I just called the local Best Buy I ordered my phone from being curious after reading these posts. A person from the mobile department that they were going to start calling customers whom ordered the phones in the morning and that they have priority over people that are waiting at the store in the morning.

A north Frisco store in Texas

Thank goodness. I pre ordered at one of the 10 stores that underwent their bestbuy 2.0 remodel so I'm holding out hope that those stores will get the most stock.

Also just an update to this......I received my phone call roughly 3 hours after my email to set up my appointment. I am going in at 9am before the store opens to pick it up.

*sigh*
no email from Best Buy yet.
also no unlock from AT&T for my out of contract 4 yet.
both ordered/requested on Sunday 9/16.

Well... the bestbuy near me got no 64gb iPhones. Looks like I'm getting up at 5am to go to the apple store! Nothing against you best buy

I preordered my 4 from Best Buy. I remember going in and asking for an exchange because my phone had an unevenly lit screen and they were complaining to me that every time someone returns a phone they take the $750 phone price bill. Is this true? On top of that they opened my phone before I got there and when I arrived, they were playing with it! They were like "We set it up for you".

I got a call for an appointment for my black 32gb, and I preordered on saturday. Must be lucky since that's the only phone type they got in.

They set me up when they open at 10am, so I don't think they are opening any earlier just for the iphone crowd.

My wife preordered a white 32gb though lol

Did anyone get an email but not a phone call? I got my email this morning at 10am, but no phone call yet

I preordered a black 16GB iPhone and a black 64GB iPhone. I've got my confirmation email for the 16GB, but not the 64GB. Best Buy did this to me last year. I ended up buying my 4S from ATT last year.

I called BB around 3:30 and the mobile rep said that he would start calling people in a couple of hours. Finally at 5:16 I received my confirmation email stating that my preorder is ready for pickup. BB just called me at 8:11 to confirm and recommended a reservation. I am good to go.

BTW, I went in 2 days ago to add my girl to the list (pro $50.00 pre-order). They just called to let me know she was the last one on the list before the cut-off.

My local Best Buy just called me to set an appointment to pick up my 16GB. I asked them about my 64GB order and they haven't gotten any 64GB phones in yet.

Just got the phone call to have it set up. Made an appointment for 11:30.

They didn't get any white iPhones in which is a major bummer. They said they had 1 extra black 32GB that they'd hold for me, but I'm not having any faith in that. At least I'm getting the black 16GB that I pre-ordered. Maybe I'll get lucky and they'll get some white ones in tomorrow.

Same with me. I think this is the norm at most places.

I hope that they receive shipment tomorrow morning of them.

I'm so jealous of all y'all that got confirmation emails and phone calls

HMM, do y'all think it's a good idea if I go early and try to snatch up one of the leftovers that they have for sale?

I asked if there was any chance they would get a shipment and they said they weren't sure. They said that they start receiving shipments at 6:00 am but they still weren't sure.

Yeah, I was prepared for that. I know Best Buy doesn't get a lot of phones in the beginning. Not in a hurry to get it though.

Got my email at 10:45am and a call to set appointment for pickup at 9pm. Garland, Tx 32gig black AT&T.

I'm pretty psyched. Don't know what to do with this old 32gig iPhone 4.

Best Buys system will put names on the phones as they arrive. In the order the preorder was taken. If you receive an email saying your phone is ready its because the system assigned one to you in the order the preorders were received. You have 72hrs to pickup or it goes to the next person. Doesn't matter if your the 3rd person in line if they only received 10 phones and you were the 11th person to order then you would have to wait for them to receive the next batch or for someone to cancel. Then the phone would go to you the next preorder. Most stores received stock today, but I wouldn't doubt another shipment on launch day.

Out of the people the received the email,
how many where for a sprint black 64gb?

I finally got the email but this is what it says:

"Dear Ed:

I know that you're excited to get your new iPhone 5 and you can be sure we are as excited to sell it to you. Unfortunately, as of the night before the official launch, Best Buy® has not received enough of the specific model phone you ordered, and we will not have it available on launch day. You can be certain that we are working very hard to get you, as quickly as possible, the exact iPhone 5 model you pre-ordered. It could take as long as 28 days to find the iPhone you want. However, there is no doubt that the fact you pre-ordered a phone from Best Buy means you will be able to buy it before any consumer trying to find one on their own.

Trust us, we will be able to get you the phone you want – maybe not as fast as you might want, but likely as fast as anyone else at this point.

I really appreciate your patience and willingness to shop Best Buy. We look forward to getting you the phone you ordered with us.

If you have any questions, please call 1-888-BEST BUY (1-888-237-8289).

Sincerely,

Shawn Score
