I can top all that. I was checking BB's website yesterday and noticed that a store near my office had 64GB white listed as in stock. I drove over at lunch and was told they had nothing. I was offered a $100 reservation, at which I balked. Later, anther floor person asked if I needed help, and I asked her if they had any iPads. She told me "no," so I casually told her that there website said otherwise and they should fix that.

She was surprised that the website was saying there was stock, so she checked her instore inventory thing. Whadayaknow, their machine says there are 5 64GB in stock. She keeps asking people over her headset if they know anything, and nobody does. So, she walks over to the cage where the iPads are (I had already looked in there and saw only first-gen iPads) and opens it up. Sure enough, tucked behind one of the old iPads are five new ones. I bought one. Maybe I should have gotten all five...

So, there you go. Sometimes none of them no anything at all. At least the one girl was willing to look into it herself.

This sounds very familiar to my cousin story last weekend @ BB. He went there to check on stock and everyone kept telling him no and he finally found someone that was willing to check and sure enough they found a couple of iPads in the cage. Glad you were able to get yours.

Got the best (and worst) phone call today. A voicemail left that the iPad i reserved was in! Whohooo! Then a second voicemail within a minute that it was the wrong list that was being called. They called the white 64GB Verizon list by mistake. And I want the Black 32gb ATT model. When I called back after my meeting, the White 64gb Verizon was still available and they offered their apologies. No worries, I told them, good to know I am within range of the next shipment of 32gb ATTs that comes in. :)

And for clarification, once the phone call comes in, you have 48 hours to pick it up. And also, they wont tell you where you are on that list.

My BB order might get fulfilled before my apple.com order.

They wouldn't tell me where I was on the list either...but they did say that I should expect to get the iPad I reserved within a week or two.

Hey guys... I got the phone call tonight around 7:15. Obviously, I went and picked it up tonight. Mine is a white 64GB WiFi. I was the first to reserve one from that BBY.

It's been syncing for a while (25GB of music) but figured I'd interupt it real quick to check it out for a few minutes before going to sleep and letting it finish it's first sync. FYI, I do have minor backlight bleeding... but it's only noticeable on a black screen in a dark room. I'll worry abut the backlight later. Besides that and it not having a Retina Dispay (ha), I love it! My first iPad, BTW.

Good luck getting yours!

thanks for the update, weird that they called so late in the day.

are you going to keep it or try to exchange it w/ apple for one with less bleed?

When I reserved mine yesterday @ Best Buy, they gave a copy of the sheet to select an iPad and wrote #11. The salesman said I reserved the 11th 32GB white Wifi. Cerritos, CA

I reserved at Westminister Bestbuy @ 1PM PST on Saturday
they had a lot of reservation tickets available. I chose 32GB Black Wifi. They gave me that $100 gift card and a receipt with the paper w/ the barcode(s) on it.
It seemed like we were the only ones in line... 5 Minutes after we were waiting in line and were preordering it, a huge line of people were waiting behind us... Makes me wonder if I was the first person in the reservation line. lol :apple:

Today we called them and they said maybe sometime this week they don't know when it comes in.

They also said, I'm not sure... The shipments are coming from JAPAN. How is that possible if FED EX is closed down temporarily there?

Palmdale, CA Best Buy

I'm like number 60 for a black 16gb Wifi. I'll head to Apple store Friday if it doesn't come in.

When I pre-ordered mine last sat, they actually wrote a big "14" on the top of the scannable copy....makes me wonder if I am the 14th person in line?

Yeah I had to go in there and ask them to find out what number I was on the list. Hopefully it'll be soon.

I've read on other website forums several people indicate they talked to Best Buy and were told they expected shipments sometime this week. Of course they didnt say how many they were expecting because I don't think they know. If you are high up on the reservation list there's a chance you'll be called, if not then no telling how long you'll have to wait.

These people are really unaware what is coming. Best Buy employees have no idea, only the supply chain system. Unfortunately, Apple Store and Best Buy employees are unaware because it runs on a supply chain system that automatically orders quantities based on demographics and safety stock. Once a product is scanned for purchased the system will automatically place an order when safety stock gets low. No one has a clue what is on the next delivery truck. Just a bunch of products purchased by the system.

When did they start doing the $100 down reservation? I found out about it late Sunday, so at this point I don't know where I am in the lineup at the BB near my home.

I thought they started Friday night, but the white sheet that they gave me as a reserve ticket says "Effective 3/12/11" at the bottom right corner.. I did mine on Saturday afternoon and I was first for my model, so maybe they did start Saturday.
