I put the watch on the charger around 12:30 and went to lunch. I returned to my desk around 2:30 and started the pairing and update process. By 4:30 watch OS 3 was installed and the watch was ready to go.

The first time I paired it was on 1.01 and the watch didnt see the update or the phone correctly. I unpaired, closed and reopened the Watch app and repaired and it picked up OS3 and started the update process.

I also left the phone and watch charging the whole time.

Hope this helps.

If you are in the 165-170 mm range you can really go with either I think. I have 165 mm wrists and I agonized over this decision when the first series came out, I actually had both and went with the 42, but I could have gone with the 38 if I really wanted to. 42 just seemed to fit on my wrist well and seemed right to me. If you can go to the store and try them on. If you take a picture try and have someone stand at a distance and take the picture of it on your wrist. If you take a close up picture of it on your wrist you get this fish eye effect and the watch really looks bigger on the wrist than it really is. Wrist width is also more important than the diameter and I think I have flatter wrists so even though its 165 mm I think it was wide enough where the 42 seemed to fit more so that was what we found back then wast to start looking at wrist width. Can't remember my measurement but it was like 50-55mm I think.

A lot of this is personal style too, where you are at neither of them is going to look strange or out of place on your wrist. Also I wouldn't care too much about screen readability, battery life or any of that stuff personally, with something like this I care more about how it looks. You aren't going to be reading books on the thing so I always thought these knocks were way overblown and I had both for a decent amount of time and they both functioned completely fine.

I'm at 34 minutes usage and 5 hours, 48 minutes standby with 89% battery remaining, is that normal?
That's actually very good if you ask me. 6 hours of no use can be as much as 3% per hour while on your wrist. Sometimes I can go 2+ hours with the battery still at 100% but it usually evens out and be around 80% 5-6 hours later with light use. 89% with some usage and over 7 hours off the charger is great to me.

That's good to hear. Now I'm at 55 mins usage and 9 hrs 15 mins standby with 79% remaining.

So I don't know if my apple watch read my post but I let it charge all night and day and came back from work and it paired with my phone right away and then asked if I wanted to set up as a new watch or restore from backup. I restored from a OS 3 backup that wasn't currently paired and it came out set up just like my other watch. Has my watch faces and everything. Really painless so maybe they just have issues at low charge or take a really long time to charge. Really enjoying the watch though it is a completely different look and I really like it.

I think the battery charge may be why folks are having problems updating their new s0 watches. I noticed when I was restoring my watch the battery was depleting even when I had it plugged in. If your battery is pretty dead I could see it failing because it doesn't have enough power to continue.

It worked on the 1st try with the new Apple Watch today! I would advise anyone from buying open box at best buy. Its been a long 24 hours.

I bought one the other day and mines been flawless. Oddly my battery's been better than the series 1 I had. Could just be how I'm using it.

Mine booted up when I first opened it at 50/60%. I actually walked around target while it downloaded my watch backup and sync'd lol. Put it right on Watch OS3 etc, wasn't even on wifi.

I didn't use it a ton last night but I did. Left the house with the fiancé at 8pm with 100% battery. Came home around 1am with like 95%. And j did use it a bit while out.

The battery on my new original series watch from Best Buy is better than my Series 1 also. The series 2 I returned however had better battery life than both of them.

Agree with the battery thing. Had a heck of a time (failed twice; first time stuck on verifying, second time said it would take 8hrs) updating my new s0 ss to os3, so i gave up and let it charge fully. Once it was fully charged, took about 3hrs to update and restore. Very happy that I "upgraded" from s0 space grey to s0 ss, I really like that it just looks and feels better.

Series 2 has a bigger battery so if you don't use gps then it should last longer even with a brighter display

Yep I think so too, it was completely painless once the watch was completely charged. Also just restoring from backup was pretty nice because it was just set up the way I wanted right off the bat so it was a great experience just have to let it sit and charge a while.

As far as battery life goes I used the watch yesterday and wasn't able to charge it until this morning and it was at like 30% which is pretty good I think. I am probably using it heavily since it's newer but that is about in line with what I'd expect. I remember my first watch would end up with around 30% when I first got it too. I also remember there were some bad battery days so maybe it does take a few recharge cycles for them to settle in. Mine's been fine though nothing I'd complain about so far.

ARe you guys just going into the stores and asking for these, or buying them thru the website?

Hopefully the return to full price is temporary. Can't see anyone paying that much with the S1 and S2 out now.

There were a couple versions I had my eye on but looks like I'll just wait and see if they bring the discounts back.

Just an update on the dead battery discussion, I'm now getting what I think is stellar batter life on the 38mm SS link that was completely dead out of the box. At 10% right now.

Honestly, with only an $80 difference between Series 1 and Series 0, I would think that Series 0 should be much cheaper than it is for what you get. Series 1 is a much smarter buy for most people.

The key difference is that what OP is referring to is the Stainless Steel model. But yes, the Series 1 is, in my opinion, a much better value. Case material notwithstanding, the performance of the S1P (aka, S2 sans GPS) is worth the extra $80.

My battery life is unreal at least to me. Gets much better compared to the Series 1 I exchanged for a first gen SS.

Even Steven trade to, both were $299! Win! I really love the space black, and the premium feel even though I've only recently used silicone bands since I'm active,a black & white one. White silicone band looks killer against the space black for a storm trooper contrast. I do plan to get a nice midnight blue or black leather band for going out occasions.

I rather spend more, have alum, and a better functioning Watch.

I can't agree. I am coming from a series 0 sport to a series 0 stainless steel. It is like night and day material wise. I will never go back to the sport. The stainless steel looks and feels much better than the aluminum. I got my stainless steel for $275 off ebay mint condition used. The feel is so drastically different to me. Not even an $80-$100 increase for the series 1 is worth going back to aluminum. Native apple apps run fast on the series 0 and 3rd party apps are just not useful yet in my opinion.

I will be using the 1 model behind method just to stay will stainless steel. The only way I can see my self paying for stainless at full price is when the watch becomes independent of the phone. Until then built in GPS is useless because I will always have my phone on me while running to make emergency phone calls.

Also, I do not have a need for waterproofing at the moment.
