So my battery was dead too. I think these were sitting around for a long time but I tell you what they should not have gotten rid of this white leather loop, it looks killer with space black and would look even better with their ceramic edition, I'm calling it NasaBand. The link band was actually NIB and is really kind of blowing me away right now.

I'm really just as happy with the series 0 watch as I would have been with a series 2 honestly. So basically I was thinking series 2 space black with sport band to pair with my series 0 space black link band. Instead I got a SS link for the same price with a 150 band on top (basically for free) which has a completely different look and I can use with my existing S0 watch instead of simply replacing it with the same look. I'm really happy with the decision. Here's to buying that ceramic edition to complete set for like $500 @ best buy the in next year whenever they come out with series 3.

I spoke to Apple over the phone, but I guess I probably should have gone into an Apple Store. I asked if I could add AppleCare so that I could do the express replacement and they said no! In fact I can't add AppleCare now that they know that there is an issue with it. I have to get it replaced. Kind of not cool but whatever. I guess I will just suck it up and send it in to them but it is no fun having to return a new toy!

I would probably still try taking the watch into an Apple Store with your Best Buy receipt. you have up to 30 days to add Apple Care and you maybe able to add it on the spot.

Or if you live near a Best Buy you can buy Apple Care in the Best Buy store and then turn around and use it with Apple.

yup, 30 days is what i got also on mine.

wife's 38mm SS came in and also a dead battery. took forever to charge then forever again to get the new software going. it wouldn't let me go forward using the watch on 1.0.1 for some reason? It was saying the software was up to date but couldn't advance after that. I'd hit cancel and it would say it would reset and erase all settings? took a few times of restarting and repairing for it to see watch os3 to show and update. took about 2hrs to update.

I am going through that now with my wife's 38mm. Battery came dead and watchOS3 took 1 hour to download. Once it downloaded I tried to install but it would not verify and kept failing. Then the update screen disappeared and the screen said the watch was up to date with 1.0.1 . I erased all content on the watch and now I am waiting another hour for watchOS3 to download. This is a nightmare.

That stinks guys. I have had zero problems with my 42mm open box i bought from Best Buy the other day. The sales guy who sold it to me said it was his. He exchanged for a sport model to save money and now is jealous for what i am paying for it lol.

When i booted it up it had about 50% juice. Actually left BB, drove to target and paired it to my phone while walking around target lol. By the time i got home it had a backup of my previous apple watch which was a series 1 sport i returned for the SS series 0.

The apple site has a tool that lets you add AppleCare now. Did you try that? Good luck.

I'm having a bit of a nightmare trying to get watch OS3 on mine too. I wish it would just pair with the watch and then let me use it a bit and then upgrade to OS3 but it kind of goes right into the long OS update the phone keeps plugging away, the watch seems to forget it's supposed to be doing something and goes back to the pick a language screen and 3 hours later the phone finally says the pairing failed and asked to restart. I left it going last night with both charging and the same thing happened. I remember the update from OS 1 was pretty bad with my original watch too so that's kind of why I'd like to at least pair it and get it working before messing with this long update. I guess I'll have more time over the weekend to fuss with it but kind of a bummer.

My experience hasn't been the greatest either. Had the same upgrading headaches as some of you but ended up getting both link models updated and working. I'm really concerned about battery life though. Wondering if them sitting for 18 months did a number to the health of the battery. They seem to be draining extremely quick. Will put them through their paces for another few days to get a definitive answer

Thanks for the tip! That worked. Gonna try again on getting an express replacement.

For those having trouble with the update, it took me a few tries too but eventually finished. Just be patient and leave both the watch and your phone alone while they are working on it.

I don't even know what Series 0 means, but that is hardly giving away.

Series 0 is the original Apple Watch that was first released. Some of the models that Best Buy is selling were originally over a $1000 marked down to $250. The band alone retails for close to $450 on the link bracelets. So your basically getting the link bracelet and watch for way less than the cost of the link bracelet.

Which are inflated prices.

So, this offer seems kind of fair for a quality electronic watch, but it's not like a giveaway.

My saga continued... so I never got the open box 38mm SS to update to watchOS 3. I will say it is very weird for apple to force you to update to the most recent watchOS before they even allow you to pair to an iPhone & use the watch. Also, it is super inefficient to only allow the apple watch to be updated over wifi via an iPhone. Every time the install fails the watch gets wiped clean and you must start another 1 hour download cycle of the watchOS to try again. You would think they would let you connect to the computer via lighting usb cable.

Even after to being up at 1:30am with apple support. I returned it to Best Buy today and they gave me a brand new one as a replacement at the store. They held the open box price of $216 for the brand new one so that was pretty cool.

Opened it up and the battery was completely dead just like others have stated. So now it is charging to 50% before I can try this whole process again...

What did you end up paying for a 42mm Space Black with the metal band? Those were long gone around me, as well as on their site. At least in 42mm. I settled for a 42mm Space black with the silicone band for $299. Which is fine since i am in the gym with it 5 days a week. I need to find a nice leather band for it for the weekends!

I think that person got the 38mm with link for $349.

Where did you get the 42mm space black for $299 and was it new? I didn't see it on BB.

I got the 38mm Space Black Link Bracelet for $349. I would of rather had the 42mm but they were all sold out. I am actually really happy with the size of the 38mm and I love the look of the Space Black.

For those worried about the batteries sitting for a while, give it some time. Mine didn't have great battery life the first day, but now that I've had it about a week, I ended the day with like 74% yesterday, didn't charge last night, and now I'm still at 42% more than half way through the second day. I think when you first get the watch you are using it constantly for one thing, but when you start using it normally the battery should seem a lot better.

Good to know, thanks. First full day for me and I have 2.5 hours usage, 9 hours standby and its at 35% right now. I don't know if this is good or not.

It's ok, not great. For comparison, I am at 2.7 hours usage, 29 hours standby at 41%. Keep in mind that the usage drains most of the battery though, not the standby, and our usages and percents aren't too far off.

edit: Oh, 42mm by the way.

Debating getting a 38mm. How are men liking that size?

Had a Sport 42mm last year and am worried it will look small or have bad battery life

I'm at 34 minutes usage and 5 hours, 48 minutes standby with 89% battery remaining, is that normal?
