I wonder how well whatever the color will stay on the watch? It would look quite bad if the original color starts showing.

I recall when the original Apple Watch first came out there was a company selling a kit to gold plate it at home… I tried to get one at the time but I think I couldn’t get it shipped into the US, I don’t recall exactly what the problem was. Other jewelers I spoke with didn’t want to bother doing it themselves, and Apple later started selling a gold-tinted watch, which was close enough for me, so that’s what I got when I finally upgraded.

I ran across someone last October that had done this to his Ultra. Really liked that shade of blue (but I’m not sure about this one’s gold plating). The guy also said that the process broke some heart sensor which isn’t great... EGC maybe.

Doesn't look that bad but would be curious to see how the finish holds up long term I purchased one of his watches when Apple introduced the 18kt gold watch but after awhile the plating started coming off lucky I was able to recoup my money on eBay lesson learned .

Insane to me people would spend $800 on a finish... on a tech device that is replaced within a few years.. Goes to show how detatched from reality the ultra-rich are. Especially with how everything is degrading around the world and the middle class is practically dissapearing entirely, upper and lower classes almost exponentially becoming more separate..

But anyway yeah, "spend your massive amounts of cash on whatever you want" and all that...

Specialist jeweler De Billas Lux has caused a stir among timepiece collectors by offering a custom Apple Watch Ultra model with an anodized blue titanium case.

The Digital Crown is anodized in gold, and the Action button, while retaining an International Orange outline, has also been given an anodized blue finish. Inside the custom box is a gold-plated link bracelet to boot.

According to a video on its Watch Plating Pros YouTube channel, De Billas is able to create a range of unique colors for Apple Watch Ultra enthusiasts, however unfortunately it has not been able to achieve a black finish, which is one of its most requested colors.

Among its stall of prestigious brands like Rolex and Audemars Piguet, the Arizona-based jeweler is currently offering custom Apple Watch Ultra models for $1,499, with buyers paying an extra $700 on top of Apple's official $799 price for the ultra-premium finish.

Apple only offers the Apple Watch Ultra with a silver titanium finish, and there's no word on whether it will offer different finishes in a future update.

Tim Apple is turning over in his grave

How long before Apple sends a cease and desist order? I’m sure this is against Apple’s TOS.

And if they are NOT authorized third party Apple reseller, then they DEFINITELY can expect a cease and desist.
Two things:

1. On what legal basis would that C&D stand?

2. Colorware has been selling custom-colored Apple stuff for close to 20 years.

It has been a while since dabbled in serious watch collecting, but I seriously doubt some third-party anodizing of a mass-produced wrist computer will draw much notice among that crowd.
Watch people are weird. They will calmly dismiss the Apple Watch one moment, and completely spaz out about it the next. Which kinda makes sense, because their 5 or 6 figure fashion accessories are simultaneously vastly superior in some ways, and hopelessly obsolete and anachronistic in others. They want them to be completely separate categories, but the AW goes on your wrist and tells time, which are 2 of the 3 things that luxury watches do. (the 3rd thing being costing more than the car).
