How is having a 3.5mm headphone cable and a lightning cable plugged into your iPhone 6S so much more convenient than having a lightning headphone cable and a lightning cable plugged into your adapter, which is plugged into your phone? Sure you're adding an adapter but it's not the end of the world. For me, the only time I need to charge and listen through wired headphones is when I'm on a plane. Maybe people who commute on a train do both at the same time but I really don't see it as an issue.

Getting more space for the camera, battery and making the phone water resistant is worth losing the 3.5mm.

iPhone is becoming the joke that everyone has been accusing it of being for a long time.

Wirelessness is the future!

Here's a wired set of headphones and you'll need a wired dongle in order to charge and listen to your music at the same time.

The 0.1% of people that listen and charge at the same time shouldn't really matter much in the scheme of things. They should matter so little that they deserve such a silly dongle.

Agreed.

Oh, I'm calm. Calmly enjoying my Note 7 (I'd be calmer if it wasn't the exploding model, but it'll be swapped soon enough).

Actually, it's because of the jack that I bought the Note 7, but wow, Apple is living in the stone age. The Edge Panels alone are worth leaving Apple's ecosystem. Not to mention the gorgeous screen.

Phil is right, everyone should have the courage to give the note 7 or s7 a test drive. I'll never own another iPhone.

Great post, made me laugh. I too have a "backup android" and yes its nice - but I wouldn't swap the apple ecosystem not if my life depended on it.

It's a discussion. The only people whining are those blindly following Apple.
It's not a discussion it's more just bashing. Like I said before 83% of headphones sold are wireless. People are moving on to wireless, you are just whining. So you don't like you won't buy it move on.

Where's your source on that?

Oh you don't have one. You're just making **** up to argue your herd mentality.

Gives a statistic, doesn't give a source. Sounds legit.

But let's put that aside. Headphones aren't the only thing that uses the headphone jack.

If headphones weren't used as much as you suggest then they wouldn't have included an adapter.

I'm not whining but then I know how to discuss news items.

BT sales numbers are irrelevant.

Oh thank goodness! Now to plug in my headphones and charge while driving, I just plug my headphones into my 3.5 to lightning adapter, plug my usb cable into my car charger, plug that usb into Belkin's new adapter, plug the 3.5 to lightning adapter into Belkins adapter, and plug Belkin's adapter into my phone.

Thanks Apple for working closely with Belkin on this solution to your courage!

Are you driving? No headphones. There's a radio. Get a bluetooth one and install it. Four kids with headsets in the back. Quiet in the driver's seat.

He's actually wrong. 83% are wired. However, the rate of Bluetooth sales / profits are going way up. And this was before the iPhone was officially announced.

You just admitted you don't know what you're talking about and you're willing to lie to argue your point.

I suggest you look up the definition of the word "lie" before you start throwing the word around. Some research would do you well, but I'm not sure you're competent enough.

Different use cases for different people. I frequently charge and listen while walking, using an external battery in a small runner's pouch on my belt (not much of a hassle at all - I solved that problem early on). I often take long walks at night, after a day of using my phone (thus, frequently starting out with the battery quite low), listening to audiobooks or podcasts, or music, and sometimes playing Ingress (Pokémon Go's predecessor), which eats battery. So, always listening, and frequently charging, and yes, this adapter wouldn't be the end of the world, but it'd be a hassle - currently, I have two light, well-connected, wires hanging from my phone, to charge and listen; with this adapter, I'd have a fiddly bit dangling in between (and putting somewhat more physical strain on the Lightning connection). When I eventually upgrade to an iPhone 7 or 8, I'll probably end up switching to wireless headphones, giving up my Etymotics earphones with custom-molded earpieces (not quite audiophile class, but quite good). Don't assume your use case is everyone else's, or even the most prevalent.

My friend there is NOTHING wrong with having a "fiddly bit dangling in between" you sound like you'd be a very lucky guy to me.

So, everyone who doesn't have the same use case as you can go screw themselves, is that it? Nice point of view. I listen and charge at the same time quite often. Do I not matter? Should I be punished for doing something differently than you?

I'm not trying to listen to music. I'm trying to use my Apple Maps as GPS AND charge my phone on long road trips. My car does not have navigation system or bluetooth. Bluetooth receivers absolutely suck in my experiences and cuts in/out or just flat out don't work. I can either (1) not use navigation in my car because I can't hear the navigation directions over my radio [this is fixed when my phone is connected to aux] or (2) be lost because my phone died trying to use navigation.

I do charge and use aux all day.
Then this adapter is for you, or one what has the DAC analog 3.5mm built in. Reminds me of my 30 pin/lightening adapter I used until I just junked all the 30 pin stuff.

Again, for the vast majority this isn’t even a blip on their radar, they will get the 7 and adjust to the new way of doing things with hardly a glance back.
