Check out ProclipUSA.com They create a customized mount for each car model and each phone model. I had one for each of my cars and they fit perfectly. Of course, you have to buy a new mount when you change your car or phone, but it's very solid. Only drawback is that they don't have integrated wireless charging.
I've used ProClip before and, while it's not pretty, it's rock solid and gets the job done. While they don't have a 'native' wireless charging mount, they do have an adapter to use with Scosche's MagicMount Charge (which doesn't work with MagSafe, by the way). I asked them whether they plan to create a MagSafe mount and they said they don't know.

Probably just fine. I have a similar style that works really well. Has never fallen off in the three years I've used it.

As another member has pointed out, it also depends on the vehicle.
One of my family member has the anker one with wireless charging that has support stands. Yet, it has fallen off a couple of times already. (Costing me quite a few screen protectors on top of that)

Looking forward to reading about how my iPhone flew off the mount because the magnets aren’t strong enough lol

folks the iPhone can’t hold a wallet securely. What makes you think it’s going to hold it’s own weight?!
I'm more worried about the vent attachment. I've never had one that was secure for long.

feeling how loose my magsafe charger is attached to my iPhone 12 with a case, im pretty positive it wont survive a bump in a car. We'll see how strong the magnets are, but looking at the support documents of apple, they have a limit, if you want to call it "magsafe"
But the car mount could (and obviously will) have much stronger magnets in it than your charger. I'm sure Belkin have tested this before putting it into mass production.

Has anyone tried using their existing dashboard magnetic car mount, putting a magnetic on the MagSafe charger. From there using an Apple MagSafe case, and then connecting the iPhone to the mount that way?

I would assume this would work and the magnets would be strong since everything is Apple, yet it would charge the phone.

Yes, multiple people have posted showing this works well

Awesome! Thank you for confirming. I’ll try this once my mini comes in. I’ll need to buy a circular magnet for the MagSafe charger. This would probably be the best option assuming you get an Apple case. Now I have to buy a USB C car charger...

It will be interesting to see if they used stronger magnets than Apple is recommending for MagSafe devices. I agree that the 12’s, especially the Pro Max’s, are likely to not be as secure as you’d want. Especially given how it’s easier to break a magnetic bond using quick impacts against the main magnetic force, which is what gravity and bumps will do in a car.
It will mount your rear glass instead of your phone, lol

DO NOT BUY THIS!!!!

I had one from a different company and during the winter my phone would shut off due to excess heat.

Basically the hot air from the vent was super-heating my phone to a dangerous level.

BUYER BEWARE. YOU’RE IN FOR A SCARE.
You have a car that doesn't let you turn of a single vent?
I didn't know they sold any anymore.

The MagSafe charger itself can be mounted in your car with 3M adhesive and it holds the phone perfect and charges!!

I bought the iPhone 12, MagSafe Case and MagSafe Charger. The magnet with the MagSafe case is a lot stronger and it holders just fine with the MagSafe! I use the vellum 30w usb c car plug.

Thanks for the info... I might just tape a MagSafe puck to my existing car mount...

:p

Sorry apple but this is still the best setup for me

That is perhaps the worst vent mount I have ever seen!

How good does the clip stay on the vents that are not designed to hold the weight of a phone?
I don't doubt that the magnet will hold, I just don't see how the plastic air vents will support the weight of the phone + the Belkin doo dad. I've used clips before that mount on the air vent with lighter phones and they do slide out, so I don't know how this will be much different.

Interested to see the reviews though once people get them in hand.

I have had an iOttie vent car clip for over five years, and once I got it in the right spot, it has stayed onand held my phone securely. I can’t remember the last time it came out of the vent. I have it clipped in towards the bottom, so the vent itself can’t swivel, but that’s it.

If it were magnetic, I wouldn’t want to replace it even now.

I know there are definitely some badly designed versions out there, so I can see how some might skip out or drop the phone, but mine was only like $25, and it’s been perfect.

Don’t get the hate. If you have the right combination of vent design and vent holder (physical or magnetic), it can be an elegant and quick mounting solution. Of course here you’re paying both the Belkin AND MagSafe tax, but it’s not ridiculously priced like many Apple accessories.

I like the idea so I’ve bought one to hopefully replace my Kenu Airframe. Don’t care about charging as my new 12 Pro has a battery that will outlast any car journeys I’ll make for the foreseeable, and if I ever need a trickle charge, my Audi has a Qi wireless pad built into my centre console.

Perhaps you have never used a vent-mount. To close a vent, many cars, even modern ones, means closing the vent louvers ... but you can't do that if the mount is clipped to the louvers.
My Ford Focus actually lets you turn off individual vents without having to close the vent louvers, there is a dial next to it that turns the air from full to off.

Guess Apple will not blindly put any stuff on their store without due diligently tested. But I may be wrong. I was quite interested to see how it fair the Apple MagSafe case hold up to Apple wallet compared to normal case without magnet. It comes as a series of propriety accessories. Yes, market will catch up. But it will be hard to implement some features like MagSafe ring popping up colour based on case or MagSafe wallet shape UI popping when attached.

Third party will catch up. And I am kinda in love hate affair with Apple. But hard to miss the point on their attention to details. Hence, their choice of belkin on the vent is quite interesting. Let’s see what it offers.

Good to know. The one I had was definitely just a random one I found on Amazon, so the quality there definitely could have been a part of my problem.

Again, it is vehicle dependent. Glad to hear your vehicle works.

Vent mounts of any type are pretty horrible all around.
When you turn on the heat, the phone overheats.
When you turn on the AC, the phone gets way too cold.
The vent fins aren't very sturdy
The attachment clip to grab the vent fins isn't very secure.

I had a vent mount for my iPhone 4S way back then and after a few uses I tossed it on the trash. And the iPhone 4 is tiny
We used the same phone. May have had the same mount. My mount was also trashed. First and last time I used a vent mount.

This FUD needs to be stopped in its place. There is no "THE MAGNET". There are the magnets in the phone, magnets in the cases, magnets in the wallet, magnets in the charger, magnets in all the accessories being made.

The wallet intentionally has "weak" magnets in it so that it is not a pain the iass to use. Some people have decide to label this bad because they think the wallet should be glued to the phone and impossible to remove. Well, they don't get it. And that's fine, they don't have to buy it.

MagSafe accessories can all be as strong or not strong as they need/want to be.

You are using the term "FUD" incorrectly, but besides that I'm just putting forth my opinion. I see that you didn't bother to read the rest of my post where I hope that accessories will have their own stronger magnets to satisfy consumers such as myself. Yes there is a "THE MAGNET" on the phone itself in case you missed that hardware detail.

But continuing my opinion I still (based on the reviews I've seen so far) opine that the "weak" magnets in the wallet/phone combination isn't a good design decision. I really don't want my wallet falling off every time I put the phone into my pocket or otherwise then I have the phone out. The wallet falls off with a good shake, that's too loose.

But it's ok that you missed the entire point of my post. It's not particularly difficult to envision having a stronger magnet combination, yet still being easily removable. What is more likely to happen is that other 3rd party wallets with stronger magnets will be released.
