There are 2500+ people here right now in the middle of the day. This seems like an extremely small percentage of users. What makes you think someones first thought will be to rush to the internet rather than just, you know, take it back?

reddit has 10 cases, twitter from my search today for the past 3 days has 5
oneofthenine has 31, 7 of which are apple stores bent intentionally.

lets multiply 31+10+5 x 100 just for giggles: 46*100 = 4600 which is 0.05% of all iphones sold and this is based on the phones sold in first 5 days not till today

lets for even more laughs multiple 46 by 10,000 which is 46,000 bent phones which makes it 0.5% of all phones sold in first 5 days

lets go for the FULLLLLL hyperbole of 460,000 iPhones bent, that still makes it 4.6% and within industry failure rate of 8%,

Lets get the facts straight.
Is the iphone 6 and 6+ much weaker than the 5 and 5s?
Have there been reports of these phones bending in normal use?
Do you have evidence that this is impossible?
If you have evidence, I'm all ears. I just don't trust companies when they say this is no problem.
edit: I don't understand what you mean by referencing the posts. If you're going to dismiss it and only count a review site such as consumer report as valid, then it the same thing as not referring to them.

Let us know when you find ANY significant number of actual examples of bent phones from normal use. Until then you're just fueling the hysteria for no reason.

You realize that its the corporations thats more powerful than consumers right? Stop asking consumers to prove themselves and have the corps divulge themselves.

Case? What case? People posting they have bent phones?

That's not a case.

What you have are anecdotal comments.

You have no evidence if the people posting are truthful, trolls or paid plants.

Basically, you got nothing but pixels on a screen, in which the interpretation is left up to the reader.

The only giggle here is your make believe math.
lets go for the FULLLLLL hyperbole ...snip
Appears you got that well covered.

so where is your math retort, oh wait you have none, you have just a few cases. I am just giving you a dose of reality. make it an issue when it is an issue.

This is where your "logic" completely fails. It isn't some object sitting in a lab somewhere in complete isolation. There are now tens of millions of them all over the world being used by people normally right now. They are being "tested" in real world conditions every second of every day since launch on the 19th of last month. So, if it only took 20-30 pounds of force to deform the case don't you think we'd be seeing many dozens if not many hundreds of cases (at least) of bent phone reports right here on the board? And if not here elsewhere on the Web? Of course we would! So, where are all these bent phones?

And THAT is the answer you're looking for.

The phones been out for 3 weeks, 6 pluses (the more bend prone phone) are relatively rare at the moment, and most claims seem to get buried quick. Let's see what the situation looks like in a couple months as people have these devices for longer.

Wrong. According to CR the 6 (the thinner of the two) is the more fragile and supposedly bend prone phone. The reason reports have gotten "buried quickly" is because the ones we've seen so far have been either factory defects or bogus in some way.

This and I'm pretty sure, the phones coming off the assembly line in the next weeks will have a stronger reinforcement where the buttons are.

is that even possible though? they can't modify the already designed product in assembly line.even if they could, that would add extra weight to the phone and make it different than advertised specs.

No way, no how. Why? Because there's no issue to fix. If Apple did this it would make it appear that the "issue" was legitimate, which it isn't.

Actually I know this isnt a big issue like people say but I still believe Apple is adjusting the current manufacturing process to add an additional steel titanium reinforcement or placing it strategically in future batches.

I suppose you're welcome to believe whatever you want but I'd bet every penny I own that they aren't.

1. Media outlet tries to jump on the bandwagon and get a few ad $$$.
2. Media outlet takes the piss and calls Apple for a comment.
3. Media outlet gets upset when, due to this, it loses its access to apple's events.
4. Media outlet has a tantrum.

It's like being invited to a dinner party, then posting a video slating the food they served, calling your host to ask their comments on your thoughts, and then getting angry when you don't get invited to their next dinner party.

What issue? That you can bend it with your hands? That's not an issue. That's idiots bending phones on purpose.

Guys, this is not about bendgate. It is about how Apple controls the media, which is bad for consumers. Just like government controls the media. You have to see the big picture here and what Apple could do in the future. Apple could easily bury the truth, if Apple got too powerful over the media. That might be crossing the line between ethical and unethical actions for providing consumers any information.

I believe Apple bans people and delete posts to cover some truths that pops up in Apple community forum, If the truths could possibly hurt Apple business.

Look at it from Apple's point of view. What would happen if Apple let this bendgate stuff run rampant? Or if they let the next big rumor to prosper. It wouldn't be long until their reputation is shot and sales drop. Apple is on top and basically everyone is gunning for them.

On a side-note. The biggest issue with the iPhone has got to be the iPhone 4 with the dropped calls. And even though Apple didn't admit fault atleast they offered us free cases. This bendgate stuff is retarded in comparison. People are bending their phones and being surprised the phone bends, wtf.

its bendy ok? its ok that it is. its a good phone, just bends easy, and thats ok.

Would you rather have it made of cheap plastic? Or be twice as thick? There is no perfect design; every design choice has pros and cons.

Hate to point out obvious logic but if something can be done on purpose it can be done on accident.

Feel like you ignore a lot of legitimate reviews and such also. Like wired and several others, didn't they accidentally bend theirs?

And just because it's not an issue for you doesn't mean it's not an issue for everyone. Do you honestly believe every single accidental iphone bending case the person was lying? Unlikely. Therefore their lifestyle, clothing, etc makes owning an iPhone an issue.

First, there's not one iota of logic in the statement that "if it can be done on purpose it can be done on accident." That just doesn't bear up to scrutiny at all. I can bash the screen of my TV in on purpose too, but that's never going to happen accidentally.

Second, I haven't ignored anything. There have been a grand total of two media sources who reported "bent phones." Like the various cases we've seen here there's nothing in their stories to suggest that the phones were actually bent in a pocket. It appears that most of not all of these were phones that were bent out of the box and not noticed by the owner until a few days after purchase. The "bent in my pocket" claim has been a guess in practically every single case.

See, unlike you I'm actually reading each case and where possible talking to each person who reports a bent phone. I'm not making any assumptions here. You most certainly are.

its bendy ok? its ok that it is. its a good phone, just bends easy, and thats ok.

Except that it doesn't "bend easily." Even if you buy every single unintentional bend report out there it still doesn't add up to "bends easily," so what you're doing is spreading FUD.

Meh. Apple isn't the government. Apple doesn't own the media.

Right, they rarely admit problems. But they quietly fix the problems next gen product.
