Hmm, I wonder if this will allow 'pass through charging' at 2.1 amps vs. the 500 mA that gets sent from my Audi's MMI through their AMI cable.

I totally disagree. Samsung touchwiz is a mess. As soon as the new nexus comes its outa here. The edge causes constant mistouches, the finger print reader never works and you have to hit the home button just right

I haven't used wired headphones in years, so all this bitching is comedy to me

Is there a big difference between a cleaner android like the Nexus and installing a launcher like Nova on my galaxy?

The iPhone 6s fingerprint reader is much better than the Note 7. The iPhone is faster and more accurate. But for me, the audio jack is more important than the fingerprint reader.

I do have trouble holding the phone so I don't get edge touches; so far it's mostly a problem with games.

1.- Don't tell people what to do.
2.- The wheel is also ancient technology, maybe we should remove that too?
3.- Why do I need an adapter when before I had the same functionality?
4.- Ancient connector that works better than the "current" solution. That's is not innovation, that's inconvenience.

What a tried and failed analogy. There is no viable replacement for the wheel- there is for the headphone jack.

If we get wireless charging on the iPhone "8" then this problem goes away.

Apple will skip 8 and 9 and call it 10.
Why
• respect to Steve - Steve launched the iPhone 10 years earlier.
• its been done before Psion skipped "4" although "4" is an unlucky number in China this wasn't Psions main market at the time by a long way.

Cheers

I know what lying means, kid. I'm very used to people trying to propagate their own bull **** because they're afraid of having people calling them out on their ****.

What I did was use an anecdote. I'll help you out, here. An anecdote is defined as:

"an account regarded as unreliable or hearsay."

I never said that I was basing my figure on some scientific fact. If anything, I doubt that any study was ever done on this. I am, however, basing it on what I know from what I see and from the fact that Apple wouldn't remove this if they felt that it would hurt sales and create a big issue. Putting those two together, I made an amusing estimate (it's probably not all THAT far off from reality, though) for the sake of conversation.

You somehow don't grasp the concept of an anecdote and think that it's a lie unless it's backed by scientific proof. So, as stated before, kiddo, I suggest you go and look up words like "lie" before you use them. You're embarrassing yourself calling folks liars on here.

Spending $40 to regain previous functionality is absurd. If you think differently, you're clouded and also being absurd. This is a poor decision. The jack will return for iPhone 8.
Nah, Apple's more stubborn than that. If sales are really abysmally terrible, they'll include a pair of wireless headphones with iPhone 8. If sales continue to suck, they might bring it back for the 2018 iPhone. But their past indicates they will definitely stick to their guns through at least one iteration.

Your original post was too brief and rudely worded. It came off as narrow minded and silly. This response is much better. Be sure what you write communicates what you intend.

It was "rudely worded" because a bunch of trolls are calling people liars on here every chance they get. Furthermore, I wrote exactly what I intended. I didn't see the need to further extrapolate on the point because I assumed someone would understand.

Shame on me for assuming anything about the internet, I guess.

Yeah, the 7S cycle. I seriously think a redesign will see it return - with some Apple spin of course to make it look like it was their call, not anybody else's.

So what you're saying is your opinion is right when it's the opinion of one person - you - but the oppositie opinion of one person is incorrect? Way to go and rootin for ya but the world is not full of sycophants.

I'm not lying.

Moving to android would eliminate tons of cross device integration that I depend on everyday. From encrypted text conversations with my family that are automatically and simultaneously existent on all my devices, to notes, calendars, documents, contacts, and settings that all move seamlessly between my iPhone, iPad, Macs, and AppleTVs, to being able to airdrop large groups of files (eg. photographs) without having to depend on kludgy, non-built-in solutions, ... all these things would either disappear or be greatly impacted by a move away from iPhone. My AirPlay speakers in the garage would be useless, as would the entertainment system in my basement.

Switching from an iPhone to Android may be nothing more than an insular shift for someone that treats their phone as an isolated device, but that's really missing the point of today's technology.

If that's what you think, you're way way behind on the times man..... sounds like you've never used an Android phone, LOL.

Oh thank goodness! Now to plug in my headphones and charge while driving, I just plug my headphones into my 3.5 to lightning adapter, plug my usb cable into my car charger, plug that usb into Belkin's new adapter, plug the 3.5 to lightning adapter into Belkins adapter, and plug Belkin's adapter into my phone.

Thanks Apple for working closely with Belkin on this solution to your courage!

Please stop the distortion. First off, you shouldn't be wearing headphones while you drive. Second, most cars are now manufactured with BT, 90% adoption rate by the end of this year with already 26 million vehicles with it, but should you want to wear your headphones and charge at the same time, it's no where near as complicated as you describe it. You simply plug this Belkin adapter into your phone and then plug your charger cable and headphones into it. If you are in the minority who aren't using lightning equipped headphones, you undoubtedly already have attached the tiny adapter Apple gave you. If not, attach it and then plug in your headphones. A total of about ten seconds at the outside. Your life isn't going to end.

Yes. A small minority of people should not stand in the way of making a product better overall.
Now you change your story. I said nothing about standing in the way of the direction Apple is going - indeed, I have said, numerous times on this forum, "Apple has a track record of dragging people, kicking and screaming, into a better future". But a bit ago you were saying people with my use case deserved to be effectively punished by having to use a dongle. The exact quote was, "They should matter so little that they deserve such a silly dongle." Can you understand the distinction that doing something for the greater good can cause suffering along the way, and you should not delight in the suffering of others? You will find yourself in the minority on something some day. I hope those nearby then are more understanding than you are being now.

I'm actually happy to see so many people taking issue with this. I hope they don't buy the phone. It'll just increase my chances to get 1 for myself and one for my wife tonight.

I seriously don't get it. I would think the benefit of helping to make the phone water resistant would be worth the loss of a port that is using 50 year old technology.

So you were rude because other people were being rude, and you were vague because you didn't want to bother. Got it. The funny thing is, I agree with your actual point. I just don't agree with your discourse. But that's life, I suppose.

Unfortunately, I have. I have family members that own them, and I have to help solve their issues. The 'solutions' Android has for the use cases I'm talking about are clunky, achieved through a kludged together mishmash of disparate services, and often require others you're working with to have set the same crap up. No thank you, Android users can keep it.

Look at the discourse in this thread, though. It's a joke. I'm not going to put the effort in if no one else will. C'est la vie.

Here's an example where it would come in useful if I get the iPhone 7. It would be an adaptor overload though with 3.5 to Lightning for the headphones and USB to Lightning for the keyboard plugged into a Belkin Lightning splitter.

But don't you like widgets on your screen, bruh.

Ah, I see, you're including the s cycle. I was assuming the 2017 device would be called the 8 or something completely different because it's the 10th anniversary phone. Carry on.
