I just called and had my iPhone held and the automated system says they hold it for 5 business days from the date of available for pickup.

oh great that means my watch will be returned to best buy and will have to be reshipped after they potentially allocate it for someone else. I knew this was going to cause a logistics nightmare. I guess I just gotta cross my fingers and pray that my local apple store will have some sort of stock come the 16th.

I'm fairly certain if you call the customer reps and actually talk to a human they can send a note to the center to call you back and confirm they'll hold it longer.

I think you'll be hard pressed to find stock at AAPL before BBY. First Macbook 12" launches and the last Apple Watch I was able to get both products at best buy weeks before Apple store got them in store. Bizarre they'd be that way.

Read the fine print folks:
  • The coupon must be used in 30 days
Still a good gesture, but takes a lot of the value away for me. Also means a significant percentage of these promo codes will go unused.

Some in the thread have blamed Apple (as BestBuy implied). Could be right, but I think it more likely that BB overpromised on delivery date. They may have even knowingly done this, figuring they would sell way more watches (many people cancelled their Apple order when BB was promising release day), and the redemption rate on a 30 day $50 would be relatively low. Please be sure to use your promo code within 30 days!

And the fine print:
1 Promotional code must be redeemed by offer expiration date. Promotional codes cannot be applied toward Best Buy Gift Cards, Geek Squad® Protection Plans, state recycling fees, installation fees and third-party purchases. Redeemable in-store and online. Promotional code cannot be replaced if it is lost, stolen, or if you cancel or return your order. Promotional codes are non-transferable. Not redeemable for cash. Not valid as payment on the Best Buy credit card. Valid major credit card required for online purchases. To see how the value of promotional code has been allocated within your order, view your Order Status.

Even though I really hate BestBuy, it surprises me that even offer something that is not their fault. And $50 is a lot too. Good for those who ordered.

It's more than likely their fault. They said "the street date has changed to September 28" in the email. That's not true, the "street date" (launch date) is September 16. Their system likely took more pre-orders than it was able to facilitate and this was their way out. But they really should be careful quoting a new street date. Maybe they mean ship date?

So this is kind of great. I'm trading in my Verizon iPhone 6 64 GB to Best Buy for $232, and now with this $50 promotional code, I'm only paying $117 for the Apple Watch Series 2. That's almost 70% off! I know the iPhone trade in doesn't really count but it will count on my next credit card statement! Thanks, Best Buy!

And yes I waited on hold with Best Buy for 50 minutes to double check that I could use both my trade in and this promotional code toward the Apple Watch even though I already paid for it.

I think Best Buy could have instead offered $50 off the watch or a $50 refund. All this does (the $50 coupon code for a future visit) is ensure more spending at their store, likely more than $50 worth.
No way, I would lose the free year financing. I rather have the $50

If people want $50 off, they could place an order for a 2nd Apple Watch using the $50 promo code. When they get their 1st Apple Watch from pre-order, return it. Keep the 2nd Apple Watch.

Well BestBuy just earned by business going forward. They know how to take care of their customers. Take note Apple!

yes, give users a Promo Code to use,, that fixes everyone.... because u "must" shop there. again to use it

Providing it's in 14-day period :)

If this watch release is like the first series then you are absolutely right. The first watch was only available in Apple Stores to order online in their stores. Im hoping this isn't the case this time.

Actually if you take the time out to call the 1800 apple number and speak to someone they take your info to include serial and last 4 of imei your nearest apple store and desired model. They will force the store to give you priority assuming they have that model at all. If not they will offer you another model. To get the other model they send you an email with a special link to reserve at you choice of apple location. I got the email today after talking to them yesterday and was able to reserve a 7 plus 256gb black for pickup Friday at my local Apple Store. You need to reach out, its worth it.

I ordered from Best buy, my email didn't give me a $50 coupon. I think this is a complete hoax. Either that it's only being offered to the most top models of the watch

I ordered the 42mm Space Black Stainless BSB and received a delay email along with a second email with code for $50.

Best Buy has done it before. Quoted launch day delivery dates and then right before the date, extended expected deliveries for many who ordered. This is the first time I know of they're handing out $50 gift cards. To me, the gift cards make it seem even more like the whole process was pre-planned: Quote the same dates for all pre-orders, and then issue actual dates when it's too late to order elsewhere.

I ordered a 42mm aluminum Series 2 and I received the $50 gift card code.
