As another member has pointed out, it also depends on the vehicle.
One of my family member has the anker one with wireless charging that has support stands. Yet, it has fallen off a couple of times already. (Costing me quite a few screen protectors on top of that)

I had a bunch of those Kenu's when they came out and were all the rage. They were awful IMO, not just because the vent design is shaky/loose and blasts hot/cold air on the phone, but the rubber covers on the prongs would wear away rather quickly leaving exposed metal prongs which scratched up my car vents.

You have a car that doesn't let you turn of a single vent?
I didn't know they sold any anymore.

Yep, because I really want to lose the functionality of one of my car's vents designed to heat/cool myself and my vehicle. Especially seeing the one I would most likely mount my phone on would be the one most proximal to me.

Who do people think that a product shown off at the keynote will make phones fall off it easily? looks pretty beefy for bigger magnets and has the lower magnet alignment.
any reviews on this yet?

lol... As far as the phone staying mounted, I am sure it will hold, that is afterall why they created MagSafe. If something this basic doesn't work, why the redesign? I will say the lack of charging is a deal breaker for me. if you look at the picture on Belkin's site, they have a lightening cable hanging that you will have to plug in... lol... really???

Safe, powerful, magnetic

A high-quality base and sturdy vent clip ensure that your Magnetic Car Vent Mount stays safely in place, through all the road’s bumps and turns.

I guess time will tell.

Looks like a good solution to me! But why isn't it black?? I don't want a grey square on my black dashboard when I'm not using it.

10 years late but hey, ok..
Who has

I don't mind because I use my phone as my headunit in my car all digital. I need to plug it in anyway. Some or most people are happy with bluetooth crap. meh

uh when would you not have your phone on the holder? It literally stays on it the whole time you drive unless you pull it off to use which you shouldn't be doing in your car anyway.

Is that a blue light on the side? That is sexy, but there’s no air vents built into the holder itself so phone will get too hot and it doesn’t say it supports fast charging, which is necessary for driving unless you want your phone to only hold it’s Charge or slowly drop it.
you shouldn't be fast charging your phone every second of every day. A normal charger in the car that slowly increases is fine. Are you really on your phone that much that you cant get through a day of use without fast charging in a car?

I have a hard time believing a phone will stay on this mount if the car isn’t driving on glass-smooth asphalt. The magnets ar not strong enough. And it doesn’t have a charger? What’s the point? MagSafe is worthless. Total misuse of the original product name. Steve Jobs would never have let this be put out.
You've seen how magnets work right? Two magnets together.
What happens if one magnet is much bigger?
What happens if that magnet has more surface area for support?
Common now its common sense that accessories can have LARGE magnets which will hold the phone just fine.
What you think there's the same size magnets in the wallet cases as this car mount holder? Common now.
We all need to go back and watch breaking bad once again.

agree. i would definitely purchase if that was the case
That one is nice. Less surface area than the Belkin and don’t like that whole phone won’t sit flush on it.
mom waiting out on reviews on the Belkin. I think it will be pretty stable in its design and size.

there are lots of magnetic mount before magsafe were announced where the mount is magnetic and you put a metal backplate at the back of your case and it magnetically sticks to it and it has been working fine.

i don't see why magnet + magnet is going to be worse than magnet + metal backplate.

i drove around in a 3rd world country with lots of potholes and it was fine. unless your driving suck and you like to accelerate + brake every 5 seconds then i can see why it will fall off but otherwise, this isnt new technology and its been on the market for a long time and it works.

That’s when you had to put a metal piece inside of a case. It’s a little different now that it’s built into the phone. So no plate needed. No case needed. I still imagine the magnet mounts over the last few years that included a metal part inside the case should work as they seem to have pretty strong magnets. Still waiting for reviews of a lot of different ones.

I do food delivery all day I don’t want to have to plug my phone in every single time I get back in the car 30 times a day

Short drives when I'm happy with the radio or USB stick and not fussed about listening to music of my phone or using satnav. So I wouldn't bother pulling my phone out of my pocket in that case.

more power to ya. I cant do the radio anymore. Ive probably used it 2 times in the last 3 years and instantly get frustrated with commercials. Even if it is a 5 minute drive.

Right? The commercials are so irritating.
Another reason I gave up cable too. No idea why people pay 120$ for cable and still have 5 minute commercials that will literally drive me insane. I have no idea how any cable company is still in business with the crazy amount of commercials on every channel. Older I get the more commercials drive me crazy. No commercials life is much better for me.
