Good deal....what city/state is your BB located? Might be a clue to those of us in same or similar place. thx.

CerealKillers what ipad did you reserve? I'm in Gainesville and reserved a 16 gig white wifi on saturday morning, and still no call. Anyone else here in the central florida area?

Best Buy sold my iPad...

I got a phone call today from my local Best Buy - "Is this ___, hey how are you? This is ____ from Best Buy. Just wanted to let you know your iPad has arrived - you have 48 hours to pick it up". I rushed to the store after work when I noticed something was SERIOUSLY wrong. All the customer service people were gathering around, nobody could find my iPad. I was and still am LIVID. According to the store they only received 5 16gb wifi in black and notified 6 people that their iPads came in. I was one of the top of the list for this shipment and someone made a "mistake". I went on to telling them how this was unacceptable, like taking a Christmas gift away from a child on Christmas morning. They tried to make it right by offering a free magnetic cover, which I took. I also told them that i didn't want a gift card or anything else...I wanted my iPad. They said they'd call me once the next shipment arrives (who knows when that will be). The pre-order states that I am guaranteed my stock will be reserved for 48-hours once I get the call from their sales team, how would you guys play this one?

Well, there's not much they can do now, short of taking back an iPad from one of the other people. But that would also be like taking a Christmas gift away from a child.

Unfortunately people make mistakes sometimes. but it sounds like they made it right by offering you a free cover. Nothing else more you can do but wait, they'll get them back in again.

Just wondering has anyone got a call about an AT&T version coming in? Because it seems like everyone is getting calls about wifi only models.

Has anyone been able to get a wifi only model in Best Buy without having a reservation? I found a store near me that is showing stock online but I don't want to waste a trip if it's only for pre-orders.

Got mine yesterday.

Got a call on Friday at 4pm and picked it up last night at the 28th Street BB in Grand Rapids.

Enjoyed using it last night until my kids woke up this morning. Back to my MacBook. :)

One local BB Stopped taking pre-orders

I ordered a 32gig white AT&T on Monday 3/14 from BB. I've returned every day to check up on them, being told I was second on the list. BB insists they will call if it comes in. In fact I had a couple employees express frustration that customers didn't believe them. (Ha! Like me). I tried going to another store to pre-order in hopes of getting one sooner, but was was told yesterday that they stopped taking reservations because they had so many orders and no idea when they would get shipments. Another note...went to the only Apple Store in Indianapolis this morning. I called and was told yesterday they opened at 10AM and were not opening early. I got there a little after 8AM to find them open. I asked the greeter if they had any iPads and he said they already sold them to the people who had been in line since 2AM! He also apologized that I wasn't told that they opened at 8 for training. Oh well, I guess patience is a virtue.

Hey Pottsie, which BB did you preorder from? I reserved one at the Avon location and the one of Lafayette road. Have yet to hear anything from either. One of my friend's reserved in Greenwood and he has heard nothing as well.

Manassas Best Buy

The sales kids there said they got in 5 Verizon models yesterday and they are now being told that it will be 2-3 weeks before they expect to fulfill all of the pre-orders. He also mentioned the situation in Japan as having an impact... not sure about that one. Regardless it looks like the ATT 3G models are hard to come by.. Fortunately, I was able to pick a WiFi model up at Target in West Manassas this morning!!!

I work at a small Best buy in PA and we got a shipment of around 6 wifi 64g in today around 12pm. Only had one reserve on them and a bunch of lucky people that were walking in got the rest.

By the way from what i read about the reserve process the ipads are not guaranteed, you are just informed when they arrive at the store. All the same my store held the reserve until the customer came in for it.

What? That doesn't make any sense. I surely hope I didn't pay $100 simply for the courtesy of a phone call when a new shipment arrives.

Upon further investigation, it seems that the official policy is that Best Buy will hold the iPad for 48 hours after notifying the customer that their reserved item is in stock. After that, they'll offer the iPad for general sale.

You're correct, the other poster has it wrong. When BB called my they told me I had 48 hours to pick it up otherwise it would go to the next person in line.

The information that was available in my store wasnt nearly as clear as the article you linked. I imagined most stores were holding them for people, but what i read clearly said there was no guarantee. Which is probably for liability reasons in case they make a mistake now that i think about it.

I'm still waiting for mine. On launch day, I picked up a 16 GB white wifi, but want a 64 GB black wifi. I sold mine to a friend who desperately wanted one. I am waiting patiently for my 64 gb, from the BB in Brainerd MN.

Based on all my friends working the various sources, it seems that Apple has turned down the trickle to most stores.

In nothing more than hard work & luck I managed to purchase seven this week in just two transactions at Target. Then lo & behold the two I ordered from Apple arrived much earlier than expected.

Be patient everyone and you'll get yours at some point I'm sure. Apple has a reason for constricting supply. It gives them maximum headlines and exposure free that way.

Apple knows what's good for them even if it frustrates and negatively impacts us.

Pathetic

Gee, what could you be wanting to do with 9 iPads?

You keep posting here bragging about the 9 iPads you scored, and the only reason must be because you get some kind of satisfaction out of rubbing it in. Honestly, it's just really aggravating, and not because I'm "jealous," but because I can see no possible circumstance where I'd buy 9 iPads. You're plan is to take advantage of others, plain and simple, and while it's certainly legal, it's not right. Your actions are no better than those of the scalpers standing in line in NYC.

Ignore turned on.

He should try getting a real job rather than using iPad scalping as his only source of income.
