUT i have a while to wait for a need for that. I am happy with my iPhone 6.

@belkin

Can I connect MULTIPLE dongles so I can connect
TWO headphones,
Lightning Digital AV Adapter,
Lightning to SD Card Camera Reader,
Lightning to USB Camera Adapter,
Lightning to VGA Adapter, and a
Lightning to Micro USB Adapter so I can use a spare Galaxy S charger all at the same time?

I want to replace my multimedia system.
HA ha thanks not laughed so much for a long time.
cheers

Too much whining. Don't buy IPhone 7 and move on. Hell you have hundreds of option with the archaic headphone jack. People are losing homes and cars with the Note 7 and you all are jumping through about a jack. Damn upside world we live in......

I do charge and use aux all day.

You do realize that it's 2016 now, right? Why not just complain because Apple doesn't give you a free adapter to work on 8-track?

Also, sorry, but if you don't have a car newer than one from 2007, then perhaps spending $650+ on a brand new iPhone 7 shouldn't be your priority right now.

3.5mm is an analog standard that's been around forever and not comparable to the 8 track. Until humans can hear in ones and zeros (digital) there will always be a need for analog solutions to translate them to waves that our brains can interpret. RCA cables are used to transfer these analog signals ubiquitously in the audio industry. The headphone jack is simply a termination of the RCA cable in 2.5, 3.5 or 6.35mm. Apple is taking a big gamble here.

And speak for yourself about vehicles. I drive a 2003 as it regularly gets dinged, bumped, scratched and vandalized. Being from Chicago you can appreciate the joys of street parking.

Great, buy an adapter so we can use an adapter with the adapter ;) (3.5mm to lighting for us with "regular" headphones)
Exactly. Apple, we get it. You're pushing us into wireless.
But this is pretty stupid, eh?

Hey, peace friend and may God's Love be with you ALWAYS.

Oh, I'm calm. Calmly enjoying my Note 7 (I'd be calmer if it wasn't the exploding model, but it'll be swapped soon enough).

Actually, it's because of the jack that I bought the Note 7, but wow, Apple is living in the stone age. The Edge Panels alone are worth leaving Apple's ecosystem. Not to mention the gorgeous screen.

Phil is right, everyone should have the courage to give the note 7 or s7 a test drive. I'll never own another iPhone.

Good for you, so now you just troll Apple sites in your spare time?

Nice. Belkin jumps all over this but are their WeMo products HomeKit compatible yet??? Hello?

Are they coming out with one that has the charging lightning port and a standard jack like other companies?

If you are charging and listening, you're not walking anyway. And if you're using an external battery then this won't make much difference as you already have a hassle as to where to put the battery while you're walking.
Different use cases for different people. I frequently charge and listen while walking, using an external battery in a small runner's pouch on my belt (not much of a hassle at all - I solved that problem early on). I often take long walks at night, after a day of using my phone (thus, frequently starting out with the battery quite low), listening to audiobooks or podcasts, or music, and sometimes playing Ingress (Pokémon Go's predecessor), which eats battery. So, always listening, and frequently charging, and yes, this adapter wouldn't be the end of the world, but it'd be a hassle - currently, I have two light, well-connected, wires hanging from my phone, to charge and listen; with this adapter, I'd have a fiddly bit dangling in between (and putting somewhat more physical strain on the Lightning connection). When I eventually upgrade to an iPhone 7 or 8, I'll probably end up switching to wireless headphones, giving up my Etymotics earphones with custom-molded earpieces (not quite audiophile class, but quite good). Don't assume your use case is everyone else's, or even the most prevalent.

What does the year have to do with anything? I have a 2005 GTO with a double DIN and a brand new Pioneer head unit that runs CarPlay amongst other things. You can go without the 3.5 very easily.

iPhone is becoming the joke that everyone has been accusing it of being for a long time.

Wirelessness is the future!

Here's a wired set of headphones and you'll need a wired dongle in order to charge and listen to your music at the same time.
